      Great question! It is very important to make sure that that maintenance IV fluid is compatible with the IV push medication first. Once that is verified, the med can just be pushed without needing a flush as the maintenance fluid helps to flush the medication.
      If the patient has no maintenance fluids but only a saline lock, you definitely need to flush the IV before and after the medication administration.
