Cambodia 2024 Part 5 Angkor in 1 day, Siem Reap

My dream has come true - we finally got to the mystical and mysterious Angkor Wat!
We will meet the sunrise at Angkor Wat, walk around the temple grounds, and touch its history. And of course we’ll show you what it looks like now!
We will also visit Ta Prohm - with its giant “Walking Ficus” trees, which devour entire buildings with their roots!
And of course - Bayonne, with its legendary towers with faces that change their facial expressions depending on the time of day.
Well, the last temple is Baksey Tjamgkrong, or how a nephew took over the temple that had been built for 30 years for his uncle.
The son of Yashovarman I wanted to dedicate Baksei Chamkrong to his father, the founder of Angkor. But fate decreed otherwise. The capital was moved to Koh Ker, and only after its return, work was resumed by Yashovarman I’s nephew, King Rajendravarman II. Perhaps a series of palace coups somehow affected the name of the temple, which literally means “a bird sheltering under its wing.” Because there is an ancient legend according to which, during the siege of the city, a giant bird hid the king under its wing when he was trying to escape from Angkor.
When King Rajendravarman II completed the temple, he decided to immortalize himself in history, and not his uncle, by placing in the sanctuary letters about his origins from the solar (paternal) and lunar (maternal) dynasties.
And after a busy excursion, we went for a walk around Siem Reap at night.
In conclusion, I’ll say about the temples of Angkor - one day and 3-4 temples were enough for us. After Angkor Wat, the amount of information makes it difficult to perceive new information and all the temples become similar to one another. If you have extra time, you can take the excursion for more days.
