If you look back even earlier in the series we get the parts where both Springsteen and Bruce were being cruel to Frederick and disowning him (not a crime but still pretty bad), and the time Carl locked Bruce in a closet. Then on the flip side you get Bruce and Springsteen's loyalty towards each other, Carl showing bits of vulnerability in a couple moments, Dad/Joe basically bargaining with death to save Springsteen, the times when either Frederick or Rocky was the most competent person in the room. That's what people mean when they say these characters are "complex". No one is a clear-cut good or bad person.
Every Character in the Series in a nutshell Wildflower: A once paranoid man unable to progress and compete finds new meaning and power in his life and is willing to do whatever it takes to win the crown. Gus: A once arrogant person now facing extreme difficulty has to cope with being terrible find a new purpose in life, to ruin Bruce who he finds responsible for his pain. Rocky: A very arrogant person who as recently come to his senses and is realizing the effects of his brash actions. Bruce: The leader of the NFC East who has done a lot to earn the title but is stricken with grief due to the loss of his father and the condition of his beloved brother Springsteen. Carl: A tough person who was used to the bounty of success faces loss for the first time in his life and copes with it through anger . Fredrick: A person who was shunned and bullied for a better part of his life but now has risen as a leader but is still inexperienced in the virtues of leadership. Springsteen: A person facing immense difficulty in life and is walking the tightrope between life and death. Joe: A deceased father who risked his life for the safety of Bruce and his sons. Although things have been rough with them he has loved his sons his entire life.

I've been wondering about Danny for three weeks now. Is he a team from a division that we haven't seen yet? Another Dolphins fan to be involved in the story now that Joe is gone? Literally just a guy? There's two different ways we'll find out. One is Carl trying to figure out who Danny is on his own. Another is Springsteen (eventually) waking up and relaying the "Call Da-" message. Either way, we do know that Danny is only a phone call away...

Yet another excellent development in this series, very enjoyable to watch all around. Only minor critique I'd have of the plot points in this show are the overwhelming number of antagonistic characters forming. If you think about it, up to this point the story has had its fluid characters develop in a streamlined manner, where they naturally and slowly shift in the same direction. Fredrick has slowly been coming to terms with his new power and mellowing out and Springsteen has been comatose since "the incident", Gus has been sinking into depression, Carl has come a long way from the one-sided bully he was before the divisions met and turned into more of an antihero who masks his inner feelings, and Wildflower has been Wildflower. The villain role had been shifting from Carl at the beginning to Rocky, and there's nothing to pick apart here, the story has been excellent thus far. I actually think that this episode's apparent twist where Carl has only been masquerading as an improved man, and is instead willing to revert back to his former ways is fantastic, and sets up a villain team-up that's perfectly fitting for the upcoming climax of this season. However, Gus's depression has seemed to morph into Schizophrenia here, a Gollum/Smeagol character bent on murdering an innocent man presumably to avenge Dak, and Wildflower has turned more sinister with his focus on winning the division overtaking his usual lackadaisical attitude. While Gus could make sense, Wildflower's character has shown hints of wanting the crown however I disagree with the direction that the executives are taking, trying to turn him into a villain as well. I don't know how to work around this, as the NFC East battle dictates that Bruce and Wildflower come into conflict, and yet the show will suffer if they continue at this rate. Having those two make a heel turn will jeapordize the usual protagonist/deuteragonist/antagonist balance as both Gus and Wildflower are changing from the second option to the third, leading to a seeming 1/1/4 split with all of the characters excluding Springsteen. I'd consider Bruce as the only protagonist here, while Fredrick has avoided being openly negative thus far while also not having too much of an impact on the plot arcs, and the other four all seem to have plans. This is especially problematic given that we are nearing the end of the season, with what looks like a large showdown of everyone vs Carl and Rocky brewing. There doesn't seem to be much of an opportunity for Wildflower or Gus to make much of an impact as villains at this rate. Overall this might have nitpicked and looked into things a bit much, as the show is still incredibly enjoyable. I still can't wait to see what lies ahead!
