Drac's reviews have never steered me wrong, based on this and the fact I nerf with my small children, MK2 is my preference. Scamp later on down the line as we all get older. Cheers Drac!
Same, I nerf with 9-10 year olds (Community Wars) I’m using a Spamf and a K26 Kronos as my primaries I like pistols and use them as my primary in most battles where I’m battling smaller kids. Waiting for them to hit 12 to use my SBL and Shellington Levergun
I would prefer to use the zinc, but as for just fun to build, I’d defiantly pick up a Venturi. I saw someone powder coat the side panels so it’s now on my “things to coat” list.
Hey Drac, just wanted to say I’ve been watching your vids since “key ring mods were really popular”, but went to college myself a few years ago and unfortunately lost track of time. I’ve been going back and catching up on every one of your vids for roughly the past five years. I remember Rival as a concept was JUST being introduced when I took a break from watching. After doing some research and wanting to have fun on a budget with my girlfriend, I recently purchased the Rival Takedown and Rival Knockout blasters. Thank you for all of the time and effort you have spent over the years and your dedication to the community. It’s always made a big impact.
Maybe these aren't the best choice for dual wielding, since they're manual prime. A flywheeler of some kind feels like a better idea if you want one in each hand.
I really like these longer (for lack of a better word) qvc style videos where he goes in depth so you know what you’re buying and what’s suited for you
Second.....I’ve been waiting for this video. I’ve had my mkll since February and I love it! It’s deadly accurate. I love “Foam Flinging” but I’m not really a modded so the durability and trustworthyness of the MKll is superb for me. I’m very much looking forward for seeing more for the Dart Zone Pro line.
Honestly, I’m partial to a fly wheeler as a sidearm. If I’m pulling a sidearm, it means I need to quickly get out of a close range situation. This means high ROF is a priority over range, accuracy, or power.
Well, this made me decide to buy a DZP MKII from a site that sells them in Europe! Was on the edge about it for some time but after seeing all good reviews and this video made me take the leap! Gotta say, I love these kinds of videos! Not only is it informative but also shows how deep this hobby goes, if one only looks hard enough!
I'm so glad an amazed by my #12 Scamp handcanon, so satisfying to shoot stuff with it, not enough barell lenght to snipe like a caliburn but close to it. Good pistol review Drac !
All the blasters have pros and cons but I would go with the dzp mk 2. You get everything you need and 80 is alot cheaper and more affordable. Rather spend 80 then 200 + especially if you don't like the blaster after purchase.
I just got my Scamp, I ordered it after learning about it on your review. It’s my first blaster in that FPS range, and I agree it’s great for a beginner- also that you need big hands to run it, I’m 5’10” and it’s a stretch 😂 but it’s fun to use, and hits like a truck. The Venturi is just beautiful, I love pistol blasters so that one is going to be next on my list. Thanks for the great comparison!
Great video. I’m not that big of a pistol guy especially if you need two hands to shoot it but for me it would be the DZP MK 2. Keep up the great work.
I have the DartZone MK2 and the Northeast Designs Venturi MK8. Got the Venturi b/c I wanted over 200 FPS and a higher capacity (running 21 round extended Talon mags). I like the MK2 for what you mentioned, the compact size, maneuverability, and secondary load out setup.
Personally, if I were to choose one of these blasters and I'd have to pay for it, it'd get the DZP MK 2, because I don't need to print anything (I don't have a printer), there's very minimal tweaking required to get it up to snuff (I haven't tweaked blasters before like that, and I'm a little intimidated by tasks like tweaking and tuning a Zinc). It's also very stealthy and small, which I like, plus it come with a holster, 2 speed loaders, and a speed loader holster. I think that's alot of bang for your buck, plus I should be able to wield the MK 2 with my small hands easily, whereas the Scamp and Venturion sound like they'd be a handful..
Drac might I add that another amazing feature of the DZP MK2 is that you can scavenge and feed singe rounds in from the top. In my eyes this is so dope.
I love what NED did with the Venturi, but it's humongous to a degree that I couldn't run with it strapped to my leg. Now with a small pumpgrip I'd definitely run it as a primary.
One seller is selling the DZP for SGD119.90 in Singapore. If there is no COVID and I still hold my old job and not wanna go back freelancing, I will definitely get a DZP for foam flinging. With the new lockdown, my personal project is to get those current stock pistols I have to super stock performance for any games after lock down
Been looking forward to this one, thanks! When budget allows dzp will probably be my pick up as a person so new to the hobby I've yet to find a group, but if I eventually take up 3d printing the zinc would be a good goal project to work up to.
Great video, for my style of play it's DZP MK 2 all the way, however I know people with some of the others on the list and can't wait to try them, all of them are very cool and I love to see what people come up with
Honestly, the Dart Zone Deuce and Fire Rat would really mix up this list. I'd like to see an updated version just because of the injection molded stuff we're seeing as of late.
Definitely a helpful video for the rest of us who haven’t gotten our hands on all of these different pistols. Just ordered a Venturi hardware kit and being 5’10” we’ll see how I like the grip, but I can’t imagine it’s much worse than the fly point pistol.
I'm 5'11" and the Scamp is definitely a large lad. I've ordered a Venturi Carbine (angled grip because the Scamp has gotten me more invested in slanted talons than straight) though, so we'll see how that grip agrees with me.
@@skye1491 Oh I have the Scamp and adore it. Just an absolute powerhouse. I ordered the Venturi as a carbine precisely because I can't really justify another primary pistol to myself, but one that can be a carbine helps in the old self-justification. I'd probably run 18 dart mags in the Venturi and 10s in the Scamp. BTW, have you noticed that the Scamp does slam-fire?
@@Balmung60 that's absolutely awesome! And yes Jordan made sure the scamp could slame fire, in testing he even did a TON of dry fire, slam firing XD he posted it all to his UA-cam manzendesigns
So I have the DZP Mk 2, Gecko, and the Scamp. I'm amazed at the quality of the Scamp for the price. It's rock solid, delivers the hits, and has high production quality. For me, I plan to use the Gecko as typical secondary. I like the higher capacity over the DZP Mk 2, also despite the lower fps I'm okay with it for a dedicated secondary...generally it will come out at shorter ranges anyway. If I was competing in a more serious event, I'd probably pull out the DZP Mk 2. So psuedo primary = Scamp, general wars = Gecko, Competitive secondary = Mk2
I own a DZP mk. II, and tried a Gecko yesterday. I would say out of the 2 I prefer the Gecko, both for grip and look. But then again I do like the Cyberpunk look.
Thanks for the overview, Drac! If I was in the market for one of those sidearms, I'd be boring and go for the DZP2 - as you suggested, stronk and not too chonk.
I really love my Mk2, and for a secondary role I think its perfect. In my opinion all of the other blasters minus the zinc are not suited to be secondaries. They're much too large for how I'd want to play. The Gecko, Scamp, and Venturi are all primary's in my opinion, which is fine. Gecko has my vote for ascetics, sci fi/futuristic is my jam. That all said this was a great review! Nice work Drac
Nice video Drac, very fair. Me I want durable and more time shooting than tweaking, so mk2 for me. With that said the 3d printed guns are bringing so much new goodness to the hobby that we would otherwise never see if we had to rely on the corp co.'s so there is much to love there.
Love them all. I own the scamp and dzpm2. I want a zinc but i dont have a 3d printer and no one sells them completed. For the Venturi i will get one when i have the money. I want a gecko but like you said its really expensive for what you get. To me it needs to be 150fps minimum. If your not hitting at least 150fps theres something wrong with your gun.
Nice comparison video Drac. Really cool to see all of these together. I personally only have working Geckos at the moment (waiting on my Venturi kit to get here ;)) so I might be a bit biased in answering your question at the end. However I do really like the Gecko. And yes, it takes some fiddling to get right, but with the upgrade barrels I have it makes for a really reliable and accurate low-mid power pistol. I fully agree that the Gecko is not one for high power, which is why I can't wait to get a Venturi up and running. However in the low or mid power section I think its really nice, once tuned in. Kinda the same like your ZINC. Oh and another note, with my spring swap upgrade to the catch housing you can swap the Gecko spring by just removing for screws in the front which makes it even more versatile. I kinda like that :) Most of the other ones are sadly not available over here so I can't speak for those.
I have the MKII and It's pretty much my go-to sidearm now. It obviously lacks the flexibility to double up as a primary, but I don't use it for that, so that's ok.
Okay Brother, I wanted to leave you a comment since y'all worked so hard this video. The community fans and followers appreciate the time and money that you invest to be able to bring us this info. I'm going to list my personal pick's in order. 1) The DZP MK2 for it's availability, and I can order 3 of them from Target right now if I want to. I feel sure someone's gonna figure out how to get it above 170fps pretty soon as well as extend the mag with a kit of some sort. 2) The Scamp. Fits me good, doesn't fail to deliver the hits. I verymuch like the lines, fits my Space-Cop and Bounty-Hunter characters. 3) The Verturi. Aesthetically my favorite overall, earns my #3 slot only because their so very special, I may never get my hands on one. I'd take a pair of these BadBoyz and be a Space-Cowboy/ Intergalactic Bounty-Hunter. 4). The Gecko. If it hit harder and was a bit more reliable, it could've placed higher on my list. Aesthetically it's my #2. I like CyberPunk, well the look anyways, I've never played the game. 5) The Zink. Mainly for the proprietary magazine, but also for it's real-steel-lines that absolutely require you to print it in a loud color to prevent it from being confused so easily for the real thing.(Drag, I love yours, it's prettiest one I've seen.!) MrScott54, BionicBlasters.😉😁🤓😇😃😎🤠
I have a Zinc and I really like it. I'm still working on tuning it (the trigger pull is too sticky for my liking right now), but so far it has been an amazing blaster and the perfect companion to my Nexus Pro.
A couple of those look good, but what I really want is a grip-fed pistol that uses #16 rubber bands in the mechanism and no plunger. A rubber band slingshot can easily reach 200 fps so I think 100 to 150 fps throwing foam is possible. It shouldn't need to be perfectly fitted to work because there wont be any gaskets. If this comment gets a lot of love I'll throw together a couple trigger/feeding mechanisms I have been thinking about and share the stl files for anyone that wants to help me make rubber band nerf a thing. It should be simpler, cheaper, fewer parts and lighter than a similar power spring/plunger gun.
If the DZP Mk2 is ever available in the UK, I would really like to get it. I also think the Zinc is really cool, and although I have the skills to do so, I don't know when I would have time to build one properly. Also, I don't like having so many types of magazines so I'm less likely to run the ones which use custom mags in a loadout. Thanks for the video Drac, you have been talking about it for a while and it's good to finally see it! 💙💜
I'm kinda in a weird situation due to our club rules. We allow small shields to be used with a pistol, but that pistol must have an internal mag or drum. The DZP MK2 and shield combo is my favorite thing to run right now, so that's the one I choose. Unfortunately none of the other pistols on this list could be run with shield per our rules.
I really want to have a pistol loadout so I've had my eyes on the Gekko for so long because of the design but the reliability seems lacking. The zinc and the MK 2 look really bare but the Scamp has impressed me the most with its sleek design and durability. Plus, it hits like a truck, lol.
The thing is, my nerf group isn't terribly large and most people operate on budgets so I'm most comfortable with what delivers the best price to performance ratio, so it would have to be the DZP MkII for me.
I’m most interested in the Zinc. Compact form factor(I’m 5’7”), I have my own 3D printer and I think it’s the best looking of the 5. I know, I know, looks aren’t everything, but I already have a Nexus Pro, an Aeon Pro, and several Rival blasters and a couple kitted Stryfes(amongst many other blasters) and I really want a nice small, compact sidearm.
I personally already have the dzp MK2. I really do like it however it's not my favorite out of all of these. I love it because of its performance and look it's just awesome. Not a huge fan of the speed reloaders cuz they never really work for me. Also the handle is extremely uncomfortable at times and has almost given me blisters. I really do like the gecko. I've wanted to get my hands on one for a while because I like the look and the traditional look of a pistol. So that's definitely one I'll be looking out for
Nice vid, first off like to say you and luke make imo the best watchable content. Stuff you guys make and talk about i can realy Learn from. Like to tinker on stuff and iam building rc cars from kits for over 20years now. And Just a few months ago finished my first tacticool stryfe (hk416 honeybadger style) 3d printed parts and locks removed. I dont own a 3dprinter yet haha and i live in europe ( the Nederlands) so i do think its gonna be a challange. But if i had a choice i would really like to build the zinc( love rails hope they design a version) mk2 if the would finally have a european importer. Gecko for the looks but first they need to get those bugs out. In short zinc, mk2, gecko. Keep on going drac
The MK2 is the only valid option for a magless pistol-only round in some of the Nerf wars I've been to. I wish there were more high-performance choices in this category. An Adventure Force Pro pistol would be an instant buy.
Playing in games that are almost all pistols (because of our specific game styles) I'm sad to see that our speed cap of 100fps would rule out every pistol here. Love the look of the zinc tho...
You may need to do an update to this video - 1yr later... I have an S200 Fire Rat on it's way to me now - and I feel like it would definitely make the list.
I'd consider myself a competitive nerfer and I bought a Gecko. I never use a sidearm in competitive settings and the biggest hole in my arsenal is low fps blasters. I wanted something fun to use at casual games since my FDL3 is my only blaster for the 100-130 fps range. I also own a DZP which I would use if I ever need a competitive sidearm and I want a Zinc but my printer can't print it. At 5'11" I'm slightly too short for the Venturi and Scamp anyway.
Regarding the Venturi and the Scamp, you could be short like Marty the Midget from Pirates of the Caribbean with his massive gun that sent him flying every time he shot it! lol
i use the mk2 because i like to run and gun so if i have a blaster jam i can use easily enough and with its lowprofine and in cluded accesories it fits on my sode well and doesnt interfere with the rest of my kit
i'm really hoping somebody comes out with a mag in grip, hammer primed sidearm someday soon, trying to design it myself, but it's a lot for a novice to come up with

Excellent info and presentation as always. Thanks for all your service to the space! I never miss a video.
Thanks for the tips, but I think I’ll stick with the Clampdown.
I already have a DZP Mk2 but kinda liking the look of the Gecko. But the Mk2 is a pretty nice ready to go from the box package.
That’s it. I’m downloading the zinc files and printing one. I want to get into designing as well. Could be my best option for my first foray.
I don't have a zinc and have the Venturi on the way and currently have the others already. All fun blasters.
Thanks for the review. I'm not really a pistol type person but this makes me want to reconsider
Still waiting on the lynx pistol, that will be my secondary once it's out I think
For me it's going to have to be the Scamp or the geko both have to be my favorite blasters off of this list.
I use my brass barreled blitzfire. Love that thing.
I just got the dzp2 and I love it
As I already have a DZP MK2, I'd look into getting a Gecko at some point.
MK2 for convenience, but Zinc looks so cool
That zinc 2.0 don’t play around can’t wait to get mine and make a review
The MK2 is the only valid option for a magless pistol-only round in some of the Nerf wars I've been to. I wish there were more high-performance choices in this category. An Adventure Force Pro pistol would be an instant buy.
Please do this video again but with flywheel options:)
I'm gonna be order the DZ MK2 in January to pair with my DZ mk4 or nexus pro as it'll pair with them for whatever FPS cap
Yes!!!! I’ve been waiting for this video!!!
Dart Zone Max Stryker Ultimate Dart Blaster.......... WOOOTTTT!!!!!!
I like the stock dart zone pro mk 2
My modding experience is pretty minimal, so I'd love to try tinkering with a Scamp. I'm 5'10" on a good day, so hopefully, I'm not pushing it!
Regarding the Venturi and the Scamp, you could be short like Marty the Midget from Pirates of the Caribbean with his massive gun that sent him flying every time he shot it! lol
Great video, love it! Is there going to be a video for other pistols, like revolver type or other, non-mag type?
i use the mk2 because i like to run and gun so if i have a blaster jam i can use easily enough and with its lowprofine and in cluded accesories it fits on my sode well and doesnt interfere with the rest of my kit
i'm really hoping somebody comes out with a mag in grip, hammer primed sidearm someday soon, trying to design it myself, but it's a lot for a novice to come up with
Valuable review! Would you review the Foam Knight XE?
The venturi is handsome af, I would go with that
Apparently foam knight is coming up with a hammer prime pistol, on their Instagram
Besides the pull, the Venturi reminds me of those handguns that fire 50 BMG lol
