  • Here is a great video tutorial on how to clean and service your throttle body for a Toyota Prius 2004-2009. This is also where to start if your car is throwing the P1121 trouble code. Since this fix is nearly free it is the "go to" for a P1121 throttle pedal positioning sensor trouble code. Thank you so much for watching!

    Wire brush to clean the throttle body? Not me... I don't want to permanently mar the chamber with fine scratches as it could effect the close tolerances and thus the performance. Turn the spring and open the throttle plate and clean it with your chemical soaked rag and/or a non-scratch synthetic bristle brush that is chemical resistant.

    Thanks for the good instruction video. After 222198 km my Prius1 start for 20 seconds and than shut down. I cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body housing in it runs like a new one. Thanks a lot !

    I used this video to replace my throttle body with a referb. I'm relatively handy with a car (more so than the average person) but this was my first time. Couldn't find anything to clamp the right and left coolant hoses so I lost some. But I had a half container of coolant so I just refilled the reservoir after. Cleared the code on my OBD2. I'll be driving a lot tomorrow to make sure it doesn't come back. It shouldn't since I changed the part out but we'll see. Haha
    And it saved me a 2 hour, $270 labor quote. Lol confident now I can knock it out next time in under an hour once I get some proper hose clamp tools and am not fighting the mosquitoes.

    P1121 on a Prius has nothing to do with TB. Either low coolant or coolant control valve failure. TB cleaning is indicated by P3190 and/or P0A0F.

    • @xgcskiman
      @xgcskiman 2 роки тому

      A full scan tool will tell you that P1121 is: "Throttle/pedal position sensor/coolant flow control valve position sensor circuit stuck"
      Alldata and Mitchell both go with it being for the coolant control valve.

    @2carpros hello, today p1121 came out, I have erased it with the scanner since it has always given me that it is the coolant pump, however a few kilometers after walking it I have got the p0a08-264 and p3108-535 and I would like to to know if you have any idea if they are related to p1121, or if you know what might be happening with those other 2 codes and how to repair them. Thanks for the help

  • @studinets
    @studinets Рік тому +8

    The video title is misleading and will cause somebody to waste their time. P1121 has nothing to do with this video/procedure, it refers to the 3 way coolant control valve not the throttle body.

    Is there a reason why we can't attach the hoses that leak fluid first prior reattaching the throttle body housing?

    There's also a 10mm bolt holding the clamp on the short rubber hose under the airbox. The clamp needs to be loosened before airbox is removed.

    Thanks for the helpful video. I've read that tinkering with the throttle body can cause codes if you leave the 12V attached. Did you have any problems?
    Constructive feedback: in some parts of the video, less zoom would have been better.

    Quick question, is it mandatory to take the unit out to clean it? The area you cleaned was exposed and could be cleaned with out taking it off completely. Unless it’s a huge problem if cleaner drops down into the unit under it. Lmk thanks!

    My mechanic said I had to replace it because the engine light came up and that's what the code says. Just like it happened in the beginning of this video .my question is.. .he erased the engine light on the board but days later came up again. What the worse that can happen if I don't do nothing and keep driving for a month or so . ? I'm gonna talk to him to ask him to clean it just like you did instead. But what's the worst could happen if o don't change it .how long do I have to change it ? 2 months ?
