I tried it, and I'm not sure if my timing is off, but I'm doing everything right. I max out seventh gear, downshift to first but the speed drops immediately to the max speed of first gear before I can respawn back on the road.

So it doesn't work for my car because it isn't E60 M3 and it's also because the car doesn't actually downshift the way that your car does
