Thanks for watching! Yes, absolutely. I wish they'd release a modern synth with that technology, with today's CPUs it could have virtually endless polyphony. ;-)
There is a program called "VL Wizard" which is rumoured to be compatible, but I never managed to get it to work. They have a demo, so you can try your luck: www.vl70m-editor.com/site/
Hello Floyd! I am an admirer here from Brazil, I would like to leave 3 questions of the ex5 Yamaha. here in our country We know that yamaha ex5 is a machine, but not everyone knows how to use it. 1- you can take a Review teaching how to use two simultaneous tones, for example: Piano and Pad, Piano and strings 2- Is there a possibility to create high quality acoustic pianos? 3- How to record on separate tracks? Piano, bass, guitar and drum sequencing. Thank you waiting for the reply
Hi, thanks for watching! I covered most of your questions in this video: ua-cam.com/video/EP2YSGHN-fo/v-deo.html (and just realized it was missing from that list, so thanks for contacting me :-) ) It's possible to create a good piano sound, but it's a lot of work. The best I encountered up to now is called "Simplicity 3" and it's part of a soundset you can find here www.ex5tech.co.uk/assets/files/patches/Simplicity2.zip Or download my soundset, which you can find here: www.floydsteinberg.com/ Best regards!
Another good upload. Altough there are more to it then you demonstrated, as several features of the VL engine is not available through the Control nexus itself, but can be accessed through a VL editor. I recommend Vl wizard for this.
Thanks for watching, once more. I should have mentioned the editor... But there's always so much things to tell and then you can go on for hours, but people watch my videos for 1:39 minutes on average. ;-)
The EX 5jhas the same engine as the VL-70. One difference is that the EX5 and VL7/70 only have one note polyphony in comparison to the two note polyphony of the VL1
Dear Mr, Good day I just got the same EX5 synthesizer, but I still do not use it, just the basics. I want to know how to divide the keyboard in several parts, with different instruments. How many register positions as a user, I can create and if the change access of each record is fast to play live. I am a newbie and I hope to upload more videos of this EX5 synthesizer regards
Thanks for watching! Yes, you're right and I might do another video some time. I always get a little nervous when my videos exceed 10 minutes (so, basically everytime) :-)
I only said because I get nervous everytime such a synth engine gets ignored (basically everytime, heh)... not a lot of vids about this one, hence the question:)
This is such an amazing feature of the EX5

Yea that had to be sick at that time.I was blown away with the Triton doing this in the early 2000's
Good upload, danke Alex! Will be playing with my EX5R over weekend :)
wait 'til you hear the 'growl' of the shakuhachi - the default controller is MW2
Can you edit with a computer and get access to more parameters?

Thanks man,, great job
New question: Can you have more than one VL part in multi mode?
Hi, thanks for watching! Unfortunately, no. Only one VL part possible, and when you do that, all effects will be turned off in multi mode.
Then I gotta go for the motif... thanks!
I'm wondering if Ramin Djawadi used an EX5 for parts of the GoT theme.
Thanks for watching! I thought that sounded more like an orchestra sample library. :-)
The soundcloud link doesn't work
Hi, thanks for pointing that out! I've fixed the link. It' m.soundcloud.com/floyd_steinberg/virtual-acoustic

True. :)
Snuppelppen soppelsopp - How does the EX5's physical modeling engine differ from the VL-1's?
The EX 5jhas the same engine as the VL-70. One difference is that the EX5 and VL7/70 only have one note polyphony in comparison to the two note polyphony of the VL1
Is any module with the PLG100VL board the same engine as well?

Thanks for watching, Jorge! I'll talk about that in an upcoming video. Thanks for your Input.
You basically skipped the meat of this engine... care to make a video about the control section (with the LCD view)?
Thanks for watching! Yes, you're right and I might do another video some time. I always get a little nervous when my videos exceed 10 minutes (so, basically everytime) :-)

;-) okokok will do that in the future and give you the credits. hehe
That would be nice (I mean becoming famous) :D
