Good job with the old rig. Add $150 to what you have in that rig and you've got a new FT-891. Always a tough choice between used and new. I put $300 repair into an FT-840 and now it needs more repairs. LOL. Sometimes an older rig is worth it, sometimes not. I think you made the right choice! 73, K9ELF
Thanks for watching! I was going between the 891 and something else. I was really wanting to find an IC-706mkIIG, I had one of those back in the mid 2000s and really liked it. I was wanting to find something affordable that I could use for HF as well as VHF and UHF. I'll use this one for a bit and see if it fits the needs I was hoping to fill. 73! -Kevin
I am looking at buying one of these radios also. In your last video you mentioned the ctcss not coming standard in this radio. I have an 817 and 897 and enjoy the all band capabilities as I use mine on 2m and 70cm ssb. I am looking at getting one of these for my mobile setup but really want to access repeaters. Is that a big deal to get the parts and get the 100 set up like the 100D?
Is that Sat 23 Oct? I think that was the last semi warm day of the month... I am so close to getting my (DX expander homebrew) finished.. next chance to take it out will be in 2 weekends.. probably to k-1000 illinois state beach
No, that was taken towards the end of summer. I'm wishing it was still nice and warm right now! On the 23rd I was doing some chasing from home. The 22nd I was out at K-4160 Volo Bog. Cheers to getting the homebrew antenna done! Hope to catch ya on the air 73, Kevin
It is a great antenna, easy to put up and take down, and I love the flexibility of being able to put different bands on it. Thanks for watching! 73, Kevin
100+ QSOs in just over an hour. Nice job! Way to hustle!
Thanks for the video! I just picked up an ft-100 and the VFO is loose. Do you remember who you sent yours in for repairs? 73, Marc KC3PUJ
Thank you for the video! I also have the same Yaesu ft-100 transceiver as you. 73!
