More ideas on what each of the sections of the grid could be used for. Grid spacing is new to me and this is the 3rd video I saw today and it described it so good. Now I want to make a grid guide!!
Your production quality is top tier! I really enjoy your camera angles, the editing, your thought out script, your voiceover and the music. Keep up the good work, it is highly appreciated!
This is great. I finally added a grid spacing page to my BUJO and it's been such a game changer . Kept it simple and just included the # of boxes and whether there is a blank space in between. For example (40 vertical boxes in my BUJO): IV 10 II 10 II 10 II gives me room for 4 boxes as header and 3 sections for content (each 10 with 2 blanks left in between).
I love this video and concept because I lose count and forget the spaces and have to start again each time. I wound up utilizing a sheet of mylar paper for my weekly spreads. It's cut to size and use 2 colored sharpies to denote my most used spreads, and used a soldering iron to melt tiny holes with the colored sharpies dots as a "colored ring" to denote for what spread they belong. I lay the sheet over, use it as a marking stencil and makes my spreads super fast and quick
I’ve begun setting up my pages for March, but I’m going to add this page to the very front of my 2020 journal! This is fabulous, thank you! I am so tired of counting spaces constantly!
Hello Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time to prepare and post this very thorough explanation of grid spacing. I have tried repeatedly since I began journaling (Jan. 2021) and a variety of versions, but for some unexplained reason(s), i can't seem to wrap my head around the concept!... (btw, luv luv LUV your candle holder!). Thank you from a fellow Canuck (National Capital area).
Thank you, I got a new book for 2021, and was upset to find it wasn't A5 like the one I had last year. It's only 8x5. So I need to figure out how to do a monthly calendar page, and those little monthly things. Well it's dot grid on every page so I can make my own, last year was my first attempt and it was sort of set up partially. Some pages I didn't use at all, couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do with them. Other pages for art had the same thing every month, after 6 months of pre-printed setups, I started making my own and modifying them. And by October I realized I can put pumpkins in there instead of the same old ugly scraggly flowers they had. Was getting tired of coloring them each month
This makes me want to redo my grid spacing page because I thought I was doing it "right" (a way that I'd find useful for myself) and I was very wrong lol Thank you!
Kimperfect -The way I figure out if I will like a different size is to cut some copy paper or graph paper into the page size I want to try, to do a sample/pretend version. It has been a fast, easy and affordable way to eliminate what won’t work for me, and it shows me in physical reality why I will or won’t like it (not wide enough/too wide, not long enough/too long, etc.). This method has helped me out many times, and saved me money and heartache when I get the itch to change. It confirms my favorite size is my favorite size for a reason. I hope this helps!
My spread is at the bottom of my key page, which is fitting. But I don't use the whole space like yours, I write it down with arrows. Like: (hor) 28 points, 27 boxes, (vert) 39 points, 38 boxes. I'm not really visual so this works for me. I got this from Pick Up Limes (Minimal bj setup for productivity...). If I would do yours - and I might in another BuJo - I would put colors for the lines at 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and write it down too with the same color. TFS Nicole PS love your homemade candle; does it smell like maple?
Sounds like it works for you, which is awesome! I actually didn’t make the candle, there’s a company that makes these maple candles in old maple syrup style cans!
@@PlantBasedBride Never seen those cans before. I found some on Amazon, even maple pancake... Cool. PS Yesterday I watched an old videos of yours (Aug 21st, 2011). Someone asks you to marry him and you politely declined. LOL. I think you look around 16 y.o. You've been doing this a while but you look the same, just a bit more mature.
I'm a newbie to bujo and love the freedom it provides. This simple explanation into doing a grid spacing spread has really helped. Currently I have sticky notes at the back of my journal with the counts on, but now I'm going to make it a part of my notebook. Thank you
That’s pretty accurate to what I do, yeah! I usually keep on using those ones just for day to day writing or when I don’t care as much about a specific line weight.
You do the exact same thing! So 35 vertically would be split into 17.5 spaces (halves), 7 spaces (fifths), etc. 21 across would be 10.5 spaces (halves), 7 spaces (thirds), etc.
I don't use one. To me, the grid spacing spread is redundant. If I need to recreate the exact spacing for a particular spread I did, I can just flip to the old spread. It works nearly the same way and I don't have to waste time and a whole page on it. Instead, on my index page, I mark how many dots are across and down by writing the number and a tiny arrow at the top of the page. I also darken the center dot for the width and length of the page. This way my index functions as both an index and a minimal spacing spread. It's worked for me so far. But I can see how others would find use in it, especially if you create a lot of boxes in your spreads.
She didn’t create it. She even said in her video that she found this spread from an Instagram influencer. Dont comment things that spread false information.
What spread or concept should I cover next in my BuJo 101 series? 🤔 Do you use the grid spacing spread in your bullet journal?
Plant Based Bride maybe calendars or habit trackers
You might want to do habit trackers, or hand lettering

I would love a video on how you use your circle tool, including for lettering. It’s fascinating watching you letter with it.
Oh, that’s an interesting idea! ❤️
Yes please! As a disabled person on very small income I can’t afford everything others use. So to multiple uses on one thing is fantastic.
@@PlantBasedBrideDid you ever do this tutorial?? 😅😬
The grid spacing sheet is one of my most used spread, it’s so goood and you explain it so well

I really needed this 😂. The first time i did this i was sooo confused 🤦🏻♀️

I'm starting a new journal soon and I have been looking everywhere for this video!! Talk about a time and life saver!
I am moving to a B5 book this year and used this video as a cheat sheet because I am lazy. So, much appreciated.

This was so much easier explained than a lot of other people! Thanks girl!

Thank you!
It’s totally normal to realize you need to change up a spread for it to be the most useful for you! ❤️
This is very helpful. Thank you for sharing. I’ve never really had to use grid spacing. But now that I see how it’s really used I might try it :)
Interesting video!
I've always wondered why people divided it into spaces instead of the centimeters (since we often use a ruler to make spreads!).
Thank you for this, officially setting up a journal and was explained simply!
So helpful! I'm new to this bujo world and your video is clearly explained so I'm going to use this for reference to my 2021 bujo 💖
Man, I've been curious about if I'd like a B5 but I'm so used to my A5 idk if i can let go 😂
That's fair! A B5 is definitely not for everyone, but I love mine :)

Your videos are so aesthetic, and thank you for this video because I suck at grid spacing and I always end up messing the spacing.
Love your work 😍🤩
Aw thank you! I’m glad it was helpful ❤️
Perfect explanation! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank u 🌷
Ok thank god for this video, you’re my life saver!
Thanks for helping me. ☺️
Thanks sooo mucchhhhh ik i am a bit late watching this but i was looking for a vid like this so helpful 😅

i finaly get it that took me so long to learn and i watch 1 video frome you and i get it thank you so mutch.
what can I do if I have an odd number of horizontal spaces
You’re my hero.. thank you for this video I really needed it 👏🏻👍🏻✨
I’m so glad it was helpful! ❤️
Hi! An unrelated question, how often do you have to change your microns? When they've become too "dry" to give the same thickness?
That’s pretty accurate to what I do, yeah! I usually keep on using those ones just for day to day writing or when I don’t care as much about a specific line weight.
@@PlantBasedBride I really wish there was a more sustainable way than buying new pens this often!
quick question: what if the numbers are uneven on the page for the grid spacing cheatsheet? how do i split them in half?
Ooooh your ruler 😍😍😍 so prettyyyyy
this helps me alot thank you so much💗
4:00 What if i have an odd number of grid spaces!? Help!!
Loved it!!!!! *new subbie* ❤️
Can you please tell what to do if you have a blank BuJo?
Meghna Devarapalli hey. So Plant-Based Bride replied to someone who asked the same question as you. Make sure to check out her response!
Im too dumb for this
What do I do if the number of squares I have is odd vertically (35) and horizontally (21)? 🥺😭😭 I’m so confusedd
You do the exact same thing! So 35 vertically would be split into 17.5 spaces (halves), 7 spaces (fifths), etc. 21 across would be 10.5 spaces (halves), 7 spaces (thirds), etc.
can you do grid spacing on squared paper
Definitely!
I don't use one. To me, the grid spacing spread is redundant. If I need to recreate the exact spacing for a particular spread I did, I can just flip to the old spread. Thanx❤️🍀
My mind is still confused 😬
u kept getting horizontal and vertical mixed up lmfao

She’s not the first person to use this spread, though I did mention that I saw her version before trying it myself in the description of this video.
She didn’t create it. She even said in her video that she found this spread from an Instagram influencer. Dont comment things that spread false information.
