You have a very steady hand and your pre shading is very accurate. The final look is very pleasant to the eye and realistic. Quite inspirational for my next models!
I get this is an old video now (great one by the way) but you can pre-shade over a black base (black basing) simply by reversing the process. Instead of darkening down the panel lines you lighten the centres of the panels. So you lay your black primer down, then use a white or light grey and spray the centre of the panels. Or you can take it further and randomly spray in the centre of the panels (marbling).
Yeah, some do not like it.. I have heard excuses that it does not get dirty from the inside and out.. Sure.. But here we are after something that LOOKS good and decently realistic.. And it works.
