Climax तो extra ordinary था ! बाढ़ वाला scene राज जी ने उस दौर में कितनी मेहनत से फिल्माया होगा....!! इसके अलावा LP ने जो music दिया, ऐसा शायद ही जयकिशन (शंकर-जयकिशन) दे पाते ! हर गाना एक दूसरे से different और गज़ब की feel लिए हुए है ! कोई भी अंदाजा लगा सकता है कि LP ने music पे कितनी मेहनत की होगी ! बस बेवजह 'skin show' को अपनी फिल्म में तवज्जो देने वाली बात मुझे राज जी की बिल्कुल पसंद नही आती थी ! चाहे वो कितने ही decent way में ऐसा क्यूं न करते हों...!! खैर, इस फ़िल्म की तरह ही इससे जुड़ा आपका ये episode भी यादगार है ! शुभकामनाएं....राकेश जी ! 💐💐👍👍
Watched this movie during my collage days in 1998/99 when this movie was re-released with fresh print...I was mesmerised!! This was definitely a Big Screen movie..Lata ji's songs...Zeenat's father's death sequence, and the flood sequence with a classic end scene...every bit was a like a dream on the Big screen...the plot was illogical but the canvas made me believe every thing..that's why Raj ji was called a Dream Merchant..and you are a very big Dream Merchant too....Rakesh Sir..the entire episode was like a magic..your story telling with such data details, O my God...bahut sari jaadu wali jhappiyan aapko..episode kab shuru hua aur kab khatam...time ka pata hi nahi chala...You are a genius Rakesh ji..🙏🙏🙏
Very beautifully narrated episode rakesh bhai!! Satyam Shivam Sundaram was a very controversial bold film of the golden era. Music of Laxmikant-Pyarelal was outstanding. Raj Kapoor ji's direction was as usual uniquely great. But main problem was the unnecessary skin show of main female lead in the film that too in rural settings. I don't think there is any village in india where women wear such revealing cloths even today let alone back then. So this was major drawback. Otherwise the film’s philosophy about inside beauty vs outside beauty was too brilliant. Lata ji ka kissa bhi pehli baar suna. Perforpancewise zeenat's best performance. She wasn't a great actress and was famous for beauty and glamorous roles but this was a completely different and challanging role for her. Shashi kapoor's performance was fine. Overall great episode. One more thing i would add, shammi kapoor's son aditya raj kapoor said in his interview with ETimes that shashi kapoor is his most favorite actor among all three kapoor brothers (raj, shammi and shashi). He also said that shashi kapoor looked the most handsome among the three and in satyam shivam sundaram when he wakes up and stands in his balcony during the song satya hi shiv hai as you also presented in this episode @2.59, is where he looked the most handsome ever. Chanchal Sheetal was perhaps the last song recorded by legendary Mukesh sahab. Too sad that we lost 2 legends mukesh sahab rafi sahab and kishore-da too soon. They were too young to leave us. Also many other legends we lost during the same time. Their legacy is immortal!!!

Zeenat Aman was amazing in the film. It was her show all the way. She should’ve won best actress at filmfare awards. . She did so well from innocent lady to strong women. All the songs were classics.
Lata Didi had dispute with Raj Kapoor 2 times. 1) When song Mein Kya Karu Ram Mijhe Buddha Mil Gaya was forcibly introduced in film Sangam 1964 2) Lata Didi did not know initially that she has been considered in this movie Satyam Shivam Sundaram just because her looks were not good but voice and singing skill was too excellent. She had stopped singing for Raj Kapoor film but Raj had to go to her and asked her to apologize him which she agreed after many attempts and intervention by others. His fil Aag 1948 was totally flopped. As per Mukesh interview with Ameen Sayani no distributor was ready to take film then and asked Raj that "Agar Aag hi lagana ho to aap ke studio ko lagao. Hamare theatre ko nahi.

आपके नैरेशन के अनुरूप ही फिल्म भी कई मायनों में अच्छी थी, बस! एक ही गल्ती कुछ भारी पड़ गई। वह थी ज़ीनत अमान की पोशाक, जिसे चाहे भानू अथैया जैसी नामी डिजाइनर ने तैयार की हो, चाहे राजकपूर की मंशा पर खरी उतरी हो और चाहे ज़ीनत ने खुद इसे स्वीकार कर लिया हो। फिल्म की नायिका के चेहरे के सिर्फ एक हिस्से पर ही कुरूपता नहीं थी (जिसे वह नायक से छिपाती रहती थी) बल्कि इस बेकार की, तन उघाड़ू पोशाक की वजह से भी वह पूरी फिल्म में बेढंगी लगती रही।
Zeenat Aman's western looks something not suit for the character but her performance is best her entire career for Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Hema Malini Rekha not suit for the role and Vidya Sinha is best choice out of all Mumtaz only perfectly suit for the character Rupa.

I am not an Indian but I saw the movie as a metaphor for faith. The movie is about the duality of god which is beautiful from one side but also very cruel and ugly on the other side. To me Rekha would have a much better choice. The movie, in my opinion is the best and most personal Raj Kapoor film.

It’s a very profound statement about true faith and love. It’s hard to believe the same man also directed the ultimate movie about teenage love, Bobby. They are both masterpieces of their respective genres. One about young love and the other about the ultimate everlasting love. His range was remarkable.

Lekin is movie ka sabse bada drawback mujhe yahi lagta hai ki itne Pious songs ko gane wali auratein kabhi itne kam kapde nahi pehnti. High court ka bhi kich asar nahi hua. Rakesh ji pata nahi kya vajah rahi ki is film ke ek geet ne mujhe khwabo me bada preshan kiya ? rang mahal ke dus darvaje...malum nahi is geet me aakarshan tha ya Lata ji awaj ya fir roopa(Zeenat Aman) ki bad kismati. kuchh bhi ho film ka climax yani ant shandar raha. film ne 'title' ko sarthak kar diya. Satya ke saamne sunderta aur aakarshan koi mayene nahi rakhte.

The film had a great concept. Raj Kapoor erred in the casting. He should have cast Rajesh Khanna & Rekha. Shashi Kapoor was very ordinary & Zeenat looked totally out of place.

Thanks for nice episode. I think it is true that it was first film of director raj kapur in which selection of heroine was not upto the mark according to story and character of a village girl. Zeenat did not fit the role of a village girl at all.

is film ka kamzor pahlu Zeenat hi thi jo adakaari ke maamle mein fitri nahi lagti jab k is kirdaar ke liye sab se important cheez umda adakaari hi honi chahiye thi, jism ko koi kitne frame mein enjoy kar sakta hai rooh ka connection hi darshak ko baandh kar rakhta hai, just imagine k Rupa Nargis, Nutan ya Madhu Bala hoti, kaash ye movie 60s mein bani hoti..
Khair, music ne Raj Kapoor ki mehnat ko bahut had tak sambhaal diya...

ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस फिल्म में जो बाढ के द्रश्य दिखाए गये थे वे वास्तविक थे, क्योंकि जिस स्थान पर राज जी ने शूटिंग की थी वहां पर फिल्म बनने के दौरान बाढ आ गई थी। बाढ के असली द्रश्य लिये गये थे।

आपके नैरेशन के अनुरूप ही फिल्म भी कई मायनों में अच्छी थी, बस! एक ही गल्ती कुछ भारी पड़ गई। वह थी ज़ीनत अमान की पोशाक, जिसे चाहे भानू अथैया जैसी नामी डिजाइनर ने तैयार की हो, चाहे राजकपूर की मंशा पर खरी उतरी हो और चाहे ज़ीनत ने खुद इसे स्वीकार कर लिया हो। फिल्म की नायिका के चेहरे के सिर्फ एक हिस्से पर ही कुरूपता नहीं थी (जिसे वह नायक से छिपाती रहती थी) बल्कि इस बेकार की, तन उघाड़ू पोशाक की वजह से भी वह पूरी फिल्म में बेढंगी लगती रही।

Zeenat Aman's western looks something not suit for the character but her performance is best her entire career for Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Hema Malini Rekha not suit for the role and Vidya Sinha is best choice out of all Mumtaz only perfectly suit for the character Rupa.

I am not an Indian but I saw the movie as a metaphor for faith. The movie is about the duality of god which is beautiful from one side but also very cruel and ugly on the other side. To me Rekha would have a much better choice.
The movie, in my opinion is the best and most personal Raj Kapoor film.

@@rakeshsadeo I should also add the movie concludes that once we are confronted with the hidden and cruel side of god, and still accept and love it regardless, that is true faith. It’s a very profound statement about true faith and love. It’s hard to believe the same man also directed the ultimate movie about teenage love, Bobby. They are both masterpieces of their respective genres. One about young love and the other about the ultimate everlasting love.
His range was remarkable.

Very nice information. Is movie ke sare songs bhi bahut achche hai. Lekin is movie ka sabse bada drawback mujhe yahi lagta hai ki itne Pious songs ko gane wali auratein kabhi itne kam kapde nahi pehnti. High court ka bhi kich asar nahi hua. The man had crossed his limits with Mandakini in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Ye sari movies apni family ke sath dekhne me bhi sharm aati hai. You can just enjoy the songs.

In the village men are well dressed covering their body, but women are scantily dressed. Raj Kapoor wanted to attract more audience to theatre but could not really succeed.
The audience reduced because families avoided this Film watching with their kids and also the basic part of story was not accepted

Zeenat Aman kapdo se nahi, hav-bhav se hi bold lagi. is tarah ke vasra aadivasi aur backward community ki mahilaye pehanti thi. lekin film me dikhaya gaya vatavaran is se mail nahi khata. shayad yahi vajah rahi film safal nahi ho pai. video ke aakhir me aapne doosri vajah batai, is se me bhi sahmat hoon lekin aisa ho sakta hai. film ka geet-sangeet behatrin hai. Rakesh ji pata nahi kya vajah rahi ki is film ke ek geet ne mujhe khwabo me bada preshan kiya ? rang mahal ke dus darvaje...malum nahi is geet me aakarshan tha ya Lata ji awaj ya fir roopa(Zeenat Aman) ki bad kismati. kuchh bhi ho film ka climax yani ant shandar raha. film ne 'title' ko sarthak kar diya. Satya ke saamne sunderta aur aakarshan koi mayene nahi rakhte.
Mangal ji bahut achha likha aapne.. Bobby ko fuhad kehna ghalat laga.. Bobby is masterpiece.. check it again 👍🙏👍👍
