birds are honestly awful pets for most people. I love prince but i wish her owner would clarify how much work goes into having a happy healthy bird. They are also very expensive pets. You need to be so careful about doors and windows open and say goodbye to vacations unless you have someone willing to do exactly everything the bird needs. Birds honestly signal the chaotic energy of both cats and dogs with a sprinkle of their ancestral dinosaur mayhem. All that unhinged mischief but pocket sized (for small to medium species). They definitely are not for everyone. But if you can handle the screaming, biting, clinginess, pooping everywhere, and destruction, then you could potentially form a loving bond with a bird. My birds are my whole world, but it takes a lot of patience to be a bird parent. It should never be an impulsive decision.
Also some of them live SO long. Which for a loving owner is nothing short of a miracle to have the same pet your entire life, but I don't think people tend to consider. Are you prepared to care for this pet every single day for the next 80 years? I absolutely LOVE African Greys, but personally my life (and specifically my work) requires a lot of travel. I don't want to stress a bird out by constantly traveling with it and it never having familiar home or me being gone the whole time. But when I retire it will be to late, unless I can come across an old one that needs a home for it's golden years. Hopefully things will align then but if not that's ok. Because as much as I would love one, I want to give it the best life, for it's whole life and that's just not my life right now. 😢
@@mom.left.me.at.michaels9951 I’m in the same boat! I love African Greys so much! But I don’t know if I can be a suitable owner for one as of now. And even once my life is at a point where I can give one a home, I also need to make sure I have a plan for who to take care of it if something were to happen to me. With my current birds, I know at least my mom and brother would do their part to take care of them if needed. But a bird like an African Grey or a Macaw is another story. Even my little ones scare my family sometimes. A larger parrot would probably be too much for them.
