We LOVE Apologia! We were so blessed to be introduced to them early on in our homeschool journey. We used all Apologia sciences for our older boys and next year will start again with our younger set. Totally agree the notebooking journal is a must! I did not know there were experiment kits to buy, thank you for mentioning that!
We’re going to the beach in Sep, so we will be doing Apologia Swimming Creatures next school year. I’m excited. We’ve used Apologia before and really like it.
We live close to the NC coast as well 🙂 I didn’t know there were umbrella schools in NC-I’d love to hear more about that. I’ve been interested in Apologia science for a while, and this video makes me want to try it out. TGTB science is what we are using right now, and it’s unit studies. I’m worried that we would get bored studying one subject for an entire year.
I have a coming 5 year old, 3 year old and 9 month old. When did everyone start their Apologia science? Is 5 too young? We probably wouldn’t do the journaling since my daughter doesn’t write full sentences yet
@ she's 11 and in 6th grade so we don't really have time to do them all. I was thinking I would let her pick one for the rest of this year. We are brand new to homeschooling. We just pulled her from public school a couple of weeks ago.
I think we are going to go for Apologia next year. We have been using The Good the Beautiful the last two years, and it is just not doing it for us. Do you have any thoughts comparing the two?
TGTB has unit studies for science that are usually around 4-8 weeks in length. This is much more involved and (in my opinion) better put together. You'll get a real textbook, with solid Biblical creation worldview, and a notebooking journal that is a LOT of fun for the kids. The experiments are well put together and thought out (I don't remember doing any experiments with TGTB) and I didn't need to do any other activities to make it more complete. If you're only wanting unit studies, TGTB might be your ticket, but we're definitely Apologia fans at my house 😂 I did TGTB unit studies a few years ago and quality-wise, Apologia is top notch and you're not spending much more (and you'll get an entire year's worth of material rather than just 1-2 months).
@@mandy-maltz I'm sold. TGTB science experiments are few and far between and usually don't work. 😅 I think Apologia for us on the next go around! Thank you for this video!

You are so welcome! They are really helpful for me and I had to spread the word! I'm getting our next kit this week for Land Animals.

Do you need to the zoology series in order or can I let my daughter choose which one she wants to do?
I think you can do them in any order, but we went in the order they suggest. Apologia will suggest going in order.

@@SummerMeyers absolutely! I’m so glad I could help!
Umbrella school? I’ve never heard the term. What is that?
