To enthusiasts' of Original Transcon RR era, the men who rose to greatness, and those who remain in obscurity, bear studying, toward understanding the profound complexities of the Manifest Destiny era of our Republic. General Grenville Dodge stands out as one of the outstanding railroad builders of that era. His home in Council Bluffs can be visited, and is well steeped in the ambience of that era. My Father’s grandfather’s, brother fought here, under Siegel. Yes, he also was born in Germany. His name was Henry Wahl - Company C - 54th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers . Thank you Uncle Henry.
