I am in first year of animation in my second semester, and I just wanted to say you are not alone in feeling so overwhelmed!! 😭 I haven’t touched 3D in my LIFE I am working on school stuff what feels like 24/7. 😭 we all out here drowning together!
(っ.❛ ᴗ ❛.)っ💖💖💖 it's great I'm not alone, in class, especially 3D classes my professor's words feel like learning a new language 😩😭😭 but we got this (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ just gotta power through somehow
I'm also in my second semester as an animation student and it's very overwhelming 😩 I have to keep watching animations to stay motivated
How did you even get into animation if you have no previous experience with it or anything related to it? Are expectations in american schools really that low? Wow, I'm envious. Where I live you have to already have basic skills in animation and drawing and 3D if you want to apply for animation school. You would never get accepted if you never had touched 3D in your life, lol. I work with Zbrush, Photoshop, Clip Studio, Blender etc in my free time, so I have the basic skills (maybe even more than just basic) and I didn't get accepted into animation school where I live. Really unfair. :/
Oh and one more thing 😅 when you get discouraged (because in animation your bound to get discouraged at some point) watch whatever show or movie that inspired you to be an animator. Try watching the behind the scenes to witness all the people involved in making it . It can be a good motivating factor when your frustrated over doing a project. The film that inspired me was Alladin and sometimes I’ll listen to the behind the scene of Alladin and helps😊😊 that’s all. Animation is not suppose to be easy from the start but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun.
Your art is improving so much every day!
(人*´∀`)。*゚+ thank you so much 💖💖 I've been practicing a lot in off time, school has really helped me keep on track, normally I'm to lazy to draw out of my comfort zone
When I got my degree in Game Art and Design, I had to learn the entire pipeline too. It's ok though because in the end you will be so much stronger and prepared. Knowing the job that comes before you and after will give you insights that make you more valuable. Also you just may find something in the pipeline that you truly love and are great at. Stick with it and never quit. You may even find you love 3d animation too. I have had several friends who switched to the 3d side after they where exposed to it and are working today. You must be willing to always try to improve and get better. Don't forget, your portfolio is king not your degree. When you graduate you need to be ready to take jobs away from you teachers as you are now their competition. This industry is hard due to the wealth of talent, do not let that distract you or discourage. Let it motivate you and push you past your comfort zones and learn to swim in that deep water. In the end you'll make it if you don't quit.
Feeling overwhelmed is def normal. I'm not in animation (more concept art and illustration), but just like you said, there's just so much to learn, and you need to be good at *all* of them.
You can do it! We're all in it together
Hang In there! I felt it when you said, “I don’t have as much time and adult bills” I am learning Toon Boom Harmony as well and its tough. The adobe series is brutal too, I am personally cheering you on. I am interested in the way you take notes! I was thinking, “is she going to share that?! Dang, I need to do this too!”
I understand you! Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the studying process, especially in 3d. But it’s so much easier when you’re actually doing a project. I draw comics so I see why and where I need 3d backgrounds. Or I’m forcing myself to draw more complicated angles for my character. You’re doing great! Just don’t overwork yourself
I found it very motivating seeing another animation student and seeing how their workflow is. Been studying 3d game animation for 8 months now and Im enjoying it a lot, although it can be very stresful sometimes. Good luck on your animation journey and you got yourself a new subscriber :)
This is overwhelming nice to see that I am not alone in the animation student struggle. Thank you so much for sharing your vlog. This is really eye opening for me! Many wishes for your life and I hope you take care well! 💕💕💕
(人 •͈ᴗ•͈)💕💕 thanks a bunches, best of luck to you 🙌🏾💓💓 animation is a lot of work but I think because of that it feels so rewarding in the end to make the smallest things move, let's keep pushing forward 🥰
I remember watching your videos a few years ago and I'm so glad to have found your channel again, I instantly subscribed! you're so hardworking and I love the vibe of your vlogs. keep it up!
when you're away from your desk and not drawing, develop a habit of observing and remembering things you see that are interesting, EG someone standing with their weight on one leg, a dog distorts itself to scratch behind its ear etc. Without needing to draw, break down what you see into essential lines and curves that make it interesting. You'll find when you get to drawing it from memory, you'll get better at capturing what made it convincing. Half of learning to draw as many things as possible happens when you're AWAY from your desk.
I have the same exact thought and feelings as you and I thought I was alone! I just graduated from art school and now i'm a 3D Modeler and Character Artist. Same as you we had to learn a little bit of everything under the sun and animation being one of them. I have a little background in animation but doing it at the college level was INSANE! And painful! (rip my wrist) I have such a huge respect for animators and the amount of hours and care they put into their craft to create one of the most beautiful forms of art. Keep at it and maybe we'll run into each other in the industry! Always remember how far you've come and you'll only keep moving forward to be the best you can be!
your room is so cool! it must be really hard being an animation student like that kind of art is really difficult to achieve but its fun!
Heyy! Found your channel while I was doing my homework for my visual arts class. It’s great to know that someone else gets stressed about things like that! You are very calming, and can get through whatever you have next. Keep up the good work!
I'm so grateful to have stubbled on your video I'm currently in the depths of first year trying to lern everything from ps to ae to toon boom whilst also working on my artistic skills - anatomy colour theory and everything which comes with that and its wonderful to see im not alone in my struggles as an artist it can all feel so overwhelming, thank you xx
You are not alone, love. I am a graphic designer and trust me, I understand the feeling of having to learn so much outside of what you thought you already knew. You're doing good by seeing a therapist to help you with your anxiety and you're in school so keep learning and keep growing! You're doing great!!
I just finished Animation School in June and omg yes I felt this way for 3 years and it was terrible, but worth it
Yep am a first year animation student. I know how u feel.
But..
Enjoy what you do.because it never last forever
And talk to your friends who you trust, talk to them how you feel and what happened to you
Hopes this helps!❤💖❤❤❤
Hey Carri great vid as always!💖 Have you ever thought about attending an atelier art school or just drawing classes. Maybe revisiting the basic could help with performance anxiety 🤔
I haven't been able to find any atelier classes near me, I'm thinking about taking some classes on skillshare to brush on some of the fundamentals, I don't have the extra free time to take some in person right now, I really appreciate the feedback though 😭🙌🏾🙌🏾💕 thanks a lot sis
I get what you mean, I’m in a computer animation and graduating this October. I’m learning what is what happens in the pipeline of animation. I like the make characters move, I don’t like to make 3D models. So I get you in that. I’m in school that’s a two year degree. Gonna take a 6 month break before working after I graduate from school. Don’t give up, and keep learning. Even after finishing school, keep learning new techniques in animation. Good luck on your journey 🙂
Man same here, I like the 2D character rigging process, 3D was not at all what I was expecting, it feels like the technical side of animation with so many complicated moving parts, how is it like working in a pipeline? I start this fall if I can past these 2 classes plus my summer classes, taking a break after school is a great idea, the best thing about animation is that you can specialize in your favorite part of the pipeline , that's the main thing keeping me going
Yea I agree about specialising in a spot in the pipeline. I be soon focusing on animating the characters, basically breaking rigs that I get from riggers, lol. I just passed Technical Character Animation which is learning how to use a certain animation and bind it to a character then smooth them out so it doesn't look like its really fake. On spring break now but next week I being learning more on compositing animations into Live Actions =) (this is my other account btw)
I really enjoy watching your art school/animation vlogs! Keep up the good work!!
it's just magical to find so many characters in just one video
This is my first time seeing this channel and I kid u not I screamed OMGGG SHE’S BLACK!! I love to see this representation this makes me feel less alone being a black artist on UA-cam 😭 great job 💕💕
ayyy lit , thanks so much, been on this grind for years lol, its a lot of work but powering through thanks to encouraging words from people like you
me learning animation without animation school nor be able to afford the best courses when started drawing and art just a year ago, overwhelmed became my middle name lol
this helps a lot, am actually hoping to start 3d animation collage this fall, So excited but also terrified lmao, but am so looking forward to it at the same time,
Your vids are amazing. I just got an animation tablet and I've been watching your vids while practicing. 😊
Your workspace is actually really cool

I love how much your channel and editing skills grew
equipment is too cool and geography is destiny
Thank you SO much for this video. It helps a lot to clarify my mind about sutdying art. Good work!
Clicked on the video because I have never seen a more ACCURATE representation of the kind of work Animation majors go through... I just graduated too
I wanna do animation school but it’s just been hard finding the right school , so I’m thinking of being self taught and paying for courses online with very very good reviews
Keep practice and you can do it
It hurt to animate at first but keep try it slow then you can do it😊
Tysm ٩̋(ˊ•͈ ꇴ •͈ˋ)و 💕💕 I really appreciate it, going to keep at it, hopefully by this time next year I understand a bit more instead of feeling stuck
Just found your channel now and I'm glad I did! Your art style is really amazing!

I loved the video! May I know what monitor you are using? your setup looks very nice

Hi I just found your channel and oh boy I love your videos :D it's inspiring me to start drawing more :)
Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video on how you became an animation student. Like what kind of portfolio did you need to show and how good does someone need to be to be accepted?
I'm more happy too, there was no portfolio required, it just first come first served, I'll make a general video on the college and how to apply, let me know if you have any more questions
You know when I was a kid, I used to think that everything in anime is filmed like a movie and they just put on an "anime filter" to make it look like cartoon... 💀💀
Thank you for these videos, I’m about to start my animation course and I’m really excited, any tips?
i'd love to study animation formally, but sadly in my country that's not possible, so i had to select a career that could give me some knowledge that could compliment with animation, and the rest is online courses, books, and youtube videos.
Looooove your vlogs, Carri!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
REALLY LOVE YOUR SETUP I LOVE IT, WOULD LIKE TO BECOME SO PRO LIKE YOURSELF! OMG 😍😍😍
Keep going, you are doing great!💗💖💕
amazing daily activity
I love your setup! I used to be an animation major but I ended up dropping out because there was a lawsuit going on.
Your drawing is very cool.👍👍
Well I mean as much as you are stuck in problems it's still better than not doing anything right? I started my animation course in 2021 by the end of the year and I had to leave after just two semesters because of money issues and now I am down and depressed 😔 so yeah it's better to think yourself as someone who is fortunate 😅
off topic but your setup looks amazing
Don't forget to take care of yourself, take care of your health sis🥺❤️
It would be a big help, thanks!
Did you you ever look for a HP Arm for your drawing Monitor display... So you can have all sorts of angles to draw...
Wow you have everything i dream one day im gonna have im seeing you enjoing making you art is so ispirational for me so nice
jesus christ thatz one cool work bench.
wow loves your stand for the tablet! Amazon?
Yes it is, Full list of everything in my setup since I can't link everything in the description - kit.co/Carritube/2021-dream-desk-setup-creative-home-office
Your drawing is beautiful! I wonder what book is on your screen?
Amazing! super awesome!!
aaa yo también estudio animación, y encontrarme este video me dio mucho sentimiento
My advice to you, never do animation or art as a full-time job expecting it to have a bright career path, I have a bachelor's degree in Animation & Visual Effects and the last thing you want this to do with your life is let it be a job, the industry is hell and 90% of my colleagues don't enjoy what they're doing. I still can't believe I spent 4 years studying this just to make it my hobby at the end of the day.
I am learning by myself, I can relate its very frustarating xD
I'm looking for courses in TAFE and I'm scared to start because I'm having the same problem. I am not as talented as everyone else, can't draw characters with the right proportion on different angles and I also have to deal with anxiety. I sometimes question my future because I lack the motivation to keep going
Learning Art is just like learning how to be a God. We must know everything to create something from our inner world.
I really⁴ envy those students like you who attend at art school 😟
Hiiii I'm new here to your channel and wowowowow Soo cool you def are awesome.... Can I count on ya to PERSONALLY gimmie pointers for when I start digital and animating
Hello! What is that super cool devide you have in your left hand??
whats the name of the controller looking device you use to zoom in and stuff?
Hi I wanted to ask you what is the name of the screen that is closer to the corner of your desk I been looking for that kind of set up it goes long downwards and does it work with iPad
Students carrer for animations
Listen if you're having a struggles by drawing a human face you got to use Loomis method you got to research into the tutorials so you might know more about it and another advice I would give you it's that well you need to also apply that method but then you got to be more into looking a proportions
So cool
Hello! I don't know if you'll ever see this comment but I'll be attending my first year of animation college this September but since I barely know anything about animation, I don't know what equipment I need to get started so if possible I'd love to hear some advice on what to buy like what sort of stuff I need like PC or tablet.
May I know what is the use of the vertical screen next to your pc monitor ? Thank you
@6:33 what device are you drawing on
What Course did you get Sis? :3
I really like it 🥺 God loves you Sis
God will help you ♡
I love your videos their like crack to me a high schooler waiting to finally to to college for art, i know you mentioned that you are in community college so that might influence, the question I'll ask, but when watching a bunch of art school videos im always told never to draw anime and such like that but you do for your class work so is it your school, professor bc i would really like to know since im kinda conflicted
You living my dream
what carreer do you study? animation?
What's the stand you use for. your tablet. And would you be so kind to share your notes with me I'm also an animation student.
Here’s a tip, when you are having trouble drawing your character in different angles then find landmarks on your character that can act as a guide. You could draw from the inside out . For example start with the glasses and work your way around everything else. Also you need to spend a good week with aggressive practicing. I recommend studying the head neck on prokos anatomy course online. The loomis method would really benefit you. Practice by drawing the heads in different angles and that should help in understanding the structure of your character. College is only 35% of the work the rest is up to you and having self motivation and self practice. I’m a self-learning animator myself and I have the same problems I’m still trying to understand how to maintain consistent volume with my characters so don’t give up, keep that optimistic spirit, and practice the loomis method!😊😊👍👍
oh thats some super helpful advice, I'll look into it when i have some down time, I'm still behind with so many assignments that its a bit difficult to find extra time for some deep learning, going to pin this in case it may be useful to any other students watching. Thanks so much and good luck to you as well, its hard for me to have the self discipline with school structure learning i imagine self learning to be much harder, many kudos to you
I’m writing these tips down also. Thank you! ☺️
What's a Loomis method?
Listen I'm going to give you advice if you are you going to draw a human face I need to explain you that you need to look into a tutorial about Loomis method this method might help you to draw the proportions of the face in the right track and also you need to do landmarks just to guide yourself the proportions in the height of your character
