    I'm a proud Coromantee Descendant. From the Harris Clan of Moore Town Jamaica. Happy to see you dive more into the African Atlantic world and the many Nations that existed and still exist. If you haven't already look into the Miskito Kingdom which were a mixture of native central Americans and Africans called Zambo. The British were allied with them and actually used Miskito mercenaries in the first Maroon war. Much Love.

      @@abibjahleel419 yes it began there, what 300,000 years ago! People move around. The sons of Jacob were dark skinned we know that. The tribe of Gad went to Ethiopia, kept the writings and traditions going. The other tribes were scattered as it says, taken to far away places on ships in iron shackles round their necks, as stated in the book. Have you ever heard of hebrew israelites? It's where i first heard about it. I said, what about the white jews? Well they were converts from Uzbekhistan, claiming the land in 1100. Then there is the Azkhanazi who converted for political reasons.
      I myself have some Native American in me, they also say they were tribes of Jacob. Sounds a bit far fetched but then interestingly they already believed in God before the whites arrived.

    Odd title.. but I think I get what you were going for, also alot of the time the Maroon chiefs ignored the "take back treaty" especially the windward maroons.. also women would fight alongside the men if they displayed physical &tactical ability.. this is how THE most infamous maroon of all NANNY came to be.. she was seen as a witch a strategist a sorceress a demon etc.. but in reality she was a herbal prodigy who could heal almost all ailments whilst also being an EXTREMELY gifted marksman (markswoman) &fighter who was thought to be invincible &able to catch bullets
    it is possible she wore hidden metallic armour underneath her clothing in order to further spread the myth, as even the white militia men were shit scared of her &grew to know if they heard her special horn they were doomed as the maroons never lost a battle when she was present
    She was also thought to be somewhat crazy, as she on numerous occasions suggested wiping out the entire white population &taking over the country.. something her more level headed brother Cudjo advised against (ngl personally im with her on that one lol) as he felt it would bring the wrath of not just the British but all the other white powers of the day.. as he had no idea what their true numbers in Europe were &sought to secure a life where they could flourish in peace without fighting.. NANNY ironically though a woman was content to fight the enslavers till her dying breath &had no qualms about wiping them from the face of the earth (she was a complicated woman)

    Given Kromantie location in central region and being by coast, they most certainly were primarily Fante! it’s possible some small element of GA and other Akans as well if captured as slaves. the narrative as Ashanti is questionable given that in that period, they were the conquering/expanding tribe rather enslaving other groups.
    another interesting fact from Jamaican maroon history is an important figure named Tackie. that name is only found amongst GA tribe in Ghana as Tackie or Fante’s as Takyi. appreciate the video

      Tackey was said to be a Fante prince who became a prisoner of war and sold off to the British. The Fante were allies or supposedly under the British protectorate. The Ashanti actually fought wars against the British. Seeing Jamaica was a British colony. It makes sense that Ashanti and other Akans not under the British protectorate would be the one's enslaved.

    • @viewerga
      @viewerga Рік тому

      @@KO..... no question all Ghanaian tribes would have been impacted by slave trade. the question posed is only to highlight an argument i’ve heard from Fante’s, that have expressed issue with Kromantee’s being labeled Asante’s. Remember the anglo-asante wars take place during 1820s thru 1900. the Kromantee in Queen Nanny and Tackie, were already in Jamaica in the 1700s. so we would not have witnessed an influx of Asante’s amongst the enslaved in their time, but for certain other Akans impacted by their expansion period would have been.
