All Around my Hat was one of my first albums. Yes it does have drums, courtesy of Nigel Pegrum, who also added flute on a couple of tracks. Possibly their best album, produced by Mike Batt of Wombles fame..
Hi - thanks for leaving the comment and clearing up that Steeleye Span did have a drummer. My brother and I saw Steeleye Span at the Capital in Aberdeen several times in the 70s - always a great show ! In addition to All Round My Hat, I loved the Below the Salt album with that great fiddle tune “King Henry”. Cheers Bill
Interesting acquisitions Bill. I got a box of around 200 cassettes recently and digging through I was most excited to find the Magic Roundabout album was in there. Yes I want to see the divestments. Never been a fan of Pearl Jam, so agree with that choice. I turned-off the Discogs alerts a few years ago. Cheers Dale
Hi Dale - agree a bit light on divestments. The Magic Roundabout theme tune is so evocative. Thanks for your advice- I’ve now turned off the Discogs notations - cheers Bill
A very eclectic mix Bill covering just about all genres (except prog sadly). Love the Man at the Patti 10", they really should issue an expanded version. And talking about expanded versions, the Cheap Thrills set looks nice, but shame they didn't retain the Crumb cover. All Around My Hat was produced by head Womble Mike Batt and drew some criticism for going in a poppies direction, but for me it's a really enjoyable album. I've got that Monterey Pop Festival set too, and I think I too saw the film for the first time at a late night showing when I was at Uni in the late 70s. All the best...Pete
Hi Pete - thanks for watching! I do have some Progressive Rock in my collection (Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Supertramp, ELP, Pink Floyd) but I probably need more! Some Camel or Caravan? Monterey Pop was a great film. Cheers Bill
