That Mercedes 540K coupe was molded in the BEST maroon color I`ve ever seen It did NOT need to be painted! A polishing and a coat of Ultra Gloss clear laquer really produced a first rate finish. These Monogram classics are outstanding models and real pleasures to build.
My kit must have been tossed around a bit. The plastic had a beautiful gleam to it but was scratched all over the place, Gluing the top on would have presented a situation I didn't have the skills to do correctly!
That is pretty ! That is MCW paint that actually went on ok for me, though I can't remember which Maroon I used, sorry! Thanks for stopping by George! Pleasure to share with you my friend!!
E-bay, though not the cheapest at times, gives you your best choices, unwrapped is best. Good luck and show us what you build please? Subbed your channel, super nice builds!
Mom built all the Monogram Classics when I was a kid and while I thought they were cool they didn't have guns or mags so I wasn't interested in building any myself. Until recently. I built all the Phaetons in the series last year-the Cadillac is my fave.
I built some of these when I was a kid in the 60's. The Cord, the Mercedes 540K cabriolet and a Rolls Royce town car. I still have them in a box in the garage!
Great looking builds nice to see someone building them. Just seen one of those kits with the Lincoln and the 29/30 ford kit may have to go back and get it.
Another fun video Billy. I just love these kits. I bought a few off ebay a while back I need to get out and touch up. Going down to spend some time with my lincoln right now. I been waiting all day lol
Top class kits not only for their period. The quality and finish of Monogram plastic is still unpaired. Wonderful instruction sheets, with plenty of photos and directions for a perfect assembly. Early issue box arts were very fashionable too. I can't forgive who chose to give priority to Revell in spite of Monogram.
The early kits w/4 stars are the cleanest kits,as molds were new. The early directions were mostly reading with a tough to follow black and white photo. A lot different then later versions. Thanks for stopping by!
That must be a new kit. I remember Revell and Monogram merged into one company. Then maybe 10 years ago Revell did the Black Widow (a 57 Chevy) a subject I've wanted to do for years. There were these old kits in the 1970's I'm not sure all of those features were in them nor do I remember if it was Monogram who did those kits. Good build here. It has been a while for me
Most of the Monogram classic kits date back to the early 1960's, I built some as a kid in the early 70's . I highly recommend these kits to build and enjoy! Mpc, AMT, Testors are some others that did classic kits. Monogram kits build easily and other than chrome parts installation can be fussy, any of the 13 kit editions are very rewarding, available and not too expensive! Try one??
I have the Monogram “Museum Pieces” The Classic Lincoln Continental. I got it at a contest/show& someone started it but I m looking forward to seeing if I can achieve your wonderful results. Thanks for sharing.
David R Lentz, USA Mr. Bayer, these are truly compelling models. Of your presentation, the most interesting for me is at 7:09 on your video, the reddish Mercedes Benz with the lustrously glossy vermilion plastic body that I agree with you, and I indeed aver, requires no painting. In fact, I would go so far as to say that no paint job could approach what you already have here! Would you perhaps know the year and the model of this car?
I had a red plastic Cord, Matthew Inman has it now. But! I have another, it will be black w/Tan interior and tannish top. On the docket within the year! Thanks for stopping by!!
Thanks! Checked out your channel, nice stuff! Do you build anymore? That flip nose 'Vette is a very trying kit, as you mentioned. I had 3 of those kits, had to try many combinations to get a nose that came close to lining up with the body? I use the chassis and parts from those other kits for better quality model kits out there!

Love the MB coupe! Color is gorgeous.

Those are beautiful models. I’ve never built one but I love the design of cars from that era. Think I’m going to look for those kits.

Does those builds still survive? I have all the kits but the Bugatti race car, they will be built and video'd here . Lets see what you built?
They are Great kits!!!! Thanks for sharing your Very Nice builds!!!!
These are great kits.agreed ! You are very welcome, stop back if you would like?
I made the Rolls, Cord and Red MB some fifty years ago! The kits bodies had a fantastic finish smooth and shiny straight from the box.
I built a lot of these kits when I was young, very impressed! As shone by the cabrolet, beautiful out of the box with no paint,

Awesome! If you get some time, give them a shot? You won't regret ?

Thank you sir ! I have all the kits except the Bugatti race car. I am not mortgaging my house for one! LOL! I hope you get that kit and enjoy it!

Thanks Gene ! Looks like your build is coming along nicely ! Can't wait to see it finished.
Nice looking builds. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome Michael!
👍My favorite was the Lincoln Continental
I'm building that kit for this GB. Beautiful cars.
The Lincoln is a BEAUTIFUL model kit! The later kits have some moderate mold lines that can be tricky to remove, but still so doable!!
@@JDsHouseofHobbies , Your build is coming along really nice! Can't wait to see it finished?
Beautiful kits Billy! I had the Cord as a kid. 😎👍
I built the Cord as a kid too! Murdered it though! Oh well!
Great video Billy. All nice builds but really love the Cord.
Thanks George ! I appreciate the kind words. Other than the hood, really easy build! Is your Cord kit on the docket someday soon? Thanks for watching!

Love the early era of cars where there were swooping lines and class design. Just the dashboards were a work of art!
Yes indeed ! Just amazing styling and workmanship put into these cars! My favorites.
That is some really nice cars there Billy.
Thanks Sam ! All fun builds!!
Beauties Billy.
Thanks Nicholas !

Awesome classic cars.
The Monogram, Johan classics and testors italari make the best classics!

@@mightyjjk1298 , pretty easy kits to make beautiful ! Have at it and show us how it comes out??

Thank you Sir! That is a1939 Mercedes Benz 540 K Cabrolet A .
Had that identical Cord model, but it was red. Also a 1930 Packard 740 Roadster, in orange and dark brown.
I had a red plastic Cord, Matthew Inman has it now. But! I have another, it will be black w/Tan interior and tannish top. On the docket within the year! Thanks for stopping by!!
@@williambayer1146 Extraordinary car the Cord 812 SC sportsman. After having assembled it as a child it has stuck with me until now that I'm over 50.
Looks great!
Thanks ! These are so much fun to build, try one, I bet you like it??
Great looking builds
Thanks Michael !
Classy, those are sharp builds.
These cars were the epitome of class !
Nice paint, and body work that's where some modelers fail.
Thanks Walter ! I was lucky my "experiment" worked ok? Paint is still 50/50 for me?
She's a Beauty Billy
Thanks Jeff ! These are great kits !
Very nice

I like to stay with the 60s and 70s era kits. I have built some 30s and 40s. I do like to build some military kits also
👍👍👍
Thanks!
