Seach UA-cam for "Dyson V10 Reliability : Battery failure at 18 months." This is the single most important video you must watch as a dyson owner. Basically the video says that you should not charge the vacuum immediately after your usage session, instead wait for the vacuum to cool down for 30 to 45 minutes, then charge it. The video goes into how to set up a timer to automate this process.
*Works great and is lightweight **MyBest.Tools** Comes apart for cleaning/fits back together easily. It replaced my carpet shampooer. Great on hardwood as well.*
I was interested in the v10. But I can’t justify the price considering the v11 and v15 models make it “old”. But I got the exact shark model for nearly 1/3 of the price of a v10. My decision is based on the fact that it’s not perfect and seeing the shark so the same test and doing an equal and better in other scenarios because the v10 can’t take in bigger bits. Shame because I’m a dyson fan and rate them. This shark is my first shark.
Because people are using them for their entire home and replacing their traditional mains powered cleaners for the battery powered versions. It’s just not good enough. They are okay for quick clean ups but not for a proper clean, you need a traditional mains vac for that.
It kind of depends on how much you want to spend on a Vacuum. Dyson Vacuums are good, but they are so damn expensive. Also depends on what cleaning jobs you need done. I have no pets and only 2 carpeted floors, So my Shark APEX does a great job for what I need and would rather have corded than cordless. I dont need a Vacuum that can suck up ping pong balls through a keyhole. Again it is up to the individuals needs on which is right for them.
I have a dyson v10 absolute and I have a shark 702... the sharks just as good and I don't have to worry about its battery failing or running out in 20 minutes everytime i use it. The sharks cord is very long also so I don't have to move plug sockets often
After 2years my dyson battery was probably half of its initial capacity, and needed constant declogging, and filter cleaning. Probably spent equal time maintaining the vacuum as I did actually using it. Not paying that price again... 😒
Ditto, had the same problem with our V11 but Dyson have been dreadful fixing the problem. Customer services are useless 2 months on the problem is still not fixed, swapped the battery and still not working. 3 times they were due to collect it and 3 times no one turned up. Will never buy a Dyson again. Better off buying a brand new shark every year and it would still be cheaper.
Actually, the pick up performance is determined by a number of factors, including the amount of agitation! Suction or just Air Watts alone does not clean without rotating brushes. What I dislike about this video is that they are using the Dyson in Max mode! Dyson do not recommend using their machines in Max mode as it does not do the battery any good and it degrades the battery over time! The Dyson gives only 100 Air Watts when on Max for 6 minutes and only a very low Air Watts on the regular mode. The Shark requires so much maintenance and is messy to maintain. These are ideal to be on the gadget show as they are just that.
Well if dyson didn’t recommend using it in ‘max mode’ then why did they give it a ‘max mode’ button. I have a dyson and a ‘max mode’ never needed to use it yet in 2 years. But it’s still there to use. Bit like giving a car 7 gears but saying only use 6… Max mode is for a ‘burst of power’ when needed. It’s not for continues use. Obviously. Where’s as on a car 7th gear is great for motorway cruising 😂
@@smoothie9931 No, it's not an accurate test compared to a vacuum that doesn't have the exact same angle. That would be like testing a Volkswagen Passat hatchback to a turbocharged Toyota Camry hatchback.
@@theylied1776 not really. If the hose has a bend in it by design, that's as accurate as the test is gonna be. It has the suction that it was tested at, even if it doesn't fully show the suction of the motor. If the results are lower because of the bend in the hose... you still have to use those results, since the bend is part of the design
@@TheSpeedfreak665 I agree but suction power isn’t everything. It still needs to do the job properly. I’ve seen cordless shark beat corded dyson that has significantly more power than its cordless ones. And it does a better job doing the same tests. There’s countless videos on UA-cam showing that. Despite been a fan of dyson. I’m trying a shark this exact model actually. Finding this video was a coincidence cos it was just in recommended and it didn’t state the model it was testing. But I think based on other user reviews I think I haven’t made a mistake.
Ironically we have a corded Dyson and have just got a cordless shark. The shark is much more convenient and actually picks up better. Pine needles were not it's strength but for general purpose it does very well.
Have both brands myself and the shark is the much better vacuum without comparison. Not sure if you notice but after 12 months the Dyson gets worse but have seen no issue with my shark and it’s 22 months strong
There's another test, when actually in use, how weight is distributed. Even with low weight, dyson have most of their weight on the handle when Shake put most of its weight on the ground. So it's more tiring with dyson.
Of course not the v7 is not a replacement for a mains powered vacuum. It’s an addition between weekly deep cleans. If you put the test up against a dyson that was meant to replace a mains powered vacuum being the V10 - V11 or V15 you would see that it not only out performs the shark by a long way but has all the added benefits of a cordless. On top of that the sharks filtration system is a hepa filter and a sponge… verse the Dylan’s that is a filter that filters down to 0.3 microns from the dirty and dusty floors you’re vacuuming. The filtration is a massive part to consider. You literally put the most under powered, and not a replacement for a corded vacuum, dyson against a mains powered vacuum. Not quite a fair test, also as I use both of these vacuums almost daily the bun capacity’s are much more different then shown. You are meant to slightly exceed the max fill line on a dyson (being about 5-10mm over), where as you didn’t even reach the max fill line on the V7.

This isn't even the latest Dyson though; you tested a 5 year old machine against the latest Shark? The V11s can run for an hour, have a runtime indicator and have a really effective anti-tangle tool for long hair
