Rishabh is my favorite instructor on Ask and he just demonstrated why with this very concise and informative review. I think the Fire is an interesting concept but the limited velocity sensitivity is a deal-breaker so I am going to skip it for now. My beloved FL Studio itself needs to be streamlined a little bit before I would consider a companion launchpad but I'm excited for the future of Akai and FL Studio!
When i wanna sit in a coffee shop or at the pool or on a plane and just bang out some quick ideas...Fire is the shit. And in conjunction with my Akai MidiMix I'm completely portable. I can't stand being boxed in damn studio walls to make digital music, to me it's dated and uninspirational. These units are my notepads for expression and innovation. Excellent review.
Finally, FL Studio has its own midi controller. But unfortunately, this is still not a competitor to Launchpad Pro. If Image-Line had done a few more things in Launchpad Pro, or at least made that the labels on the buttons correspond to their purpose, then its functionality will surpass Akai Fire a hundred times. Because: Why Fire's pads do not have an aftertouch? This is a very important thing. And I'm not just talking about using aftertouch to, for example, do vibrato, using the controller as a MIDI keyboard with keys, but to adjust parameters, such as the cutoff frequency of the filter or the channel volume. The adjustment would occur with two pads: with the pressure on the first pad, the parameter increases, with the release, nothing changes. Then, with pressure on the second pad, the parameter begins to decrease from the position in which it stood before. Thus, absolutely any parameter can be adjusted by assigning it to such a "Midi CC". Much more could be done in this controller, for example, editing the contents of the playlist, well, I mean deleting, adding, cloning clips. But, unfortunately, this is not added. I will sincerely hope that Image-Line will add all this. If my expectations are not in vain...
It was marketed as a kind of daw sequencer. With velocity, that's the "aftertouch" in sequencing. Aftertouch is more of a keyboard thing, or even drum pads
Why on fucking earth would you use a literally FL STUDIO MADE controller on any other DAW?! Its specifically made to work exactly with FL Studio and with no other DAW. You really win the award for the dumbest question :D
@ 18:55 you can change velocity, pitch by holding down the step and turning volume knob...u can also hold down and multiple steps at a time...
