- Chris Arpin provides a quick overview of Createx AutoBorne Sealer, the starting ground-coat for all Createx paintjobs onto hard-surface substrates. For more, please refer to our in-depth AutoBorne Sealer video, • Createx AutoBorne Sealer , AutoBorne Sealer, autoborne.com/
Kind of new to this, I actually got 4021 since it was the "new better 4011". I googled and could not find if 4021 makes a suitable thinner for the sealer, or I need to go get some 4011 just for application of this. Doing some motorcycle helmet painting going for chrome, tried a few different black primers and it seems a gloss black is key this product has my attention due to the adhesion and strength and also I want to play with some of the Candy colors and this was the normal base for that.
Wondering if black autoborn with a dusting of silver autoborn would actually give a good chrome effect?
I also use the Transparent Sealer as an adhesive undercoat for hot stamp foil on fishing lures.
Excellent, thanks!
Chris, do you have a mix of createx that would match Porsche guards red? I’ll be painting my truck this summer and would like to use createx.
How long will the autoborne sealers keep in their original factory sealed containers? I've got a bottle of sealer white I was going to use, I've had it for about 2 years and haven't opened it yet.
All Createx paints, including AutoBorne Sealer, have a 2-year product guarantee that the product is in good condition when first opened. Actual shelf-life is in excess of 10-years. Thank you.
I have a question. Its about bleeding. I m painting helmets and am now turning to createx auto air en wicked paints. Before i was able to fix the bleeding with some thinner and a cuetip. How can i fix any bleeding with your paint? And i know, preventing is better than fixing. But never the less somethimes there is a mistake to fix. Best regards
The best way to prevent candy2o dyes from leaching (bleeding) is to apply a catalyzed (2k) urethane clear. Thank you.
My biggest issue is cleaning after spraying. The product has to be the hardest to clean. I read use hot water and 4011. Any other products that will clean the spray guns.
4008 Restorer cleans spray guns and airbrushes of cured paint, including AutoBorne Sealer, createxcolors.com/reducers-additives/cleaners. Use 4008 Restorer as a soak for nozzles, caps and metallic parts, after which paint will easily wash out with warm water and a brush. 4008 Restorer is reusable. Keep it in a ceramic coffee cup (not plastic) and it can be used for several months / indefinitely as a soak for parts after painting. Thank you.
Is the silver the only metallic?
In the AutoBorne Sealer range yes, however they're are several dozen metallic colors in the Wicked Colors line, which works like AutoBorne when mixed with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, wickedairbrushcolors.com/pearl-and-metallic. Thanks.
Is this ok to apply with a regular hand paint brush? Or is this a air brush use sealer only?
AutoBorne Sealer can be applied with a traditional brush. Thank you.
what sort of containers do you guys store paints or mixed paints in
does anything that is labeled airtight work
also optimally should the container be completely full with no air at the top
We use the bottles the paints come is to keep the paint. Just keep the bottle or jar capped air-tight unless actually pouring paint. Store in a cool, dry environment away from direct light, such as a cabinet. Thank you.
What are some alternatives to PPG SX 320 when degreasing is needed between Createx sealer or base coats?
HoK KC-20, thanks.
you often talk about solvent based wax and grease remover to clean your paint. Is Prep-All wax & grease acceptable?
The best cleaner for Createx paints is a post-sanding, solvent-based degreaser, which is not as aggressive as a pre-sanding cleaner made to help lift dirt from crevices before sanding. The post-sanding, solvent-based degreaser is made to clean paint. We use PPG SX-320. Many other brands of a post-sanding degreaser can be used. Always test first before using on an actual paint project. Prep-all is a fast, pre-sanding degreaser. Try a less aggressive degreaser made to clean paint, not the substrate. Thank you.
Roughly how much mixed product would i need for 1 coat on a small car? 240sx size?
Approximately 40oz. sprayable with AutoBorne Sealer White or Black. Thank you.
I only have a .3mm needle for airbrush. Will this still work?
Primers such as AutoBorne Sealer are best applied with enough material to create good ground-coat to work from which has excellent adhesion. A 0.5mm tip-size is the minimum recommended tip-size for applying primers like AutoBorne Sealer. Thank you.
Can you use this directly to plastic
Yes, AutoBorne Sealer is excellent direct to plastic. Of all the sealers, AutoBorne 6000 Transparent Sealer has the best adhesion and should be used for hard plastics such as ABS which have a high durometer. Thank you.
Would using the transparent sealer be a suitable replacement for a solvent-based primer over a hockey mask to ensure adhesion?
Anything else you'd recommend other than PPG 320 ? It's hard to find online or in my area.
Any post-sanding, solvent-based degreaser. Avoid a pre-sanding degreaser which is more aggressive so the solvent helps "lift" dirt out of crevices. A more mild solvent-based degreaser works best for all paints, including Createx. Thank you.
Can you apply autobourne sealer direct to steel or stainless steel? Would it adhere well? This would be on a project that wouldn't be exposed to water.
While adhesion is good, AutoBorne Sealer isn't a direct-to-metal primer. For edge-to-edge metal paintjobs, start with a DTM primer, then AutoBorne Sealer. AutoBorne Sealer is made with driers, so risk of corrosion is minimized; if a small area of metal is exposed (for ex. sanding through the OEM finish while prepping a motorcycle tank for paint) and covered direct by AutoBorne Sealer it should be OK, but for a complete metal substrate, start with a DTM primer. Thank you.
@@CreatexColors Thanks so much for the info!!
I paint plastic model cars . I am having issues with the paint pulling off using low tack tape. It seems to sperate between the Autoborne sealer and the silver sealer. How can this be prevented ? Thanks
Apply 6013 AutoBorne Silver Sealer direct to the plastic. AutoBorne Sealer requires a full 48-hour air dry time for a full cure. When applied to plastic prepared by scuffing and cleaning, adhesion should be good for taping 1 to 4-hours after application. For more, please refer to the AutoBorne tech sheet available at www.autoborne.com. Thank you.
@@CreatexColors So I use a 2k Urethane clear as a carrier for my flake and then airbrush my stuff over that. I'm having a hell of a time with tape pulling off my paint. I had been using a Urethane based airbrush ready paint and cannot seem to fix this issue. Pulls off every time. Will clear sealer bond to the 2K sealer so I can airbrush over it? Any recommendations? I plan on giving Createx a whirl.....
What product Do you recommend for a top coat (so water will not wash off)
For automotive, we recommend a solvent-based, catalyzed (2k) urethane clear. Thank you. ua-cam.com/video/JuroIpJOCNo/v-deo.html
Uvls clear from Createx is amazing for most applications. Like they said, use 2k clear for automotive stuff. I personally put uvls gloss down first to protect from UV rays, then move to 2k clears.
also another question will you guys ever sell 16 or 32 oz of the cmyk illustration colors / a primary set thats 16 or 32 oz like you do for the createx wicked primaries
We do not have plans to offer Illustration Colors in 16oz or 32oz sizes. Thank you.
Will it have a good adhesion on lead? And Can the transparent also be used as a carrier for mica powders or pigments?
AutoBorne Sealer works direct to lead. For a pearl-flake carrier medium, AutoBorne 6000 Transparent Sealer works, and so does 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear. Thank you.
