  • The Tragically Hip's Rob Baker and Gord Sinclair call in to talk to iHeartRadio's Jesse and JD about the bands new record 'Saskadelphia' out now!
Rob and Gord reminisce on the early days of The Tragically Hip.
They explain the meaning behind the album title, 'Saskadelphia'
Rob and Gord explain the decision to release these songs, and go through the vaults.
They discuss how tough it has been since the death of Gord Downie, to go through old music and put this album together.
They talk about how it has actually been 30 years since listening to the songs on the album 'Saskadelphia'.
Gord talks about how any die hard Tragically Hip fans will know some of the songs off the album, as they road-tested some of the songs when they first wrote them.
Rob talks about how fond his memories are of the time the band opened for Rush.
They talk about the decision to have Feist perform with them at the 50th JUNO awards, and the decision to play shows without Gord.
Finally, they talk about if there will be more releases of unreleased songs!
Listen to songs off The Tragically Hip's new album 'Saskadelphia' on iHeart New Music: www.iheart.com/live/iheart-ne...

Love these guys so much . We all know Gord is not replaceable. There will no longer be a “tragically hip” without Gord .. but I wish the 4 of them could make music again together somehow . Call it something else .. maybe Gord Sinclair and Paul could share vocals . Both are decent on vocals . They can’t just stop making music together.. the chemistry is just too good to let fade away .

BACK IN 1996 WE DROVE FROM BRAMPTON ONTARIO ALL THE WAY TO CINCINATTI OHIO TO SEE THE HIP ON THE DAY FOR NIGHT TOUR ( I THINK ) AND SAW THEM IN A TINY LITTLE DINGY BAR CALLED " BOGARTS " IT WAS AWESOME, THERE HAD TO BE ONLY LIKE 10 PEOPLE INTHERE AND GORDIE AND THE BOYS PLAYED EVERY SONG WE REQUESTED, I HAD A 50 MISSION-CAP LEAFS JERSEY ON AND I KEPT YELLING PLAY THE LEAFS SONG, AND GORD DOWNIE LOOKED DOWN AT ME AND SAID " ITS COMING ITS COMING " AND THEY ALL STAYED OUT BACK WITH US FOR OVER AN HOUR WITH THEIR OPENING BAND " CLARISSA " AND TALKED TO THE 3 CAR LOADS THAT MADE OUR WAY FROM CANADA... JOHNNY FAY THANKS FOR THE SNARE DRUM, AND ROBBIE THANKS FOR THE PICS.... YOU ARE THE SOUNDTRACK TO MANY OF OUR LIVES...
    THANK YOU
    SLUSH

Neat story, it’s amazing TTH had solid homeland success at that point but maybe way less recognition in Cincinnati Ohio..

I was one of the lucky people who got to see the boys play at Kingston Pen with a great line up of Canadian bands. Still have my tin cup.

I saw them at the Commodore in Vancouver - best concert I've ever experienced. I also went on to see them at many other venues but that night was magical.

So glad i found this!! Thank you 😀
Rob Baker is one of the biggest influences on my guitar playing. Learned Hip songs rewinding cassettes over and over..with my high school band!! And Gord is such a great versatile bassist man!! Must be so weird to get time travelled back to those days!! Great Interview!

same for me...I'm still playing Hip songs...a while back Rick Beato did a top 20 great two guitar bands...I love Rick, but I spared him no ire in leaving out The Hip...I wonder if he even knows who they are.

These guys have been the soundtrack to my life. I still cry over losing Gordon more than I probably should. Thankful for the dozens of shows I was fortunate to see from Boston to Los Angeles, Montreal to DC. I love you guys

Now release "Get Back Again". I know it exists. I have a copy of it. Full band version, studio quality. It is as well produced as anything on Saskadelphia.
