I looked up a product called Xylitol, make sure when you buy any product to feed animals that it is not part of the ingredients. It is even bad for birds, and since the dollar store does not carry regular brands, it is good to take a look before you buy it.
Xylitol is an artificial sweetener. What other things that wouldn't be in peanut butter would you like people to check for? How about carpet tacks? Or maybe razor blades? Cyanide?

And those brands could show up at a dollar store for the uninformed consumer The only positive Xyltitol has over sugar is that it has fewer calories like that old brand "Sweet & Low",but is bad if consumed by animals like dogs & birds.

@@garyjordan2019 I was thinking that brand might have bad ungredients. Often with less expensive peanut butter, the peanut oil is extracted to bottle & sell for cooking, then they replace it with inferior oils added to tbe peanut butter.

@@LSatch british columbia, canada. I've got around 15 or more cams. You can't go wrong with a browning recon-force, but, the chinese brands have gotten sooo good, and are much cheaper. Campark and Gardepro cams are probably some of the best out there.
this is neat! we drill the lid to a tree or post and cut the bottom from the jar and just screw it back to the lid. then next time all you have to do is cut the bottom off the next jar and re use the lid. a little messy but works. also makes a good deer lick if you put it close enough to the ground

That's cool! Do you ever see the birds stuck licking the roof of their beaks? lol I get peanut suet from tractor supply for .97 cents. Kinda like extra chunky peanut butter. Everything loves the stuff. Even the blue birds get in on the party.

@@LSatch I don't know about all that? I have several feeders and try to accommodate all the travelers that pass by on migrations. Some nest boxes for the locals. Blue Bird boxes brought lots of babies and many of them stick around at least for a while. Just this year they took an interest in the feeders. I was surprised myself since they are all about the bugs but they seem to have taken a shine to the peanut suet and one feeder that has a nut mix in it. Love the birds. Def one of Gods gifts to the world.

They have no problem getting every last drop. We don’t replace the jar any longer. We bought the largest jar of Kroger brand chunky peanut butter and just refill the jar......often. Well, I just replaced the jar because it was filthy. Video to follow soon.

I was wondering. If you took the peanut butter out of the jar and stirred birdseed into it, then you would have twice as much food and backup for when the first batch was eaten. Then fill the empty jar with the second batch and wha-la. The birds would love you even more.

@@paularthur6456 I guess I’m lucky or maybe just unaware, but I’ve not seen rats at our bird feeders. I have a trail camera on them 24/7. They are busy at night. Last night an opossum, and two raccoons, came and went several times. But no rats.
How much will actually be eaten before the birds can no longer reach it safely? If they have to reach too far inside the jar, chances are that the butter will smear their feathers, which will not do them any good.
They have no trouble getting to the back of the jar. I don’t have any video of that yet. Stand on the knot and eat the top first or they cling to the bottom of the jar and eat from there. I working on a follow up video that I think will help explain. Thanks for the feedback. Great question.

You need to put up a peanut allergy sign, just in case any birds are allergic 😂😩
Xylitol is one ingredient to avoid for dogs, BIRDS and other animals. Pay a little more to avoid it.

also for a perch just poke a stick into the bottom of the peanut butter. it will due until they eat enough of it and then stand on the lip of the jar.

just a thought....make the hole larger to fit lid...hot glue lid in board....remove part of the flat surface on lid...and screw jar into lid..

A little wire perch under the peanut butter might help them reach it better. Maybe using a piece of a wire hanger
Believe me, they have no trouble clinging on. I think a perch would only help the squirrels.
