he needs time ;) Players tend to love him when he gets a few years with them. He's running the Dutch national team now - press conferences are back! (for us - in Dutch). He's a bit more mellow now, but only slightly. Perhaps relaxed is a better word - he did retire after all and was living in Portugal. Football beckoned - and he once again raised the confidence of many players. And had short term results, against all odds - though we are definitely not there yet. Again, like with MU, he's given only little time to do what he does best... Creating an unbreakable teamspirit - especially for newcomers and young men (under 30). He's a brutally honest but very perceptive man, often misunderstood and always in a bitter fight with the (sensationalist) press ;)
I love LVG and his work with very young players. Man is an absolute legend for his work at ajax, barca and then bayern. 15+ years of continuous success.

The fact that LVG won the FA Cup and finished level on points with City despite the constant rumors of his imminent sacking is something is amazing.
Some of the comments on here are baffling, thankful to Louis that we won the FA Cup but we didn’t make the top 4 even when everyone around us that season was poor (Chelsea, Liverpool, City). The football we played was so mind numbingly boring that it was a no brainer for him to be sacked in the end.

The media were speculating that his time was probably up there, especially after getting knocked out of the champions league after drawing the single easiest group in the competition's history. On a side note, we lost that game against Stoke he talked about, 2-0. Things were not going well for United at that point. The media have the right to criticise.

LVG would have won the premiere league if he had 4 transfer windows, but obviously united were more interested in commercial business. LVG was not backed by board... neither Jose. United had good managers but they needed time. LVG took Netherlands to semi final in world cup and lost in penalties.
