A Mid-Spring Overnight Backpacking Trip along the MST in NC

Hello everyone! In today's video we are going out on an overnight trip along the MST (Mountains to Sea Trail) in North Carolina. The MST runs from Clingmans dome in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park along the North Carolina/Tennessee boarder to Jockey's Ridge along the Outer Banks. The trail runs 1175 miles across the varying terrain of North Carolina from Rocky Mountains to damp swamps! Today's journey is taking us on a small portion of the mountains section of the trail. Just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway the section of the MST that we are on today is right before you enter Stone Mountain State Park, and you can't camp along the trail in the state park so I make camp at a spot where the MST intercepts the Sparta Trail. There is an established campsite with fire ring and everything right there! Break camp the next day and head out the way I came in. You will see that the parkway was under construction.
