Its not a good idea to arm it as you did at 8:30. The safe way is to block the spring with your foot, engage the trigger while releasing the spring slowly. Good work!
Dear Koss, great work! Could you share a photo (with the good quality that you usually take) with the final surface of the steel? I'm restoring and old Goldenberg hammer, and when i saw your video i thoght to use Iron(III) chloride for final surface finish. Kind regards for you!
We used to call these ‘gin traps’ in the olden days in England! Good resto, like it!
AMAZING RESTORATION!!!

I loved the final color of the trap, so rustic but so modern

Played with one of those at my cousins one time and snapped it on my fingers definitely woke me up. Nothing broke or cut thankfully

Everything you do is very detailed, you don't cut corners, great job! Mind if I ask what that rust converter is made of? Keep up the good work!👍
В детстве боялся этих капканов как огня... :)
Very skilfully done...but these things are horrible devices & should be melted down & turned into something useful!
Looks more like a repair than a restoration to me, excellent job tho
пружина после молотка самое оно=D да и дуги должны быть в одной плоскости))

I've always been curious, what exactly does the ferric chloride do to the metal?
It etches the surface and chemically darkens certain areas, a bit like the chemical used for darkening the metal on a firearm.
Enjoyed the resto muchly, but it does kinda look the same after the acid... 😁
Can you please send me all templates for the spear knive? I want to try it myself. thx
Can you name all the equipment used
Nice work but not a pleasant item to restore.
