I’m so glad that Eugene and the crew was able to show Jessi in this way, like a humble and funny and confident person, instead of how Unpretty Rapstar portrayed her as the b**ch and as a loud and rude person. They can showcase her real personality, which I think is really cool. Nice job 👍
EDIT: So my comment was a bit unclear, lemme clarify. Jessi is a queen, she has an amazing stage presence and aura with some serious skills not to mention her personality, which is funny, cute, and charismatic. I am in NO way calling her lazy rude, etc. and I don't mean to offend any Korean shows either. It did first come to my attention through UPR, but after watching even more shows (Let's eat dinner together, Show me the money, High school rapper, etc. etc.) I noticed that they weren't directly portraying her badly, but especially in ways they edited/added effects seemed to throw her shade. It has been mentioned in the comments, too. I think the replies here are assuming that I'm foreign, and that was quick. True, I may not have 100% knowledge on Korean pop culture and shows out there, but it's a bit early to be assuming that I'm not Korean? Anyway, hope that clears it up :) Sorry if I've offended you, I think my comment was just worded a bit badly. Have a nice day if you've read this far
The korean shows are doing better at showing her playful/Sweet side. In the Refund Girls project, she's shown in a better light along side other powerful women. I think that's part of the problem; usally she's the most confident and outspoken woman on a show, but in that group, she's one of many and that it's a positive thing.
I've always seen the negative comments about Jessi. But, I really find her genuine in variety shows. She seems to light up the place.

I know this must have been a meaningful video for Eugene to create. Both of them are Korean-Americans who grew up forced into different molds that weren't true to them. At some point, they both were like 'f*** it' and became true to themselves. Both of them are such authentic inspirations to other people. And side note -- it annoys me how good at everything Eugene is! I WISH I HAD TALENT!!!

I freaking LOVE Jessie. There are so many haters on Instagram saying that she shouldn't be herself in a country like South Korea, but no bitch. Everyone needs to be themselves. She already tried the route of behaving like every other k-pop star but she's not like that. She can't be like that. She can't fit herself into the mold and after years she finally accepted that.

Because idols are marketed to be ideal, hence the term 'idol'. They are supposed to be everything an average person isn't; attractive, charismatic, talented, intelligent among many other redeeming qualities. Most of them don't have the freedom at all to act the way they like because they have an image to uphold. It is a terrible truth on the kpop industry, artists being treated like prisoners by the powerful people in their management.

I recommend watching Jessi's show on the Mobidic channel. It really showcases how sweet and real she is. She manages to create a comfortable experience for her guests (some of them idols) in a way that makes them forget about the public persona they have to uphold. It's refreshing to see idols let loose a little with Jessi.
Her Afterschool episode was a really good example too!
Shes so open that it makes this vibe for idols to think that oh she can curse she's so open. Maybe I can be too. I love that vibe. She's awesome.
I honestly think she has this talent. When I watch her guest in kvariety shows I feel she is so real in front of the camera, like what you see is what you get. Its like being with a friend you’ve known for a long time and can be comfortable around with.

I am really happy for this collabbb.. Not only we saw both of our queens interact, but the fact we were able to see how Jessi is. A lot of people sees her as this strong woman, well she is, but as a negative image. She's strong person, and that's what we love about her. She doesn't blend in, she puts the spotlight on herself. She's one of the most influential person in my life because she empowers women more than she knows. She gives us a pathway, along with other Idols, to be able to tough and strong... it's fine to be not in the standards of everyone. Keep on shining Queen!! I love youuuu and Thank you for the TryGuys for letting the world see her as this strong yet a big lovable woman she is.

As a Korean, seeing Jessi speak English this well is so weird. She always has this image off-stage of being a kind of... it's hard to explain, but she speaks Korean just barely below perfectly, and her strong aura seems much more exaggerated almost comedically so, honestly. So seeing her being this perfectly articulate and fitting in right on with the vibes makes her seem more level headed and centered as well.
It's amazing what using another language can do to your image.
Think that relates to what she said about occupying 2 spaces and not allowing herself to be who she isn't (Tried the k-pop thing, but they questioned her euthenticity (spelling bad lol) so she owning both. She knows English better than korean

In the most positive way possible, Jessi is the embodiment of “I’m not like most girls” cause she seriously hasn’t conformed to Korean societies expectation of how a woman should be and gave haters the biggest middle finger. All while being one of the best talents in kpop and being herself.
Edit: I read everyone’s comments and thank you for correcting me and kindly reminding me why the comment comes across as a backhanded compliment. I never meant it in a negative way and apologize. I would never wanna belittle her hard work or try and make a joke of her. She’s been one of my biggest inspirations, as a young LGBT Asian living in North America she has inspired me to live my life unapologetically while not trying to change to make others happy.
Jessi overall is just an amazing idol and really an inspiration for younger generations to love themselves and be whoever they want to be. I will keep the comment the same as a lesson to others for watching what they say and picking their words properly.

Jessi merits more acknowledgment. She hasn't followed cultural standards, is her most genuine self, and expresses her real thoughts. She is really a motivation.

Side note, I am so happy that Psy made P Nation. It's still new, but it's easy to see that artists signed with him are allowed to be who they want to be and they're much happier. Jessi, being the excellent judge of character that she is, decided to sign with a label that was brand new, and that makes me trust Psy so much. I will support this company with all my heart so it can grow and take in more artists that want to be treated like humans. Hyuna and Dawn are much better off there than with Cube.
I'm excited to see what P Nation brings next after finding out they signed Hyuna, Dawn and Heize. They're very experienced and talented k-artists, looking forward to see what Psy is upto with his artists.
