Thx for your little talk and I really like your shots! As I have a Fujica 6x7 already I have been holding off getting a folding camera, but I am looking at several and I am a bit curious and intrigued, so maybe I'll give one a go some day. Cheers!
I tried my first folder this year absolutely loved it a ferrania falco 2 from 1948 I’ve since bought an Ikonta m which is beautiful and produces some fine results also got a bessa 2 wow just love these folders so much fun to use with more that great images. That Agfa looks interesting too cheers
I'm shopping for an Isolette right now, it's hard to find one in great condition but they're my favorite of the folding cameras so far. Thanks for the great video!
Bought my Isolette V yesterday, from a very nice and chatty elderly couple (they liked that I didn't just buy it for decorative reasons. Though it is a pretty neat looking camera, in my eyes.), for 20 €. I used to have Balda Baldix. I still have it, but the shutter jammed. And since I don't want to damage it any further, I won't fix it until I find a manual on how to fix it, somewhere, somehow. The Isolette's focus ring was a bitch to get moving. Yet with the help of my trusty pocket knife, some good old WD-40, a tissue and some force, I got it to work again. I tell you, there's nothing WD-40 can't fix. God bless you, Norm Larsen. Truth be told, I like how the Agfa handles. It is a bit weird that the shutter release is right next to the lens. Yet, I get why they did it. It saves up on money and is probably easier to fix.
I bought one but nothing happens on pressing the that weird shutter down. I can cock the shutter and then press the cocking lever back again to open the shutter. But it doesn't seem to respond to any shutter speed. The timer works but the shutter doesn't fire on completion. I imagine the link between the big silver shutter release and the shutter is broken somehow. Did you manage to get yours fixed? Thanks
@@darwinbeagle9394 the Balda was an easy fix. All I had to do was to turn the lens more towards the shutter. I don't know how, but it got loose and turned away from the shutter mechanism. The Agfa is a different cake. Now the shutter blades won't allow the shutter to function. I'll have to take the lens tube out and give the blades a wash. And I dread that. Shutter blades are a pain in the ass.
@@RudiW1510 Yeah my shutter blades open and close but not swiftly or according to shutter speed. But the mechanism is broken it seems to properly fire the shutter.
My everyday 120 camera is an Isolette III . It fits perfectly in my pocket ! I own Mamiyas Bronicas etc but i will walk the city with this little gem !
I have mamiya six, IV B (1955) and absolutely love it. It has a coupled rangefinder. I had to change the bellows and bought them from that Uk guy. It was a nightmare to change.
They are wonderful cameras. I have an isolette v Have taken some nice photos with. Unfortunately it has developed leaky bellows. Going to try liquid electrical tape to fix it.
Thanks for the video. Can you comment on how to compose an image in the viewfinder without frame lines? I just had my grandpa's Agfa Ventura 6x6 restored with new bellows, and curious if you have any tips for composing.
Hello. Can you tell me how to align the aperture setting correctly. The lever is obviously right angled and I’m not sure which part aligns with the number. I should think it is the upright part but just want to check. Thanks. Paul
Thanks for the information! I’ve got one Jsolette V from my passed grandpa, the focus ring is stiff, too stiff to move in any direction. Is there a workaround without disassembling? Greetings from the founders land
Big I and J are, at least in handwriting, considered the same in German, so this ist in fact an Isolette, not a Jessolette.
I used a torch like you suggested and ended up burning the bellows. The camera is now ruined.

Great, as a Falco fan I have to get that camera now too.
@@RudiW1510 definitely worth trying, I need to dig mine out again, used it on a few vids couldn't fault it, lovely camera.
Any tips for fixing the hazy lens? Just got one from an antique market

Would love to see you with an Agfa Click or Clack too
By the way, it is pronounced Isolette. The I is just stylised as a J
I had wondered this.
Thanks. Some discussion that it was to avoid confusion with other isolettes.
I=I and J=J, so I get some Isolette and Isola, and i get the Jisolette V, it is a diffrent. ask a german Photomuseum;)

I should think it's the other end, actually, as that end is able to align with both the 4.5 and the 32, whereas the upright cannot reach the 4.5

I know some people would use a contact spray cleaner or some lighter fuel. Agfas are well known for this issue. Thanks for watching!
I indeed have the same with all three of the Agfas I have.
