One take! Ignoring random muppetry. That's when you know you're at the top of your game as a tester/presenter. Blade is awesome but that was a demo about how cool Neevesy is.
As frustrating as the oblivious muppets are standing in the way, Neevsy and McGuiness would be the only two people in that clip who have had any Media training at all. The other people just don't have an awareness of where they are in relation to a camera and what it's trying to film.
The 'muppets' in the video are the bikers I invited to get every year of FireBlade together for Honda UK at Donington. To be fair Neevesey didn't introduce himself to me or anyone, just turned up and started walking around.
I remember back in the probably early 90's I hadn't had a bike for 2 or 3 years, and I was driving to work over Staples Corner flyover and a guy came past me on the back wheel on a FireBlade, and my love of the bike started there, some years later and I've owned 5 different model FireBlades ranging from a 97 RRV to the 1000RR, but my favourite has to be the 1997 RRV Foxeye I had back in the early 2000's in HRC Colours, that bike took me into Europe touring for the first time and hooning all around the South of France with my mates, and it was that RRV that I had my first knee down, some great days I'll remember forever, I even set up and ran a FireBlade dedicated website from 2002 to 2012 and I've owned a lot of different bikes over the years, (hence the name) but the Blade will always be closest to my heart, I've only recently had to sell my Y2K 929, due to circumstances 😥 So thank you Tadao Baba you changed peoples lives forever.
That was a potted history of superbikes, cheers. Watching Neevsey walk backwards as he chats away, dropping wee pearls from the past, is totally engrossing. Much impressed I am.
Great video brought back lots of memories of a great bike. The 2004 Fireblade is one of the best bikes I've ever ridden and it was brilliant on the race track. Ride safe everyone and best wishes to you from NZ.😉
30 years... I remember going from a GS500E to the first Fireblade and it surprised me with its smoothness and total control feeling. Thank you Michael, you made me feel... (old) experienced. :-)
Can remember when the very first Blade was launched and the sensation it caused.... Performance Bikes even suggested it was perhaps too much for the average rider to cope with (!) 😀 Fabulous machines, still miss my 954 bought new in 04 as the all new 1000cc bike was then available. Thanks for a brief trip down memory lane ...
The noise restrictions at Donington are not ironic, it’s rich people moving into the area and being able to influence the local council… the track and noise was there first… their sensitive ears only flowed due to the lower price of housing due to the location by the track. A better idea would have been either knock the houses down or buy them and Air BNB’s for visitors to the track.
It was quite a difficult line up to achieve. We had to bring people from all over the UK to Donington for 8am and actually managed to bring them into Donny in chronological order much to Honda UK's surprise.
Such an epic video, i really hope this channel reaches 1 000 000 subs in a year or two, you really deserve it mister, epic commentary, epic knowledge, kudos to you Sir
While Honda's where down on power they are my favorite on the track. Just so easy to ride. I'll probably always have a 600 track built cbr in the garage.
I remember the 2008 model was such a bomb Honda finally slashed the msrp by about $3k. Massive problems with burning oil by the pint, slower than the other bikes, heavy and generally unloved. Lots of people got a great deal as they were still in crates at dealers in 2010.
As with all the superbikes that have stood the test of time, the originals always look the best! Probably why the older examples command such high prices?
Hearing “mass centralization” and “underseat pipe” in the same sentence makes me want to punch myself in the face. Those two things run in direct contrast to one another.
At that time of release I was racing with Phillip Island being my home track. The blade changed the game as it wasn’t built to go racing (WSB was 750 4 cylinder Japanese bikes and the 916). I remember being on the road (on a brand new GSXR-750) and a mate purchased the first blade. He was just an average rider, we were riding together, he overtook a bus and I followed. When we next pulled over I asked how many gears did you go down to get past the bus (I went from 6th to 4th) and he simply replied none and still pulled away from me. That made my next road bikes decision simple. Blade or nothing. 👍😎🇦🇺
@@nickloborec1416 Hi from Sandhurst. The weather should clear (although PI is always unpredictable). You just don’t want to leave the track surface as if the racers do they will go down as the grounds will be very wet. I was in the opposite grandstand to where Doohan had his famous off at turn one. I was also racing when Foggy had his famous off existing turn 2 as I was about 200 metres behind. I’ve forgotten about more laps during racing than most have done on track days which I’ve never actually done. Not going this year, however will be a couch potato. Yourself?
I miss that old era for sportbikes, when models like the Fireblade would be updated so frequently. Now it’s a quiet segment and the energy has shifted to the adventure bikes. I’m still hoping Honda updates the VFR 800/Interceptor so that it can defeat an all-rounder sportbike like the latest Ducati Supersport.
I remember when I saw first time model 98 it was a big experience in my childhood.. I was 6 maybe 8 years old. Sudly I never drove any honda, but I had few r1 and gsxr's and only thing I can say yamaha is beautiful to drive you can almost feel Rossi Dna 🧬 but suzuki is the king of reliability. You can do wheelie all day every day and this engine just asking for more.
Great off-the-cuff delivery of personal thoughts on the F-blade dynasty...well done. Only comment is that the video could be concentrated more on getting each bike in frame rather that you! Struggled to get a decent shot of any of them!
The 2020/2021 blades have proven themselves on the track? Not so much in Wsbk and certainly not in MotoAmerica. I absolutely love the blade and would own one of my 45 year old spine didn’t feel 65. Just be honest, this bike has failed to deliver on the track.
One take ... and weaved around the lunes who were blocking some of the shots. Are people really that inconsiderate or just stupid ;-) Well done - great camera work btw and content.
Always been my poster bike - no need for a 1000 in the city I live so will wait at least another 4 or 5 but when I do will be a blade if I don't go for the 600 before
Well done very informative, seems strange to me that the people milling around presumably ride bike's but had very little awareness of your presence. 😳😨
Neevesy is a beast, all that in a single take & dealing with people walking around. True professional!
Most impressive thing here is Neevsey delivering that in one go with no editing/cutting! 👏
One take! Ignoring random muppetry. That's when you know you're at the top of your game as a tester/presenter. Blade is awesome but that was a demo about how cool Neevesy is.
that random muppetry was the legendary McGuiness
The sheer amount of riding experience this man has is just phenomenal. Wish I could sit down with him and chat over a cup of coffee.
What a line up! Thanks Neevsy.
Interest that John McGuiness was the most aware and happy to move out of shot that anyone else. Top man.

What a treat! Fantastic to see 30 years of Fireblades like that with, as always, great commentary from Mr. Neeves.
We are doing it at Donington again at World Superbikes this time with a twist. 17th July.
Nothing motivates me more to get out on a bike than seeing and hearing Neevesy talk about bikes.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the incredible condition those old ones are in?
They look brand new.
Thanks, our members spend ages cleaning their bikes up for our events.
the original 92 model still looks fantastic! they all do, ive always been a honda fan.
This is why MCN is the best. Brilliant walkthrough of the bikes throughout time and helping us travel in time to what the sport bike market was like.

4:59 pure cameo from THE John McGuinness!
That 2010 Black/Gold/Silver one is an absolute stunner!
Thanks, I'll let the owner know!

Whatever MCN pays Neevsy probably isn’t enough 😂. Never let this man leave
The gen 1 SP (2014) in HRC colours is still my favourite.
Quality! great seeing all these blades together.. I had three over the years, great bikes well done Neavesy great chat !! 🤙

John McGuinness cameo. Epic

Great bikes - I've owned half of em! Still got a 'red white blue' 93 in the garage. So tempted by the anniversary model!
honda fireblade sc77 pretty underated superbike. RCfourfive flashes made it a beast of a bike , best styling honda to date
Great video Michael. Appreciate all your efforts mate 👍🏻
Hell of a presentation with the crowd around!!! Good history lesson also. I still remember my 929 w gearing/ Erion slip on hitting Streets of Willow
I loved the one with can an under seat that Rutter and Kyo dominated on
Seen a 2021 fireblade in the flesh 2 weeks ago the quality of the finish is superb 👌
Thank you Mr Neeves, for showing us this amazing trip of let's be honest amazing bikes...
God damn there's a lot of gormless people wandering around.
Neevesy superb review and historical lesson, as always!!!
Owned a "98 & "99 Blade.Easy going bikes.
He should've name dropped John McGuiness as the King of the Mountain wielding a Fireblade
And even the honda devision mugen made a special edition fireblade.
Again, another great video. Love the history of the blade.

great presentation
I like my 1994 CBR900RR and love my 2006 CBR 1000 Double R just as much teamhonda over here
'Blade is kinda the bike equivalent of Porsche's 911 in terms of evolution and iconic status. So many parallels (no pun intended).
@10:12 the guy who steps into view is the one of the lead engineers for the new blade
Love my 2007...
That name is perfect!
Shows a thumbnail riding a bike. Doesn’t ride a single bike in the video
Fireblade was always a bridesmaid and never the bride....Great bike throughout its history but always over shadowed by something else.
Funny that cause cbr 600 has won some of the hardest bike races in the world
Do people in the UK wear full leathers when they ride in the road?
Honda. ❤️
3 BSB races it's won Neevsey, and it's the North West 200 not 2000
Beautiful.
