- I tried 22 different training exercises that Jackie Chan does in movies and in real life. I also ranked them based on how crazy and difficult each one of them is.
Jackie Chan is one of the most famous martial arts movie actors of all time.

Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey UA-cam channel!
My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.
Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.
After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my UA-cam channel called "Martial Arts Journey".
Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

Ever the saw the movie of jackie called painted faces 1988? Next video try standing in hand stand for two hours, making kick up for 300 times or one arm summersault two hundred times, then we gonna go if jackie did this stuff real or not. I doubt you find a peking opera teacher in europe but maybe try lion dance this should bring you on your limits for sure too.
Maybe think of making negative chin up bars, that is like i started too.
You basically cant complete 70 % of the exercises on the way how Jackie did...
@@krisztianmezei888yeah Jackie Chan is the GOAT!!!
Nice try slowin it down... im to this day shocked, how crazy fit Jackie was!
drunken master + snake in eagles shadow is totally INSANE!
I've noticed that people never recognise how truly fit Jackie was. He'll never be matched when it comes to being the definition of Jack of all trades. Great vid 🙂👍
He's always been a "Jackie" of all trades... 😋
I just wanted to clarify something. That wasn't a giant pointy stick when he was doing the horse stance. That was a large sized incense stick. The kind they use in temples. He's supposed to hold the stance until the stick burned all the way down and not slack off by sinking to a squat or his butt would be burned by the tip. 😂
Thought it was a retro dildo to out the sus members of your dojo
On the point of horse stance, iron leg and iron body qi gong are incredibly difficult and require you to hold stances for over an hour for basic training. I used to practice the ⁸ brocade and the warm-up for that was 15 minutes of low stances, including 5 exclusively in horse, stance in that position. One minute isn't very impressive for those who havetried the harder stuff. And my personal best was thirty minutes in full horse stance
On the upside down sit ups, Jackie touches his head to his knees, the full range of motion is surely harder than a 4? :D Great video by the way!
Good point! Guilty! 😁
Yeah was gonna say. He also extends his back completely at the bottom of the movement. Still, I can't preach since I've never tried myself 😂
YEAH YOU ARE RIGHT damn nice eyes
@@MartialArtsJourney You were pretty generous with yourself
#7 Jackie is parallel to the floor while your thighs and abs are at a…120 degree angle…not 180 😁. Love the content 👍. Try facing the wall w handstand pushups. I think it would more closely mimic what Jackie does. Extended arm pushups? 😊 pushups on wrists are impressive.
Beast!! 🔥
Reminds me of another guy that one time trained like Jackie Chan... 😁
rokas underestimates jackie chans martial arts training, besides his opera training he has a strong foundation in hung gar, so he has to be able to at least stand in horse stance for 30 minutes to up an hour. Yes standing is used in prisons for torturing, but the kung fu version is for training proper breathing and to toughen the muscles cause beeing forced to tense their muscles in a static position for an elongated time make their muscles incredibly hard and thus hung gar guys tend to be very tough to hurt. Theoretically you could get similiar results with a high repetition, i once did experiments on myself with doing deadlifts with fourty kg in high repetition cause of some fitness room war stories of a guy everyone held for crazy at his gym. And well my back got hard as iron, but in my opinion the muscle layer kept still beeing too small for an effective protection like say a base ball batt at the lower back.
I’m pretty sure he did free standing handstand push-ups in the training sequence from Rumble in the Bronx. I think they actually show him falling while attempting them during the closing credits.
He did, and he was not as young as in the video shown here...
A few notes: I wouldn't call the sit up or the lalane pushups completed, koodos for trying though. And Jackie Chan definitely did the pushups, that's why they zoomed out, to play with audience expectations (for what my degree in film studies is worth) . And he certainly really lifted the person by himself, Jackie Chan was a calisthenics beast in his prime.
It shows how great and in advance Jackie Chan was, on so many aspects.
Sensei Benny “The Jet” Urquidez was not only Jackie’s opponent in the Meals on Wheels Fight Scene, he is a HomeTown Hero who is a Legend in International Kickboxing. His style Ukidokan is a great striking art.
Jackie Chan's level of fitness was beyond! His training montages are extremely inspirational!
You are super fit too!
Full props for giving all these a shot . Some are not that crazy, but there are a good few that are absolutely mental 😂
this is so cool! more people need to try this out!
i remember watching him training when I was little, thinking he was superhuman!
He definitely is a superhuman still!
Bowl you're using seems too light & plastic. The ones used in JC movies are very traditional/classic porcelain bowl, they are slightly heavier & easier to maintain stability when do the snake fist dance.
The pointy stick is joss stick. 😂 The real pain from it is the burning contact.
Do Bruce Lee training next!!! Looking forward the EMP shock & table lifting from you.
Glad you can do these Rokas. Lol! Glad to see a new video! Can’t wait to hear about season 2 of the USDC!
Thanks!
Jackie Chan does handstand push-ups without help. He’s done it in an exhibition. The movie rumble in the Bronx shows him also doing it.
Jackie is amazing but you're pretty darn good yourself. Great job!
Thanks man! There's still a long way to go to Jackie, but it's a first step!
Doing Mabu/Shiko dachi/horse stance and holding it is a pain in the neck but Jackie and Rokas can do it. Lots of strength
Yet another awesome video! Kudos to Jackie Chan!
never knew how crazy of a man jackie chan was until I saw this video ~ he makes it all look easy
Those wrist pushups scared me when I did them a few times. I always thought I was close to breaking something if I messed up.
You did great Rokas. I like to do calisthenics and I know the difficulty of those exercises. And I think it's really good for martial arts. It helps me a lot.
Anyway great video 😊 Jackie is one of my favorite athletes 💪
From an athlete's perspective, he is better at parkour than calisthenics
Correction the bowl scene is from the movie Snake in the Eagle's Shadow.
Shoot! You are right. My bad
Love your videos, your openness to experimentation and testing to see what works.
#9 is “tea cup” qigong. Lots of variations to this and I’ve found it incredibly helpful for shoulder mobility and recovery. There’s a dao yin dragon form that has some similarity and a walk that also goes lower down the body.
Great video. Wheels on Meals is one of my all time favourite movies, the movie is great from the beginning training scene and jumping out of the house to the ending fight scene
I wonder how crazy were Jacky's workouts when he was a child in the Pekín Opera. Great video
I am going to save this video forever ❤
Thanks for making this..... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing the hard work 😅
Haha, thanks for watching!
I will be trying these excersizes looks fun 😂
They are really fun! Just be careful! 😁
Do Van Damme next! Lol this can even be like a series with famous martial arts actors or characters. This is dope!
Great video!
😊❤️
I would like to see you trying calisthenics for awhile cuz it helped me with Mt martial arts journey as an ex aikido student
I'm actually working on such a video right now! I should be releasing it in about a month or so
This reminded me when Jesse trained like Jackie Chan.
Now let's see if Jeff Chan can do it 😄.
Great effort!
Some of those are just a little harder. Its hot boiling water in those bowls and cups. And that's not a pointy stick, its burning incense. so you have the heat but it also gets shorter as it burns down.
Nice video, good production, well thought out, wholesome.
As another fan of the legend of Chan, I have watched all his films, including the obscure, crap ones. I am a hardened fan, not the no 1 fan because liking something isn't a competition, so it is nice for me to see appreciation going somewhere it should.
I am glad you didn't try to replicate the falling from the clock tower exercise, it can be hard on the neck🐻
Haha, yeah, I am a bit more worried about trying his stunts 😄
Kudos to you watching the obscure or lesser known ones, some are pretty terrible haha.😂
Fave new martial arts sub!
Thanks!
Very cool to see clips from Gorgeous. That movie is very under appreciated.
I'm going to start training like Jackie at the gym now, follow his fitness regime, these look like pretty awesome workout techniques.
The next one you should do is Donny Yens training regiment! Lol great stuff!
Jackie is such a legend
Great job, nice assistant ❤
❤️
Brilliant vid!
Thanks!
Great job! You did awesome! When I was a kid I trained shaolin kung-fu with a shaolin monk and walked into class early and watched him do 10 handstand push ups on his thumbs but was counting from 80-90 when inwalked in I was so amazed I literally just walked out to wait for class to start, but will remember that for the rest of my life was insane.
Yeah, I don't blame you.
Jackie was truly one heck of an athlete.
Love it Jackie chans one of my childhood heroes
This just confirms that the level of fitness of Jackie is crazy.
3:18 It's the part where you have to grab the water in little cups and fill the bucket at the top that makes it difficult, not just the upside down sit ups themselves..
With that said, pretty damn impressive dude.
Thanks man!
You were very generous with your score
You did very well. Congratulations
Rokas the n2 exercise the one leg pushups i think the challenge is being balanced with your core in the middle, if you rewatch jackie video, he has perfect form, meanwhile your torso is twisted to the right. But its probably not very hard anyway.
My record for standing in a 🐎 stance is 30 min. I did this cause I heard it was part of Shotokan Black Belt test.
I did not and never have used cups.
Ab Wheel while standing. I remember my little brother started to train to this and some day he pulled it out. he was so happy!
Man! I can imagine!
But he also said "It is fucking hard" ^^
5min horse stance was a daily warm-up at my kung fu school, looks like more fun with the cups (maybe not the stick)
Respect
dude, Gabby is crazy hot and you deserve her man. Also, you should keep having her in your videos. You both look so dang cute together!
Thanks!
Nice one :)))
I saw #9, 10, and 19 as exercises in Systema training
Respect on a great video idea. Yeah, it's pretty out there, but it works.
22 is actually the number of the master builder.
This is where the fun begins
that shot from 0:40 looks so good 👏
Thanks! I love that shot as well!
that really inspire me a lot.
Glad to hear it!
@@MartialArtsJourney actually I m state level kick boxing gold medalist, but because of my work and other stuff I was not able to focus on my training. This gives me some ideas. You should try akshay Kumar's training in next video. He is same gym and fitness freak as you and Jackie chan.
That dish thing is real. It is also a 'teacup' for shaolin. As far as striking out to keep water in the cup. Try and tiger palm a tennis ball over and over. without knocking it back and without letting it drop.
Ex.9 - Dish spinning one is actual Uke movement in Ikkyo (Omote or Ura) in Aikido. Do you realize it?
That montages was watched daily by me in 2009
Could u make a video about the Hapkido? Last week I had a controversial debate with a famous MMA Spanish Fighter about it, and I would love to know ur point, for me, Hapkido is a complete martial art, includes ground fight with techniques from the BJJ, armlocks, throws, kicks, punches, etc...
Awesome
Rokas where can i find a list of all aikido throws? Or video with all Aikido throws?
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/aCQ1K3PMgKM/v-deo.html
@@MartialArtsJourney Thank you ^_^
In Rumble in the Bronx he does the handstand push-ups unsupported if I recall correctly.
True!
Keep going you were so close 🙂👍
🙏
I was just telling my gf about the 3 exercises Jackie Chan does every day: punches, one legged squats, and the arms above head push up. Nice to have a clip to show her because I can't do it lol
i love how jackie chan background of baijing opera
Kudos
Thanks!
2:05 I believe this clip is from Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, not Drunken Master
7:48 you didn't need an impalement* stick.... that could be replaced with a simple bench or something....
* I had to use a translator for this word, you can use a translator as well since it's not a common word...
for the next video, do Jackie craziest stunt
Good idea, as long as I don't die 😂
@@MartialArtsJourney you'll need another crowdfunding to jump off of a helicopter into a moving train tho I believe
The GOAT ... Jackie, not Rokas .... but Roka's journey isn't over yet
😄👊
Nice one Rokas... I guess you can do the same with Bruce Lee 😁😁🙃
Push up while hand stand is a thing when I was full training in Judo. I dont dare do it again since myopia.
I did that after I saw his movies drunken fist when I was a kid. Haha
Thumbnail is wild💀
is did marzahn / hellersdorf oder spinn ick?
Let's hope Jackie himself sees this!
Jackie Chan is my favourite action star.
2:09 Thats actually not drunken master lol
"Snake in eagles shadow" is not part of the Drunken master series, even tho they have the same actors in them. Thats most old style/Wu Tang martial art movies tho lol
Although 2 seconds after that IS DRUNKEN MASTER, in fact the very first one.
Rumble int he bronx he does it in hand stand free and you can see it all.. he also walks on his hands after to get the door.
Красавчик. Если учесть, что хоть Джеки и уникальный человек, но всё это снималось не одним дублем и не все нюансы видеомонтажа видны, 22:13.5 с учётом реальности это почти 1:1
Have you ever think of getting Jack to react to his own exercise? To me these exercise is a lost art.
Should ask your wife tickle you while you're doing horse stance just like Jackie Chan in his Drunken Master film. Its a part from the training lol.. Btw love your video
Roka you are still an amazing young man. Stay strong, healthy, and continue to enjoy your wife's company.
If a person visits a fitness club 3 times a week for 2 hours, then he, consider, does not know how to do anything. Mastery is gained in specialized schools, where they conduct 2-3 workouts for 5-6 hours daily.
Jackie Chan N1
4 out of 10 for upside down situps. BUT HIS HEAD WAS ON HIS KNEES DOING THIS, YOU BARELY MADE 90 degree.
how would jackie do in mma?
Probably not great since you have to train for mma to be good at mma. But he's amazing at the things he does!
its fighting. can he fight or not?@@MartialArtsJourney
Bruce lee sir..... And jackie chan sir ....both showed different fighting style which is not similar to each other except wing chun... ...bruce believe Martial art while jackie believe in Martial art + stunt....due to which both have name in the world level.... And nobody can touch them thier popularity
Chuck Norris is a big jump rope guy.
Love the team with wifey
Thanks! Glad to hear it
did you see how jackie made the sit ups with the cups and your sit ups its even not close as jackie like the push ups on a matt.
Dish spinning
Dish switcher
His "buddy" is Yuen Biao.
🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👍👍👍💪💪💪
