Hello! I'm a third year Maths student at Bath. In first year I was in Norwood so thought I'd shed some light on it. There are about 6-8 people to a kitchen from memory, with 2 showers/toilets. I never had any problems with it. I was on the 2nd floor above the club, so it did get slightly noisy but it wasn't too bad. The best thing about Norwood was the fact it is slap-bang in the middle of the campus, so nothing is further than 5 minutes away. Hope this helps.
hi girl! I'm from Cape Town, South Africa, and found this video super useful because I want to do my postgrad at Bath uni. I have a lot of friends studying in the UK so have to start looking now.
So I went to bath for summer school and now I am thinking about applying and I am so excited, I loved it I think about that summer a lot. I am struggling a bit through school bc of mental health and thinking about my future and going to uni is helping a lot and keeping me motivated:) oh and I stayed in the quads and they were amazing but close to the parking lots
I went to St Andrews in Scotland but visited my girlfriend at Bath Uni (Westwood) and found the city enchanting. The fish pond the lake the circus etc...the golf course....the one thing I didn't like was the predominantly modern buildings on campus and attendant industrialized feeling. I also felt that certain departments were not that strong academically compared to St Andrews (but that was back in the 80's I have heard that it has progressed)....the long walk up the hill was long but fun...Pultney bridge is beautiful. My girlfriend moved into a flat at the circus which was under the pavement level but it was very charming. Thanks for your video and all the best with your studies. Sorry to say but as usual the British are so focused on drinking and where to get free drinks.
Stumbled across this and your other videos whilst browsing UA-cam. I was at Bath Uni 2005-2009 (I know, I’m old!) and I was SU President in 2007/08 which I did as my placement year. It was a nice nostalgia trip watching this and it’s funny that it sounds like not much has changed, although I’m sure a lot has. Great advice & content! Consider running for a student officer position if it interests you. Enjoy the rest of your time in Bath; they really are some of the best years of your life!
I just made Bath my insurance, I really struggled to choose between bath and Durham as an insurance but your videos definitely helped me to come to my final decision of Bath x
Thank you so much for this video - it was so useful! I hope to go there for International Management and I'm so glad to hear that about jobs on campus as I need one!
As someone who lives in Bath due to work and ended up studying at the School of management due to work related qualifications, always interesting to hear the perspective from someone who's here as purely a student and has moved to the area to study.

@@nikitajeswani9183 A lot of companies who have offices in bath/bristol for example future publishing, are also based in London, so I don't see it making a lot of difference.
It's good if you're boujee and can afford the luxury bath prices. If you value nightlife, everything except the casino in Bath is closed by 3am. Recommend considering Bristol as an alternative option for one who is bit less "Tory" perhaps. Can confirm Happy Hour is an absolute mad one - 3.80 double pints.
I’m a second year at Bath uni and I agree with everything you’ve said, this is such a good review! I’d say in second year you notice how expensive things are more, like my family live in Nottingham and have the same energy company as the one I have in my student house in Bath and they charge SO much more for the same amount just because it’s Bath, which is v annoying and something you have to prepare for 😅 But yeah, like you I’m so, so glad I chose Bath Uni 😊👌

Loved this video and it was sooo helpful especially since I am thinking of making Bath as my firm. I know you mentioned the nightlife and the lack of raves but just wondering if you could tell me a bit more the nights out in the city. and how many times you go out in the city or on campus? are there dancing clubs/bars and what is the general attitude towards going out for students. sorry for all the question, but i am intrigued as I have read such mixed reviews x (obviously i won't choose a uni based on the nightlife but it is still improtant to have a lively enviroment! )
In the main club Mondays is rnb/dnb music and Fridays is pop/rnb mostly but there is different music in different rooms. One of the clubs does just like pop music / songs you’d know the words to. One of the clubs has more themed stuff so for example mamma mia / grease, but with normal songs as well. There’s also a night at one of the clubs with all Spanish music called Latin Loco. I go out in the city 2 times a week and on campus 1-2 times a week usually but it varies depending on time of year. General attitude is most people want to go out but it’s not weird if you don’t want to, lots of people will also have fun nights just in their flat drinking x
I would say it is quite diverse but to be honest I don’t completely know as I’m not part of one of those communities myself. But they have lots of faith/cultural societies so I think that’s a good sign :)
was really glad you made this vid since i'm considering going to Bath! just wondering, do you recommend going to Bath if you're not great at a particular sport?
I'm currently a second year at Bath and there's loads of recreational sport going on! A lot of department and halls sports teams! You don't need to be an Olympian to use the facilities, it's just pretty cool to be able to use the same stuff as them though!
As a foreigner, Universities of Liver Pool, Bath, Bath Spa, Reading, Open, Middlesex, Sussex, Essex, Cumbridge, sounds hilarious 🤣 . British sure knows how to crack employers up.
Hi Mia, this was so useful to watch since I hope to be going to Bath in September to study Economics! :) I was wondering how likely it is to get your first choice for accommodation out of your choices?
Ahh glad you liked it !! If you want an accommodation that’s not so popular then you’ll probably get your first choice but if you pick somewhere like Quads/Eastwood are both quite popular then you’re less likely to get it. But just put down the order you’d truly prefer them in x
I'm a second-year Management student at Bath and honestly, I have been really disappointed by how the Uni has managed the Strikes/COVID situation this year. I know Bath rates highly on student satisfaction but honestly, I feel personally let down by my department and feel that I haven't taken much from my course this year :( does anyone out there agree?
I sort of agree in the sense that I have felt a bit disconnected to the course/content but also I think it was a hard situation for everyone and I’m not sure what I would suggest for them to do differently x
Its a hard situation but the lack of online teaching has been a shock to me. I have a few lecturers who have refused to record lectures or offer substitute material leaving us with pretty much no teaching to go off ahead of our exams. I'm sure the econ department have been more organised.
How does Norwood compare to Westwood and Eastwood? Would you say it is quite a social accommodation, and is the noise really that bad? Finding it hard to decide between them haha
Yes I think Norwood you have a lot of flat mates as well so it is social. I’m not sure about the noise I haven’t personally experienced it! But they don’t have any events on during the exam period so there’d defo be no noise at the most important times. It’s most similar to Westwood in terms of look and layout, Eastwood is in houses x
Hi, I am first year in Bath Uni and staying in Norwood. Let me tell you few things about the Norwood. Norwood is basically divided into three flats in one floor , north side, middle and south side. Different flats have different no of rooms in it and i stay at the north side where they have the least number of rooms ( 7 in a flat) which is great. cuz, you dun want too many people sharing kitchen and toilet. Also Norwood has the biggest single room compare to all accommodation ( westwood, quads, eastwood and etc), this can be check via the accomadation websites. And it is also the cheapest single room u can get on campus.
I’m hopefully studying economics in September and I can’t decide whether to buy an iPad Pro and keyboard or a MacBook. I saw in your room tour that you had both and was just wondering which one you recommend for an economics degree. X
I have a video on how I take notes on my iPad Pro ua-cam.com/video/uKXRoiQsjPI/v-deo.html in this I talk about the differences to a laptop! Main thing is it’s easier to take maths notes with an Apple Pencil rather than typing on a laptop so I’d recommend an iPad x
Do you ever go on trips to other cities like London? And how often do you go out in Bath/on campus in a week? Oh and do you ever have things like movie nights with your flat mates? 💓 Sorry for all the questions 😂 Loved this video xx
Sometimes to Bristol as it’s so close, I haven’t to London but you could there’s a direct train. I go out on campus 1-2 times a week and in town 2 times a week usually. Yes me and my flat mates do movie nights we just put someone’s tv in the kitchen and get blankets and snacks it’s so cute! X
hey, i really wanna know if they have any years abroad depending on the course because i wanted to go to either Paris or Quebeck for a few years of my degree. I'm not sure whether i will do Music Tech or Criminology yet, i'm still deciding. It would really help! Thank you x
Hello! I’ve just had a look on the Bath uni website. For criminology, it looks like you can do a placement year but not a study year abroad. This means you have the option to work for a year during your degree and you could look for a placement in one of the cities you want to go to, it can be anywhere in the world. But you wouldn’t be able to study there, only work. Music Tech is at Bath Spa uni not Uni of Bath so I don’t know how everything works exactly there but I had a quick look and it seems like you can do a placement year for this course too but not study abroad, same as the option for Criminology :) xx
In first year - not allowed to bring a car as the parking on campus is for lecturers / permit holders only In second year - many people do bring cars as houses may have parking / street parking / you can buy a permit to park on a street in bath
I have an offer to study Economics at both Bath and UCL, but I don't know which to firm!? I'm led to believe that apparently UCL has a better reputation, but Bath has a better student experience since it's not in London... I'd love to know your view and which you think I should firm??? P.S. Keep up the videos. I'm a new subscriber as I have been spending the whole of this isolation period watching relevant UA-cam videos to help reach my decision, but nevertheless I love your content already!
Thank you! I really don’t want to influence your decision because I honestly don’t know which would be best for you! But I will say that the main difference would be is London is a big busy city, probably a lot more variety and things to do than in Bath, definitely more expensive, more people there, more diverse etc. Bath is quite small but also really lovely, more like a town, everyone sort of knows each other it’s a bit more of a close network. Depends which you’d prefer - there’s advantages to both.
Currently go to Bath studying Economics and choose it over UCL. I can say that for me the big difference in terms of academics was the graduate support and the industrial placement support. I can honestly say that going to Bath would not hinder your chances of landing a good job, I myself and most of my friends have gotten our placements at good firms. Having spoken to employers at events and spring weeks they say that unless your Oxford/Cambridge we pay little attention to your University as its unfair. They look more into your experiences, socities and you CV and maths and stituational test that you do for them. So it just comes down to what you want from your University. And i think she gives a good a view of Bath, probz better talking to someone who actually goes to London to see their view.
Hi Mia, your video was so helpful and I appreciate it so much! I heard that there are many European students as well in Bath, but could you tell me something about the diversity of the student body? Obviously I assume that it will depend on the courses as well, but just in general are there some international students as well? :)
No I’d never done it before. In freshers week they have a sports fair where u can go round the stalls and browse every single sport! I signed up there for trial sessions and then carried on after!
Never seen them but I wouldn’t recommend having a shared room. It’s just nice to have your own space, sometimes you just wanna be by yourself and you may not be able to. Also if you wanna bring someone back to yours or if the other person does then that could get weird haha if you know what I mean 😅xx
I got offers from Warwick and Bath for Masters in Engineering Business Management. Really confused now I am🥴. I will be happy if someone suggest me go with.
also are there many communal areas just around campus for? stuff like coffee shops or social library spaces? Bath is the only campus uni I applied to so don't know exactly what to expect
Luke Maynard yes a few of the bars are coffee places too so there’s 4W cafe, lime tree, the edge cafe, sports cafe, parade bar & grill, loads of people go to the SU in the daytime, there’s group work areas in the library, some people sit by the lake etc so I would say lots of social spaces
It depends on the course but in general you do have to have high grades to get in. For economics you have to get A*AA but they’ll let you in with A*AB or AAA. I don’t know what the US equivalent to these grades are. You could email the university and ask :)
Hey this was really helpful thank you xx I am going to uni in September 2021 and was wondering if you know of anyone doing English and wether or not they liked it ?
Well like I said I got in with 1 grade missed but it could be different for every course. I think psychology requirements are A*AA so if you think you’ll get those grades or a bit lower then defo apply! If you’ll be more than 2 grades off then maybe it’s not the right uni/course for you
Were you in a mixed flat? On the Bath accommodation website it says you can state a preference between mixed and all girls? Is that common or do most people opt to be mixed? Also which is your favourite accommodation all round? X💓
Yes I was in a mixed flat, most people opt for that. It’s not very common to have single sex flats but it’s fine if you want that! The floor below mine in my building was all girls so they defo accommodate for it and it’s not like it’s in a place isolated from everyone else. Your whole building will always be mixed it will just be your floor / shared kitchen that would be all girls 💗 and my fave accommodation would probs be Solsbury or Woodland court x
This is a random question but is there a post office on campus? (I’m going to bath next year and I work in a post office at the moment, so seems a good place to get a job) x
Yes there’s a delivery collection office for parcels but haven’t seen any students working there tbh. And then there’s a place you can post things in the mini supermarket on campus x
Im applying for a scholarship here! thank you for the super informative video~! I hope this question doesn't come across as rude at all, i've just heard that I shouldn't apply to the UK or even the US because of racism and im better off staying where I am (I am not lol). I know its a global issue, but is there this issue in Bath University? Or just maybe a few "bad apples"?
I'm thinking of applying to Bath for economics and hopefully i can get predicted A*AA but i unfortunately didn't choose a level maths do you think there's still a chance of me getting an offer ? Also what were your predicted grades?
No you can’t do an economics degree at Bath without maths A level unfortunately :((( and I was predicted A*A*A but the teachers only did that to give everyone a good shot at uni they didn’t actually think we would get them that high x

hey, i really wanna know if they have any years abroad depending on the course because i wanted to go to either Paris or Quebeck for a few years of my degree.
Are the floors in accommodation mixed? Probably sounds like a stupid question but are they split evenly like girls to boys or something?
Yes they are mixed but you can request to be with all girls if you prefer. And yeah they’re mostly evenly split x
miaalicex thank you! x
I got offer for msc international management for oct 2021 intake. Really excited to come here. Hope to make some new friends .
Ah congratulations!!! :)
Which out of east side and west side of the campus would be the best to have accomodation?
bath is my dream uni!! also where is your top from in this vid 💕
alana rose nasty gal!!! but it’s quite old x
Do people usually bring their cars?? Nobody in my family went to uni lol so I’ve got no idea how this all works - is there parking and stuff?
In first year - not allowed to bring a car as the parking on campus is for lecturers / permit holders only
In second year - many people do bring cars as houses may have parking / street parking / you can buy a permit to park on a street in bath
Hey I’m in a really similar position! I’m torn between Bath and UCL (for psychology) and ahhhh I have no idea what to do 😂
i am in exactly the same position! i have an economics offer from both bath and ucl and i’m really torn on which to firm!
Yes there’s loads of international students! I know people from Europe, China, USA, South Africa so yeah I’d say it’s quite diverse x
Just wondering approximately how many total contact hours you get per week studying Economics at Bath, and is that similar to other unis you know of?
About 16 hours and I’m not sure about other unis x
i’m only yr12 but university of bath is stuck in my head for a university, does anyone know if they do a good computing or media course ??
Pretty sure their computer science course came 7th in uk rankings in whichever table I saw (first one that came up when I searched it in google)
@@castlestar454 thank you !! i really do appreciate your response but i’ve decided i would rather do a media course lol
what is the cheerleading team like there? and which one were you on? did you ever compete at ICC xx
callea x so much fun!! I was on freshers Pom & Rec stunting, and yes we did compete in Manchester at Future Cheer. ICC was cancelled this year :’( xx
if anyone is wondering what the bath nightlife is like, I've got a lot of vlogs on my channel about it!
what was the application process like?
Hey do you know if the mountaineerong /climbing club is active?do u know if it was active this year like did they go on many trips etc
No idea I’ve never heard of that sorryyy!! You could see if they have an Instagram page
You can go to raves in Bath if you know where to find them 😋
4th year at bath uni here. There is only one venue in bath big enough for raves (Komedia) and they don't do em weekly. Bristol is a much better shout!
@@TheOJdude 4th year too! If you know the right people, there's loads of outdoor underground stuff that occurs, kind of secret though!
@@elliotrobinson4484 Ah, now I get what you mean. That's fair.
How’s the nightlife in bath? Compared to Leeds / london
You mentioned you’re on the cheerleading team, how did you find it? Had you done it before you went to the uni?
No I’d never done it before. In freshers week they have a sports fair where u can go round the stalls and browse every single sport! I signed up there for trial sessions and then carried on after!
It was all going so well till the no raves part 😔 that might be a dealbreaker for me.
some people in the comments corrected me, apparently there are some!
@@miaalicex ooh great perhaps all is not lost 🤞
What do you think about shared bedrooms in woodland court? Xxx
Might seem like a stupid question but how many bars/pubs are there on campus? Is it just the SU?
No there’s 3 more bars but people mostly go to them in the day time because they have outdoor areas and then SU in the evening
@@miaalicex oh that's so good! when I went for the offer holder day they only showed us the SU!
also are there many communal areas just around campus for? stuff like coffee shops or social library spaces? Bath is the only campus uni I applied to so don't know exactly what to expect
Luke Maynard yes a few of the bars are coffee places too so there’s 4W cafe, lime tree, the edge cafe, sports cafe, parade bar & grill, loads of people go to the SU in the daytime, there’s group work areas in the library, some people sit by the lake etc so I would say lots of social spaces
Love the video! Did u apply to oxford? X
Yes and didn’t get in xx
My daughter is US student. Is the university of bath a very selective school? She has done well in her subjects but not so good on the tests.
It depends on the course but in general you do have to have high grades to get in. For economics you have to get A*AA but they’ll let you in with A*AB or AAA. I don’t know what the US equivalent to these grades are. You could email the university and ask :)
@@miaalicex thank you!!
Hey this was really helpful thank you xx
I am going to uni in September 2021 and was wondering if you know of anyone doing English and wether or not they liked it ?
Does Bath have quiet rooms in accommodation?
How easy is it to get into im thinking of applying next yr for psychology but idk if its worth it if ill just get declined
How is the atmosphere where you live on the campus?? I mean , is it pleasant to live there? P.s love your background❣
Yesss it’s so nice!!! Always loads of people around which I love
Thx very much for feedback❣
Do you take your car to uni (if you have one) xx
No you can’t in first year but I will be next year cuz there’s parking outside my house x
miaalicex thank you xx
Thank you for the valuable informations in the video. Can I get a scholarship to study at the University of Bath, and can I study online? Regards.
What is the scenario due to COVID-19 in the university? and would suggest someone to join Bath in the fall intake this year?
I have no idea
Could you please say how Polden Court accommodations are?
For post graduate or undergraduate? X
is the uni or bath in England,Bristol Because I want to go when i'm older it looks good
It’s in England. It’s not in Bristol but it is close to Bristol
@@miaalicex Ok, thanks I thought it was in Bristol XD.
Are you able to get a single flat?
Hey! Sorry how about the prices? How much is to study a career
You can see the prices on the bath uni website
I'm thinking of applying to Bath for economics and hopefully i can get predicted A*AA but i unfortunately didn't choose a level maths do you think there's still a chance of me getting an offer ?
Also what were your predicted grades?
No you can’t do an economics degree at Bath without maths A level unfortunately :((( and I was predicted A*A*A but the teachers only did that to give everyone a good shot at uni they didn’t actually think we would get them that high x
Can you link to your economics video please?
did you complete the PTB (pathway to Bath) programme?
no I haven’t heard of that! x
hiii! just wondering lmao - have you applied for it this year?? I’ve just been accepted :D
@@beccaroonie2946 yes, I’ve just been accepted too!just waiting for the details :)
oooh yay! sorry for being nosey - what course are you doing?
@@beccaroonie2946 haha no worries I'm doing the languages course, what about you? :)
Is bath nightlife good?
I absolutely love it but some people don’t so depends on the person!
which westwood? quantock and derhill obvs best
aha I was in Quarry!
Not anymore lol
When did you start going to the open days? X
Went to all of them in June that I was in year 12, most people did that too x
miaalicex Oh okay thank you x
do you need to do an EPQ to get into Bath or do they not rlly care?
I think they are one of the only unis that do give credit for it but no you defo don’t need to
@@miaalicex ok thanks !
Are you able to get single flats as in not shared
All uni accommodation has shared facilities. If you want your own place you'd have to rent somewhere privately in Bath x
How easy is it to get a job on campus?
You have to be really quick like hand in your CV the day you get there!
You can hand it in to any cafe/bar and you’ll be considered for all the places on campus you don’t need to apply separately to each place
miaalicex cheers appreciated
Should you base your uni choices on which societies the uni has?
Zaki B no absolutely not 😅 you can create societies!!! and pretty much every uni has loadsss anyway
Do many people get jobs off campus?
Yeah quite a few of my friends have jobs in town x
Is the uni diverse? Bc I'm from Asia and I'm scared the racism there is serious
What Bath College is like? Apparently its like a concentration camp.
Not sure I’ve never been there, it’s not linked to the uni
didn't talk about shit lime tree
Oh sorry haha I didn’t know it was shit I’ve never got food from there
