- In this video I give you an in depth look into my Jeep LJ. We talk about my favorite mods and show you all the nooks and crannies of what makes this the most versatile jeep ever made. This jeep LJ unlimited might look pretty stock but when you crawl underneath you'll see its an lj on 33's with tons of aftermarket goodies. These upgrades paired with the LJ Rubicon are a recipe for a fantastic daily driver and extremely capable wheeler.

I thought they were ugly when they first came out. Then I realized I can get a half hard top and make it look like a Scrambler. So I found a 2006 Sport and added a 3" Zone Offroad lift kit, some American Racing Baja II wheels and 33" General Grabber ATX tires. Then my diabetes flared up and damaged the retina in my good eye. So now I'm legally blind in both eyes and no longer drive. I never got to do the half hard top. Also have a Kenwood 2-DIN radio and bezel, and an Alpine powered subwoofer that never got installed. I still have the Jeep. I can't bring myself to sell it. It only has a little over 98,000 miles on it. But times are getting tough. Groceries cost more, mortgage rate went up, HOA fees were raised and my disability check barely covers the bills. So I may have to put it up for sale soon. I have a video of it before the lift kit went in. I've been too lazy to make the updated video.
Aw man, if you are interested in selling that please let me know, I have a good friend that just wrecked her lj. My email is geeks4x4@gmail.com
For some trips in Northern Canada you’ll happy to have that 31 gallon tank.
100% this genright tank makes it so much better for long trips!
Sweet rig! Look8ng at an 04 lj. Thanks for video and now i got some ideas
That’s great! Hopefully you join the LJ fam soon!
Use Motobilt rock sliders and bumpers. Quality products that bolt right up and perform well.
Motobilt makes some super nice products! Thanks for watching😎
These LJ's are amazing Jeeps and regarded as the best by many. I would definitely put them in my top 3. Very cool LJ!

That's a pretty good top 3! Thanks I am glad to own it and get to use it.
Just got an 05 LJ 3 days ago, didn't even realize what I had.
Ha, has to be a good feeling to know you got a pretty rare rig! Congrats on the purchase!
ITF it's kind of a unicorn at this point
Rubicon LJ unicorn 🦄
Love the LJ
If you replace the two rubber gaskets on top of the valve cover it will restore pressure (its a pressurized case) it will restore your rpm range and make it more responsive and reduce that Rev lag where the rpms dip ever so slightly thats it leaking before it builds up pressure. Check the lines connecting to it for any seep too. That seep means they are bad. Cheap and easy to do just be careful not to crumble the plastic hose they get real brittle and then you need the clean out your top end. I got mine off but holding onto the other one by the hose, it suddenly disintegrated right after I got it away from the opening on the valve cover. Had to pick up bits off of the injectors and manifold but I'll take that rather than having to pull the cover off ...
Great tip! These 4.0’s are great but they need some little things to be happy!
@@Geeks4x4 I like sharing any info and fixes I do even if it helps out one person. I've had ghosts in other cars that I chased for a year and searched forums for just as long. Nothing but a bunch of people with my same problem. Then boom one day it's in a comment and it's a stupidly simple fix so it could always be a small chance! I also run Marval Mystery Oil in my 4.0 I run about 1/2 a quart now each oil change and do mmo in the gas every 3rd or 4th fill up. About 4oz in a full tank will do if I remember correctly. Got rid of my lifter tick with some more mmo and a few oil changes at 100 miles and now run the 1/2 because it sounds like a new engine!
Me too! That’s why I started the channel, I figured there’s atleast one person out there that has the same issue, I run mmo when ever I hear the tick too!
Nice LJ, keep up the good work.
Thank you, sent a subscribe your way, great looking channel! your down in my old stomping grounds!
@@Geeks4x4 Thanks and back at ya, small world looks like your in Utah?👍
@@5150MotorSports used to be, I'm in central Washington now still do a lot of wheeling in Utah, worth the drive
How's the tummy tuck lasting? How much of a difference in angle do you get with it with the 1" lift?
The tummy tuck is imo one of the must do mods to an lj, gained about 4 inches of ground clearance under the jeep, angle isn’t really an issue, but rather it gives the t-case room to go up in the frame rails. I’m still running factory rubicon driveshafts.
Nice rig
Thank you!
Love LJs
Me too!!
Just picked up one super clean 05 Lj with 6 speed manual transmission today with hard top rust free for $5000 you think it’s worth it ?
depends on your location and mileage but you stole that thing! should bring 15K easy. Nice grab!!
I am in Seattle WA 117k Miles on it and super clean no rust or anything
@@russ8625 hey your right over the mountain from me. We have gotten a pretty big group of PNW LJ's together on facebook, love to have you join facebook.com/groups/890428095115956
Did you buy it?! That’s a deal!
I found a Tj manual with 78k miles 18k weren’t able to justify it so you got it parts price. lA area
is the part where you mounted your CB custom?
Nope that's a Rock Hard 4x4 bolt in cage. Although I think we may have added the sheet metal to it... had that part in 2 years over the last 20 years, cant quite remember.
06 stock auto. Super clean, 76k miles ad new tires… is 19.9k too much?
is it a rubi with a hard top? Either way I think your not to far off, nice low miles!
@@Geeks4x4 not a rubi, and has a soft top :(
@@cuh720 Ya those two things might be hurting you a little bit, but its still super low mile and if its a clean as the miles suggest your right in the ball park... for my area atleast.
How many miles is too many ?
For buying one? That all depends on your plans, these 4.0L have been known to go 250k pretty easily.
Is 17K too much for a stock LJ with a fresh paint job? The motor was rebuilt and I replaced the transmission.
There are a lot of factors there, location/rust/miles/top. But that seems pretty ball park to me on what I'm seeing most go for maybe a bit high.
@@Geeks4x4 it’s a hardtop with all the wipers and defroster working. No rust on the body and only light surface rust on the frame in one area which all shocking for being in Michigan it’s whole life. It has about 175K on the body.
@@tristan9680 sounds like your right in the ball park then, if it was a rubicon you'd be low.
LJs are good but will seem way over priced and won't be able to compete with Grenadieres
The price sure has gone up... Not sure about competing with soldiers tho!
