    If I'm not mistaken, the L2 ethernet frames ought to have dest MAC followed by src MAC - i.e. the ethernet frame with ARP request ought to be FF:FF:FF... | A:A:A... | ARP_REQUEST. From the drawing (NO VXLAN as well as VXLAN part) it seems that it is mentioned there in opposite order ( A:A:A..|FF:FF:FF..|ARP_REQ).. Hope I haven't missed anything.. Good explanation otherwise :)..

    Brother, your videos are great. I have watched most of these. Really I appreciate your effort. One doubt; In SD access, switch works for data plane only, but MAC Table is part of control plane. Then how switch can store CAM table?

    • @bridgewhy
      @bridgewhy  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Tom.. Thanks for liking these videos. This is not the case.. there is a MAC table on switch.. Normal switching works as it is.. Just see the data plane videos again and you will get the logic..

    May I know what is the encapsulation Method used here? Is it GNEVE ?

    • @bridgewhy
      @bridgewhy  4 роки тому +1

      Hey... Encapsulation used here is VXLAN. We are using some of the unused bits in VXLAN header to propagate security tags. So VXLAN header is carrying information on both VNI as well as Securty tags..

    Switch wont send arp request on the other link bcoz spanning tree will block that link, as two switches are trunked n not VPC’d together.

      The Bridge Hi Vishnu, thanks for ur response. My question was
      1. In non vxlan scenario, source device knew Dest IP , Dest Mac, Source Mac but destination mac was missing, for which it does arp (broadcast to ff.ff...) but in vxlan scenario the actual source address and dest address are not even in the initial frame, but the loopbacks are present in d frame, in that case how does does control plane knows which destination sw loopback to provide address for,? Does CP node look at final dest mac address (broadcast mac ff.ff.ff) in its table and provides all dest sw’s loopbacks? Sorry for long writeup i am new to vxlan n know nothing on LISP yet. If answer is in LISP then i am happy to wait for your next video.
      2. Recently from one of the cisco competitor vendor i heard them saying that vxlan was not designed with future enhancements (no TLVs) but in the initial videos you mentioned it has 2 bits of TLVs which it uses in SDaccess for tags (trustsec). So my qq was, are these TLV bits introduced recently and used just in sd access?
      And are there more TLVs in vxlan encapsulation?
      Thank you for your time and help with the great videos you are creating. Appreciate it! 😊

      @@yashpancholi5765 For your second question, I mentioned this in last video regarding what fields we are using in vxlan header to carry SGT's for micro segmentation.. And yes you heard it correctly that vxlan header was not designed for future enhancement and exactly this is why we are reusing the already coded field..
