Jamie is a amazing, just such a wealth of knowledge. Sad M5 is so quite after such a vibrant series of Mythbusters. The interviewer made things awkward tho as he had a random gaze off in distance and fake smile. I only watched this video to listen to Jamie. Plus the interviewer touched so much without asking. If he did his Jamie research he would know he doesn’t like people grabbing his stuff.

I like both Jamie and Adam, but I've come to realize that I like to think about things the way that Jamie does. Most people are drawn to the way Adam talks, but I lose focus on what he talks about. When Jamie talks, solving problems is recognizable and his discussion in another video about how you solve a problem that you don't know how you'll solve it yet (with his discussion of pushing) reminds me exactly of myself - he's just smarter than I am. But the ideas work whether you're smart or not.

23:40 dont put him or anyone on a pedestal "you're a true genius" for many reasons: 1- is it tells them you're "lower status", which makes them want to talk less to you. 2- it annoys them: they're surrounded by ppl that talk to them like they're gods and get weird interactions and they hate it. They just want interactions with smart ppl that also have stories, tricks, etc they want to learn. They are tired to be around ppl that WANT something for them instead of just a dialogue. Just dont do that. That being said, i love that question where jamie explains how he solves a problem, he never get asked questions like that

I agree with Jamie's vision for robotics; it should be more like a very specific tool that allows you to do work in a more precise or more efficient way than was possible before.
Much like a microscope, to view things that are not viewable to the naked eye, or a pair of pliers that allows you to grip what wasn't possible to grip before.
Not the autonomous, full AI driven things that developments seem to be aiming at.
As evidenced by search algorithms and advertising/categorization algorithms on social media - having a human aspect involved in the process seems like quite a critical aspect of the whole 'robot' thing

Not to even mention the emotionless smile. Finally im surprised the interviewer doesn't even know what hes talking about regarding robots...

So true. Bu timagine it without Jaime.. hell, watch Tested to see... basically a never ending stream of product placement, sous vide, self driving cars, etc. etc. with the occasional sculpting of something visual interesting but otherwise vapid.
Left to his own devices unfortunately Adam's unfocused interests have manifested as making copies of movie costumes and sneaking around at comic con in them. Moderately interesting for sure, but not a lot of meat there.
I will say Adam does have a passion for the public/community component of problem solving and learning and seems to contribute a lot more in that regard. Jaime is very self centered in his pursuits, which I suppose can be expected by his social awkwardness and inward focused musings.

Indeed, both of them complemented each other and filled their shortfalls.

Adam is probably the only worthwhile thing on tested to watch - the reviews and the other hosts I find irritating.
Comicon and one-day builds are part of it, but look at some of the videos where he visits Peter Jacksons prop collection or goes to visit Movie/TV Sets. Having a skilled and knowledgeable interviewer (Adam) interview someone about cool stuff they made is really entertaining. He can ask follow up details and genuinely appreciate and grasp what someone has made. Most interviewers, like the one in this video, just don't have the technical skills and knowledge to keep up. Some of the points Jaime made in this video (Im thinking about the self-building robot part) seemed to fly over the interviewers head.
Not in the same way as the Jaime stream of consciousness, but worthwhile on its own I think.

I'd like to see a show with just Jamie. Adam is a sculptor and basically a replicator, but Jamie is more of an inventor. Failure is always an option, but the journey can be a lot of fun.

I love that Jamie builds useful tools or product as compared to Adam who wastes his talent on kids cartoon garbage.
