What are VLANs? This is an animated video explaining what a VLAN is and how it works. Virtual local area network. ► VLAN switch I purchased ► amzn.to/4dpz2KY (Amazon affiliate) #VLAN
How do you animate these videos Is it blender or something else Can you please tell me You are great Thank you for these videos it helps me for my ccna course We can understand any concepts just by watching your videos You should have 10+ million subscribers
This Switch does not allow for VLAN/Subnet creation You need a router to create a Subnet/VLAN and assign an IP Address to that Subnet/VLAN All you can do with this Switch is assign a VLAN ID to its ports but you cannot configure VLANs as a whole I purchased this Switch and there was no option to create a VLAN
I really don’t know how you have come up with such a systematic way of explaining everything...with the graphic visual aids and all.. it’s like a meticulously crafted training video for troops going to war...probably better... it’s just ineffable! It is almost like you ARE a computer... Thank you for these immaculate sessions.
His animated videos are as SIMPLE as it gets (for dummies) .... If you don't understand this EASY interpretation, then you should look into something else. If i was to teach someone VLAN, i would do it IDENTICAL to this one because its really SIMPLE .. Unfortunately we have people that cannot think on this easy of a level ...
Thank you for these great videos. As an IT Director, I can conceptualize much, but I will always need to return to basic explanations so as to not only refresh myself, but also to convey information to others in a layperson format. The simplicity and straightforward explanations presented in these videos are truly appreciated!
I took a seven weeks networking course at a community college and at the end of week 7, i still did not understand what a vlan was. I am surprised at how i have understood it in less than 5 minutes with the help of this video. Now i need to go and learn how this is actually done.
Man I don’t know how to thank you, although that i’m not an english native speaker but the fact that you are talking slowly and clearly make me understand everything. Thank you so much 🌷
can't stop watching your videos. you have got such a good way to explain those complex things in very systematic way that one gets interested in the topic.
You deserve millions of subscribers. I already knew what VLANS were but I have never come across a better explanation than this one. I'm currently on a binge of your videos because they are just that good. Bravo.
By watching your videos, I find it so easy to understand "complex" networking concepts! You have done such a great work explaining the basics and your videos are so easy to follow, specially to visual learners like me, and the animations superb! Hoping you can keep contributing with your knowledge and capacity to make things simple. THANKS!!
I am from Tanzania have learnt alot through ur channel thank you so much sir ur the best u teach so well even a nursery student could understand, thumbs up
Just had my brain scrambled watching a You Tube video on VLAN, the presenter used far too much tech speak and then I found your video. Excellent explanation and excellent graphics. Thanks for unscrambling my brain!!
Tomorrow is my competency test, and this video is very very helpful, your explanation and animation is easy to understand!, now i won't confused how to explain what VLAN it is, hope i can pass the test tomorrow, thank you! :D
Superb explanation. I eagerly await for videos from you. Please do make more videos as and when possible. Thank you for another nicely explained video. I would rate these videos equal to or better than Cbt Nuggets.
Haha. As I EXPECTED!!! I was a little bit confused when my colloge prof discussed about this, but you freaking explain it for only 5 minutes and I freaking get it EASILY! THANKS AGAIN and I'LL COME BACK! Haha
Such a perfect elaboration about VLAN. Please make some videos about AD (Active Directory). What would be more better to learn about that specific topic. Advance thanks😍
I work in entertainment, and we've had to begin learning the basics of networking to get our devices to talk correctly. It's funny because in our industry, we rely on broadcast a lot. sACN for example is a protocol where one device like a Lighting Console will broadcast packets of lighting data, so that any receivers wherever they are on the network can subscribe to that broadcast and get the lighting data they need. As many receivers as you want can listen to similar broadcast messages. Those can really clog a network since the broadcast is a continuous stream of data. The sACN protocol supports sending a maximum of 33 million Bytes of data each frame for DMX.
AWESOME VIDEOS☺ I like that your videos are short, to the point and easy to follow. They are helping me understand topics I'm studying. Keep up the good work. Thanks
- separating broadcast domains/LANs at the switch - done by designating sets of specific ports on the switch to specific VLANs -Purpose of a vlan is security, traffic management, and simplified LANs by separation
These are FANTASTIC videos in every sense. A beginner/novice, the tech savvy, and the advanced IT Pro can all appreciate the simplicity, yet detailed and visually understandable content you're producing. I subscribed a few weeks ago (with notification) and I plan to watch your entire catalogue in the coming weeks. VERY well done! Cheers, -H.B.
Wow, I can't thank you enough! This explanation was incredibly helpful. I was feeling really confused, but now everything makes sense. Thank you again! 🌟😊
You need to change your thinking because frames are only tagged when they are transmitted on a trunk link. If a frame is sent down an "access link then there is no tag. VLANs are used to extend broadcast domains across multiple switches.

And still there are dislikes for some reasons...
Great vid. Makes VLANs seem pretty simple. Thanks!
I love this channel for doing IT work.
Another great video 👍 We are using VLANs mostly for isolation, to protect back ups from other segments of the network.
Nice explanation mate usually I don't comment on videos but it is helpful
You really deserve more likes

Well done in your explanation very clear and easy to understand not like some other mumbo jumbo stuff i come across elsewhere I will subcribe
Thank you for this great explanation!
you explained this better in four minutes than my profesor in two hours
Lol. True
Beautifully explained
This channel is gold, thank you!
Thank you for helping me get my Sec+ cert!
VLANs finally clicked with me several years back when I realized its literally just a packet with an ID number.
That's literally all it is. Tagged packet.
802.1Q to be exact
frames not packets
I thought of it as a seperate cable for each connection. Easiest.
You need to change your thinking because frames are only tagged when they are transmitted on a trunk link. If a frame is sent down an "access link then there is no tag. VLANs are used to extend broadcast domains across multiple switches.
تحية من العراق 🇮🇶 what a great vedio
Best explanation of a VLAN that I have seen - keep up the great work.
