I will never forgive Marvel for dropping this Leitmotif after just one movie. It is beautiful and epic. Oh just think of all the different versions there would be now... damn you Marvel.

You can hear Mark Mothersbaugh's use of it here ua-cam.com/video/b5hRZRcgxZQ/v-deo.html From what I understand, when Perlmutter was involved in Marvel Studios he kept the purse strings really tight and didn't want to re-use scores because it involved paying the original composer which he didn't want to do. It's why phase 2 basically has no themes from phase 1 (for example Alan Silverstri's Avengers main theme isn't used in Age of Ultron). It also lead to pay disputes with the cast of Avengers and at one point there were rumours they were unhappy and would be walking away as soon as their contracts allowed it. Kevin Feige went to the head honchos at Disney to basically say Perlmutter was making everyone's lives at Marvel difficult and stifling the MCU's development by being so tight with spending, DIsney agreed and significantly cut his involvement in Marvel Studios, and they started using the original themes for characters again.
Easily one of the best scores, of not just the MCU, but in cinema, in my opinion. All these years later I still can't get enough of this suite - would love to see it live!
Maybe it's only me, but this score calmed me down so many times, so I'll leave this comment so maybe it can help others. I've got some mental health problems lately, especially anxiety attacks, where I start to cry and can't stop it. My mind is a whole mess then, a lot of thoughts and self-doubts are rushing through my head. I always knew that listening to music can help me, but particularly this score helps me through these attacks. I close my eyes, sit upright with my legs crossed and I listen to the whole 10 and a half minutes. And I start to breathe calmly. And when the music is over, so is my anxiety attack. I stopped crying and feel a lot more relaxed. I know that everyone needs to find his own way to deal with mental health problems, that there isn't that one solution that helps always. But this one here helps me, and I am so extremely thankful for this piece of music to exist. And maybe it also can help someone else to deal with his or her problems. It can't solve the problems. But it can help. ❤

This score especially the “forgive me” score helped me through the loss of my father. I was the last person he talked to before he laid down and passed in his sleep. To this day I think of him when I hear this, I see our times together when I was growing up. I miss you dad and I’m sorry I didn’t fulfill my promise, but I won’t let you down.

An outstanding arrangement, frankly, it made me cry. I particularly loved 'Forgive Me', 'Sons of Odin' and the now legendary ending into 'Thor Kills The Destroyer'. The whole score of Thor is, in my view, already legendary and I was baffled [and annoyed] when they did not return to these wonderful tracks in the second Thor. To me, this music [especially the tail of this arrangement] is as integral to the character now, as the Superman Theme is to Superman.

After the years go by, the larger mega marvel will been seen as bombast whatever their other virtues might be. Thor ironically is the most humane of the marvel films, smaller but touching the heart. Brannaugh’s direction and Doyle’s score elevate the entire movie.

In the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe I would say the only hero whose journey from his first movie till infinity war is full of struggle and sadness is Thor. He first lost his brother ×3(that's what everyone thought), his mother, father and his best friend. Everyone he loved died but still he has overcome his loss and fights Thanos like a real AVENGER is infinity war. HATS OFF THOR. Edit: I literally cried during listening to the chorus at 5:04

it's true though, most of MCU's scores are easily forgotten, thus described as no more than background music. Thor's and the Avengers' are the only two soundtracks truly set apart

I used to Play this Soundtrack a lot, this particular Suite by Patrick Doyle of Thor, which I found it as one of the best movie Soundtracks, once I saw the movie. The melody is so catchy, misterious... yet noble, at the same time. A beautiful masterpiece. I´m glad this Suite, received such a great rendition by these great musicians! Bravo Orchestra!!
