Camilo almost took a set against Alcaraz in clay this year on Buenos Aires, and lost a very close match against Rublev in clay too. You are getting there! Keep going!
That dude is a baller on clay. Seems super fit. Great match by you too Karue. These higher rank players just force you to play at such a high level(like that second set) for the entire match. You're no doubt getting there.
Hi Karue, been watching you for a couple of years now. Your game has definitely changed and improved lots … but at this level, guess you need more varieties like drop shots, side spins, lobs etc to get these guys off guard. Your serve and volley is awesome. Take more advantage of it. After all, you are already 30, so to be completing at this level with younger guys is something you should be really proud of. Keep going despite no fun living off hotels and suitcases. Good job! DL From Singapore…
Honestly you're one of the cleanest and best ball strikers I've ever seen (and believe me, being alive probably more than most people watching here...I've seen many great hitters). Sucks to lose, but you did great regardless. This is called experience and learning. Cheers and thanks for sharing! M
I had the same thoughts. He (Karue) strikes the ball very well from both sides. Power, depth, location. Very solid all around, moves well too! Really just boils down to making a few errors here and there, going for it a bit too early in the rallies. His opponents know early on they are in for a battle.
@@traderduke2it’s not just making few errors. He needs to make his game more unpredictable with more drop shots and more net game. There were plenty of times in the first set where he had him on the run and he should’ve went to the net more. It was obviously working when he was serve and volleying in the first set. He forced Camilo into over hitting or under hitting when he did that. But he didn’t go to the net when he had him on the run or had him deep out of the court. He just stuck to his baseline shots, which used up more energy. He couldn’t shorten those points with a drop shot, especially on clay. It reminded me of Naomi Osaka’s game where she is too one dimensional and relies too much on her baseline game. Like Sell said, he lost the first set on his racket.
Karue, your backhand is like bread and butter! Super solid and I really admire the way you can manufacture pace at will on the backhand. If I put myself in the mind of your opponent I would feel like it will never break down. That alone would start getting in my head, ha ha.
I'm so jealous of how you move around the court. It looks so fun to be that light on your feet. Great video as always! You were playing some really great tennis and looked in control for most of this match tbh
One thing I noticed is you were hitting your spots with pace. Deep in the corners or great angles cross court in the service boxes. Nice work and thanks for another great video.
GAHH SO CLOSE! Love mixing it up with the serve and volley and nice touch on the drop shots. I think going for broke on some of those break points would have been the difference. Believe in you Karue!!
Karie, you need to feel great about that performance. You were on the offensive more than him, you pressed him well. Best chance to win was snagging the first set break opportunity. You had him n the ropes the entire first 2 sets! Fabulous play, and keep it up!
Well played! I think your commentary on balancing was spot on! That first set could have been yours! Played better more chances etc.. but at some shots you pulled the trigger a bit too early.. and thats such a fine line between playing offensive tennis, but still with patience and control... That second set once you got that break, that first point on 3-1 on your serve was so good! You stayed in the rally was patience, didn't go for too much, won the point and in my opinion send the clear message! Like i can go long points too.. can't break me down.. After that i could tell it affected him mentally and physically and you took that set comfortably, playing good solid tennis! Your up there man! Like you said tennis is like that sometimes, you tire a bit, miss some shots the other guy hangs tough and before you know it, its over.. Again very well played! You got the highlight reel on lockdown!
Karuesing up the rankings. Your analysis was spot on. SO many points where you had opportunities to take control and you did not go for an aggressive shot. Once he had an easier ball to hit, you ALMOST NEVER won those points, so you MUST maintain control with your movement and aggressiveness in these points to win against top 100 players. Since you lose nothing by going for a point-controlling shot- because against these top 100 players you aren't going to win these points with the passive shot anyway- you therefore are losing nothing by going for it. Of course, it is easy to say it, harder to "feel" it in the middle of a big point. I'm not just going to say that you had a real chance to win here, I'm going to say you SHOULD have won this match! No one knows the mental game as well as you. You knew he would play the final set wide open. After he lost the second set he had nothing to lose and he played like it, but you knew that was coming. Your skills are great for clay. On your best day you would have won this match, but as you said it's the end of the season and even in the shape you are in, you weren't totally 100%. You still played a quality match, but I want your focus on WE ARE WORKING ON THE NEXT LEVEL 100% OF THE TIME! Even in the middle of the match I want you thinking about every shot and ONLY that. There is no pressure because there is no score. Today's match results simply do not matter. EVERY point we are just out there working on those next-level shots, because ONLY those will take us to the top. We are simply NEVER content with our weapons. We are IMPROVING them. The way to win matches is to hit your best shot every time, and the ONLY way to do that is to TRULY not give a crap about today's results. That is the irony and the beauty of tennis. I can assure you that your game is closer to the top than you realize.
Karue, I am really thrilled at how well you are keeping up with these top players. The work you are doing is surely paying off! I am impressed with how well you are preparing for each stroke. I notice as I watch that you feel really comfortable throughout the point(s) against Ugo. So, continuing to do good practice to prepare for THE next shot will be a strength which will pay bigger and bigger dividends and at the same time, allow you to stay comfortable and confident during your shot-making. So glad you are sharing your journey with all of us!!! Thanks and best wishes for an Australian run.
Great, video. Love your mentally with a balance about being calm but aggressive. I struggle to maintain my calmness when things get too physical or Im being pushed around and adrenaline starts going. Thats definitely a part I could improve on
I've been watching you for quite a while now and I have been following your return to pro tennis, I've been loving it. Me and my wife like to watch tennis highlights and whatnot together and recently on the suggested videos one of your matches showed up! I was pretty excited to see that and I had to tell my wife "hey, I watch that guy's channel!" Haha, keep up the good work!
Great Match Man. Jogou demais e ja fez um grande segundo set agora ja esta pegando o ritmo. Vamos Karue!!!!!!!! Want to watch u in a grand slam man!!!!!!
That was a helluva match! Your game is so dynamic now, many weapons of choice 🚀 That first set, you had a bit of anxiety, two "easy" net pts that cost it. But damn, the second set was such a breeze, you set the pace and it was superb. Foi insano irmão, parabéns!
In the 1st set - the break at 3-4 , usually happens when you are playing against a higher ranked player and when a small doubt creeps in, the backhand you missed down the line(your favourite shot) usually you make it, and the easy serve and volley at 15-30. Then at 3-5 , you had 2 break points, at 15-40 he hot slices right in the middle of court, especially on the 1st slice I thought you will come in and volley and get the break, stayed back, was passive, had to take your chances. The guy doesn't like moving front and back, his side to side is damn good. And also he feels the pressure when you come into the net at the right time he randomly missed the shots into the net or got out whenever you came in. And he doesn't like receiving lots of slices. My analysis for 1st set.
Like you said he was tired too but those couple errors in the beginning pf the third set (where you clearly couldnt make the effort) made the difference. Brutal! 😅
Quel dommage Karue... la bonne nouvelle c'est que tu prends conscience petit à petit que tu es tout proche du top 100 mondial. Merci pour cette vidéo! Abraço
In Argentina players are so strong in clay. That's practically all we play. So it's tough when you come from USA's hard courts. The same can be said the other way around. We tend to suck at hard courts. Great match tho Karue! Carabelli is not too far from players like Navone, Diaz Acosta, Comesaña and such! Keep it up, your level is getting there.
Your forehand has gotten so much better I think your style is kind of like Agassi where you can win against most guys by just outrallying them, most guys cannot rally much because they train for power and it wears them down mentally I like how you change pace too, that really is an underused tool in tennis But I think your style would wear players down just by keeping the ball in play, and adding some change of pace is great within that Keep it up!
Vi a Camilo en la qualy del ATP Buenos 2023 y 2024, un jugador muy fuerte y físico, así que es increible el partido que jugaste. Could we see you soon in the qualy - or maybe main draw - at Buenos Aires? Lets gooo
Dude, great content & match, been fun following your journey! Been around all the way from 'driving servers crazy' - video, thought that 'this is a confident guy', didn't have any idea of your level of play :). Q On fitness: You seem to sometimes run out of steam in 3rd sets, are you fuelling enough for long matches? Following lot's of endurance stuff(ultras) and they all seem to be moving to high carb fuelling,.. (though probably you have this figured out). Good luck and looking fward seeing you against top 50 soon!

First of all congrats, you're getting there and had your chances. I know that from the outside everything seems so easy but have you thought about incorporating more drop shots in your game? If you review your match there are several moments wherr he was way behind the serve line and you had the opportunity to end the point easily with a drop. Think about it because there are situations where you dictate the point but end up losing it because either you force it or you try to add extra spin. Just an idea. Keep it up!
court was high bouncy, drop shots were very effective. If the risk reward isn’t there, drop shots won’t help. Might win a point here and there but one doesn’t win a match because of drop shots
You were playing better than Ugo in the first set. If you took the same approach as you did in the second for the first, I think you would've won to avoid the third set. Either way, doing 3-set matches will only make you stronger.
High quality match! Did the shadow/light on the court in the beginning of the match bother you? Does it affect your playstyle? Do you e.g. deliberately play less serve&volley with such conditions because it is hard to play a volley when the return comes from light into shadow and vice versa?
Hi Karue: you talked about fitness and you talked about match practise. But what do you think you need to develop in your mental game ? My take is: You are going into the match with the understanding that your opponent is ranked @107; you are aware that he has won a tournament the prior week ... what does that tell you. What do you say to yourself with that in reflection ? In my humble opinion you are telling yourself it is ok to lose against someone like him. question is really whether you are selling yourself short with that mindset. Dont get me wrong - it is absolutely human - we all tend to respect our opponents based on their record and standing etc. However - you have shown tht you can play at this level. Not only in this match in the 2nd set but also in prior matches. you have played well against players that are way higher than your ranking - be it practise matches or competition. My point is just to reflect on the mindset that you started the match with. Just the awareness how you went into this match. I feel that is important for any of us going into matches. What do we focus on ? what do we say to ourselves ? What does that do to our ability to play a good match. How does that affect us ?
1 set: why play serve and volley on such an important game like 4-3. Specially on clay. Risk to reward - not worth it. 2 set: amazing tennis. 3 set: seems like he started playing deeper balls with his heavy forehand. Obviously physical starts to diminish and becomes a mental game. Conclusion: unlucky defeat. I'd say you should have won in 2. You def have the level, your serve and return are so good and if you keep improving and becoming more consistent, top 100 will be you next season. That, plus learning how to go deep into matches - which comes with improving physical condition, mental strength and experience. So, best of luck champ
what a great game - you looked the better player for sure in first two... i am no expert and have learnt a lot from u but i dint see drop shots when you pushed him so much back on backhand side ...small observation 🙏🙏
Man not long ago you were just making tennis youtube video for recreational players and now your taking sets off top 100 players. I hope you can make it to a grand slam one day. It's the kind of story movies are made out of.
Skill wise you are there. I mean, only weakness I saw you had is perhaps energy and mental focus volatility. If you can keep the same mental focus you had in the second set, you would have won the match. Typically when players get ahead, they relax a bit, but at the same time the opponent is ampping up. The sea saw momentum shift. Good match. Work on the psychology!!!
13:26 I wouldn't call that forced. I'm around 5.0 and I would go for that shot every time. The problem is you weren't quite in position so you hit it slightly off balance and missed by a couple inches. I think it's a perfectly reasonable shot
Hey Karue, how are you able to get Nike Airzoom Vapor shoes still? Is it because you’re at the level where they send them to you? Or did you just buy a ton before they discontinued them?
Who's the most impressive 'young gun' you played? The Stanford kid (name escapes me, Indian kid from the midwest)? Is his serve big enough to make him a top 50 player? His return game looked ridiculous and he moved almost as well as you lol.
Nice tennis mate ! You have some basic ground stones to make it big,, Take it from someone who helped at lest 5 people to make it to the very best in the world in their particular sports..-))
Betterhelp does not pay therapists well. About 35-40 an hour. This leads therapists to feeling burnt out trying to make up for it with seeing more clients. Also lowers the quality of care unintentionally. They are also known for matching poorly for symptoms. I support him getting his bag and trying to make a living while going on pro.
Your consistency is your greatest weapon. It will surely enable you to beat some top 120 players in the future. I also really like your serve. It's so fluent. Reminds me of an old Australian top 10 player John Alexander. Very fluent.
This is my take, as well. And it goes along with Karue's commentary that he doesn't need to force the points. Consistency is such a nice arrow in the quiver. But K needs to remember that skill goes along with longer points and doing less, often.
Karue! I 100% support you bro especially in terms of sponsors. Get that bag 🙏. But Betterhelp is a pretty dogshit company. Like they really fucking suck in terms of hiring qualified therapists and compensating their therapists. Not a good company. Get that bag but I just wanted to let you know abt this.

for sure he varies tactics by all conditions: temp, humidity, new ball vs old, lighting, and most importantly opponent

You def have the level, your serve and return are so good and if you keep improving and becoming more consistent, top 100 will be you next season. That, plus learning how to go deep into matches - which comes with improving physical condition, mental strength and experience. So, best of luck champ
You should come to Lima Challenger too!
what a great game - you looked the better player for sure in first two... i am no expert and have learnt a lot from u but i dint see drop shots when you pushed him so much back on backhand side ...small observation 🙏🙏
Court and ball were very high bouncy, it wasn’t easy to be effective with drop shots
I hope to see you Qual for the Aus open
Man not long ago you were just making tennis youtube video for recreational players and now your taking sets off top 100 players. I hope you can make it to a grand slam one day. It's the kind of story movies are made out of.
hahaha yeah pretty crazy turnaround huh
respect!!!
Vamos, Karue!
Your home is here and higher. Lucid play and lucid analysis. Allez!
When the new ball change, why not change racket with a fresher strings. Did you change?
Uma sugestão meu querido. Colocar legenda em português. As geradas pelo UA-cam não estão funcionando. Parabéns pelo canal!
you should had won dude !!!! confia mais em seu potencial, mostrou nesse video que vc can be in the 150's easy. VAMOOOO :)
I had a bunch of them from the time I worked with Naomi. And clay shoes don’t really wear out
did you produced this video while you are still in Knoxville Challenger? quite productive.
hahah yeah! Gotta keep up on the road. Already working on another one
Yea bro amazing just keep building on that match , just improve more and more ur fitness and ur endurance and top 100 is calling u ,u're n far at all
The break between 2nd and 3rd sets was kinda unfortunate - momentum disrupter
It is crazy how it is mostly about mentality and calmness. One decision here, another there. A bit forced here, a bit too early there. Crazy.
it really is
Who's the most impressive 'young gun' you played? The Stanford kid (name escapes me, Indian kid from the midwest)? Is his serve big enough to make him a top 50 player? His return game looked ridiculous and he moved almost as well as you lol.
Basavareddy and Tien definitely
You played a great 2nd set but your last 2 games in the 1st set were a give away. You were the better player for most of it I’d say.
Nice tennis mate ! You have some basic ground stones to make it big,, Take it from someone who helped at lest 5 people to make it to the very best in the world in their particular sports..-))
Betterhelp is kinda sketch
Yeah I’ve heard its been a scam for years but if he’s allowed to share it then idk
It is but honestly, the man needs money. Pro tennis isn't cheap
Bro needs money to cover all his expenses. He is creating contents for free and needs sponsors.
@@studiocooking3583 I would say if he has other, lucrative enough options, he should stop taking money from Betterhelp.
great tennis
interesting. as soon as you stopped forcing, he started fishing trying to figure out how he was going to win points. that really threw him off.
ily
Karue will sell Djokovic from ATP Tour in just coming 2 years.
"Do I have a shot?". Without seeing the video: no, you'll lose
you are a fun person lol
For 104, he doesn't look that dangerous
Hey Karue, I’m interested in your online lessons. I emailed you but I haven't gotten a response yet?
hi. Haven’t been doing lessons recently. Perhaps this off season
i don’t think this guy is in another league or anything. You can beat him
Fabio FO-neenee=Fabio Fognini. 'G' is silent.
But K needs to remember that skill goes along with longer points and doing less, often.
karue top 200 soon
You definitely played better in the first two sets, you could have won the match.
Appreciate it. If that is the case I am sure eventually something will happen. A good product will keep people around
you took a set though
