just received a playdate for my birthday. thanks for helping me get it set up on VS code, you couldn't have uploaded this at a better time! :D can't wait for next week's tutorial~
thanks for the guide!! no shade to squidgod but it's a thousand times easier to problem solve this setup as you build all the parts yourself rather than using the template. couldn't get luacats working as I think I'd accidentally put the json into a subdirectory rather than the main workspace directory - just a heads up if anyone else makes this mistake oop!
Quick question, at 15.07 in the video when I close vs code and start it up again for some reason it doesn't recognize playdate, import, or +=. Even after I checked through it over and over again they were still underlined. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I fixed it, now its working perfectly!
@@franchovyAt the end of luarc.json, in workspace library it wouldn't' recognized the folder were the Playdate SDK was. Turns out the problem was with the " marks it was before the [ so it taught that the [ was part of Developer folder.
awesome videos! quick question, at 5:15 setting up launch.json file, do you have to do this for every projects? or is it do it once, when you first install VS code and never have to do it again kinda deal? Thanks !
Hey! I get your concern - if you're not using VSCode for much else, then try following the steps outlined in this post: stackoverflow.com/questions/36868021/is-it-possible-to-have-a-global-launch-json-file Basically you can set up the launch.json as a configuration in the global settings, which should get you what you want! Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for this, I spent 3 weeks trying to get this to work but finally did
Glad it worked! Good luck following the rest of the series! :D
This was soooooo helpful thanks! The last bit to get rid of the squiggly lines was the best part.
Glad it helped!

Any hints on why my playdate simulator does not pop up to the front as yours does? (I am using Windows.)
Love your new fursona
Thanks! *high four* 🐾
