I find it funny that the GOC is deemed as villain in the SCP lore. Imagine you're a proud member of the GOC, searching and destroying god like demons and there's a group of people taking these demons, putting them in cardboard boxes, labeling those boxes as dangerous and expecting them to hold... NA! Get those stupid wannabe Pokémon "gota cach em all" type logic out of here! The SCP foundation is still epic tho.
Honestly, I have a head canon where SCP-343 Allies with these guys in a LOT of cases, also in SCP-5000, I can see SCP-343 somewhat helping The G.O.C out. But, dying in the process, or leaving that universe, and going off to another one
I mean, if you think about it the foundation isn't necessarily good. I mean, they get their funding through blackmail, they refuse to destroy most highly dangerous anomalies, they seem more motivated by science and their logic rather than any love for humanity, and their 05 council is full of people exploiting these anomalies for their own gain. Personally, I think it's just best to embrace illogic instead and become chaos incarnate. Have you heard the good word, by chance??
The Foundation's point of view makes a lot more sense tbh. Object SCPs are typically safe class and can't break out of their boxes, better to keep them in a box and save them for when they're useful than destroy them. Lots of SCPs are just innocent people with weird quirks or powers that don't deserve to die. Dangerous anomalies might be worth destroying, but it's always a coinflip on whether it'll actually work or if it'll just become more dangerous in an unpredictable way. The Foundation does try to destroy truly uncontainable anomalies, but most of those are literally immortal.
@@saucevc8353 they don't really keep safe SCPs because they're useful (though it is a minor consideration) as its usually a REALLY fucking bad idea to use anomalies to fix anomalies (though that is in essence a scranton in most canons). They're kept more for the chair incident / escalating danger

There are also plenty of Euclid anomalies compared to safe ones and keep in mind that the object classification system does not equal danger level, it’s best we make sure the KTE has been neutralized. Plus, the GOC does not harm all anomalies, we tend to leave NTEs alive (well, sort of), and we have anomalies working for the organization and an anomaly leading it, D.C. Al Fine

i think that ganzir is a good material for movie, but foundation loss IS the bad ending, the fact that the entity who controls humans has not been defeated and humanity remains as it is makes a cool and dark ending.

I always daydreamed about rougue Foundation personnel defending Ganzir. They managed to avoid the fate of rest of the staff, and now are still here, loyal to their duty. To Protect. I really like the SCP5000 story, but I feel like there is a massive plot hole. Why did the foundation not use that special cognitohazard that they used on their personel worldwide? That would make it so that most of Humanity could live, and perhaps even force IT to manifest itself, so the foundation can kill it.

I think that’s kind of the point, that the group that decided “kill all humanity” is the solution might not actually have everyone’s best interests at heart. It could also be that when they used the hazard on themselves, they stopped caring about the rest of the world, or further alternative, people within the foundation itself refused, so they just said screw the whole thing, or still another alternative, they had a limited amount of time to kill 5000-A
I really enjoyed the 5000 story as it gives a needed flip on the switch. It is also awesome that there is a canon answer to the question, "why", written by the same author.
SCP - 7841 V is for Violence Basically humans had no emotions or pain and kept killing and nuking each other until someone found a person with a parasite that gives emotion to the host, and they use this "anomaly" as the blueprint for humanity.
The depressing thing about SCP-5000 is that there is no truly good ending. If the SCP foundation wins, the very things that make us human are lost, but suffering is avoided. But if humanity prevails, the entity wins.

That would make the cure beneficial, but not a revelation, a salvation. The Foundation had to have discovered how the Entity perpetuated itself. For the longer the Entity continued to exist, the more pain it required. Not simply pain as experienced by living humans, but pain experienced by dead ones as well. And so they did not die, not truly. “How do you live with it?” Another one, the pale-skinned female with brown hair, spoke up. “PNEUMA cured us, but we can still feel the dead all around us. It’s duller than it would be if we could detect it without having our sense of pain eliminated, but…I can still sense them. The agony spread across all of those microscopic fragments. It’s…” “Disgusting.” “That’s not a strong enough word,” she agreed. Billions of humans had existed throughout time. And as their bodily functions ceased, their consciousnesses had remained attached to their rotting corpses (or worst of all, made to endure cremation). But once those corpses were gone, the pain was only amplified. The smaller the fragments of those who had once been human became, the greater the suffering of the fragmented spirit that had once occupied the body. And that suffering, that endless, disgusting suffering, had never ceased for as long as there had been humans. All for the Entity. “You will do what must be done?” It needed to know for sure. “We will,” the pale-skinned man confirmed. “We could only disseminate the cure to our organization. Releasing it on a wider scale would have caused the Entity to notice us. So we must now exterminate all those still infected by it.” “It must be all of them, or the Entity will survive, as will the eternal torment.” “We know. Every SCP at our disposal will be used to eliminate the human race. Including you.” If it could, the Creature would have smiled. “I will do my part.” - They failed, of course. As thorough as they had been, they had missed one man, one horrid man who had reset reality with the help of the Entity. None remembered what had once been, how close they had finally been to freedom. None remembered the cost of their failure - though once their mortal lives ended, they would experience the consequences themselves. I would've like to see an alternate version of SCP - 5000 where Ganzir did survive but just barely and they somehow managed to stop the foundation from destroying humanity. Maybe like in the last minute, a divine intervention came from an SCP siding with the GOC and they managed to lure the entity out and kill it. But the aftermath is most of earth is not survivable because of the war against the foundation and a lot SCP's roam free and not to mention, the SCP foundation is gone. So humanity has to live in Ganzir. I just feel like there is a lot of plot holes to the SCP - 5000 story.
That would be the bad ending if the Foundation failed. The writer himself confirmed that whatever the entity planned to do with humans was a grim and horrifying fate.
I could imagine dr bright being too strong against the mind thing, he would probably be spamming “L bozo no skill you’re dogwater get good” over foundation comms after beaming a whole MTF squad with an orange suit

I never found out what entity theyre reffering to but if its connected to humanity it deserves to exist alongside us, and so even if it controls us, we owe our existance to it. Unless it hijacked us from our creator. Then thats intolerable.
According to what I understood, it is a parasite that infected the collective subconscious of humanity from the beginning, causing humans to feel pain, but at the same time it gave us the possibility of empathizing. That is the reason that anomalies that normally attack mainly humanity did nothing against the members of the foundation, because when they freed themselves from the influence of "it" they stopped being human. (but it must also be said that that thing gave unimaginable torture to humans after dying)

I really love the irony of this part in 5K story here and just how beautiful the entirety of the lore itself. For clarification, Ganzir isn't just a cool name the GOC came up with for the last bastion of humanity, it is a name of a city of the dead in Mesopotomian mythology. A city that is supposed to rise from the sea and shield humanity from the end of the universe the day the dead outnumber the living. Yet, unlike its mythological counterpart, it failed... The problem is that I have with SCP-5000 is how massively it under powers the GOC and Ganzir. That place was an absolute fortress. The GOC has advanced mech suits like the orange suit and completely invisible white suits. It’s crazy how powerful the GOC really is compared to the SCP foundation
There are many takes as to why the foundation did it but one of them is because of SCP - 2718, a cognitohazard that can change the course of your afterlife. Instead of going to hell, heaven, or even nowhere, you instead remain conscious. You can feel your body decomposing, the insects eating you, and you can't do anything about it. Which is why they had to resort to exterminating humanity
I find it funny that the GOC is deemed as villain in the SCP lore. Imagine you're a proud member of the GOC, searching and destroying god like demons and there's a group of people taking these demons, putting them in cardboard boxes, labeling those boxes as dangerous and expecting them to hold... Honestly, I have a head canon where SCP-343 Allies with these guys in a LOT of cases, also in SCP-5000, I can see SCP-343 somewhat helping The G.O.C out. But, dying in the process, or leaving that universe, and going off to another one

I mean, they get their funding through blackmail, they refuse to destroy most highly dangerous anomalies, they seem more motivated by science and their logic rather than any love for humanity, and their 05 council is full of people exploiting these anomalies for their own gain. The Foundation's point of view makes a lot more sense tbh. Object SCPs are typically safe class and can't break out of their boxes, better to keep them in a box and save them for when they're useful than destroy them. Lots of SCPs are just innocent people with weird quirks or powers that don't deserve to die. Dangerous anomalies might be worth destroying, but it's always a coinflip on whether it'll actually work or if it'll just become more dangerous in an unpredictable way. The Foundation does try to destroy truly uncontainable anomalies, but most of those are literally immortal.
@@saucevc8353 they don't really keep safe SCPs because they're useful (though it is a minor consideration) as its usually a REALLY fucking bad idea to use anomalies to fix anomalies (though that is in essence a scranton in most canons). They're kept more for the chair incident / escalating danger

Plus, the GOC does not harm all anomalies, we tend to leave NTEs alive (well, sort of), and we have anomalies working for the organization and an anomaly leading it, D.C. Al Fine

I think that’s kind of the point, that the group that decided “kill all humanity” is the solution might not actually have everyone’s best interests at heart. It could also be that when they used the hazard on themselves, they stopped caring about the rest of the world, or further alternative, people within the foundation itself refused, so they just said screw the whole thing, or still another alternative, they had a limited amount of time to kill 5000-A

If the SCP foundation wins, the very things that make us human are lost, but suffering is avoided.

We don't really know that much about the entity. Pretty much all we know is that it gave humanity the ability to feel pain.

Then it saw their eyes, and all became clear.
“You are free,” it said.
“Yes,” one of the researchers, a pale-skinned male with orange hair, said in reply. “And so are you.”
A long, silent moment passed. Much could be said between the two former enemies, now united by their common hatred. The Creature was not interested in apologies or recriminations. It wanted answers.
“How?” Any other question was superfluous.
“Project PNEUMA,” the dark-skinned female researcher said. “The Foundation had long ago discovered the collective psychospace of humanity, and had designated it SCP-5000. But until recently we did not have the technological capability to fully map it. A decade ago our research into applied psychotechnology made a breakthrough, and several weeks prior to today we discovered…”
“The Entity,” the Creature finished.
“Yes,” she nodded. “And…what it does to us.”
“Or rather, what it does not allow you to do.”
It knew that discovering the Entity would not be enough to make the Foundation see the truth. No, they had discovered the toll that its existence had exacted upon humanity. It was not simply that it was intertwined with the concept of pain, and so being freed from it also freed one from that unfortunate feeling. That would make the cure beneficial, but not a revelation, a salvation.
The Foundation had to have discovered how the Entity perpetuated itself. For the longer the Entity continued to exist, the more pain it required. Not simply pain as experienced by living humans, but pain experienced by dead ones as well. And so they did not die, not truly.
“How do you live with it?” Another one, the pale-skinned female with brown hair, spoke up. “PNEUMA cured us, but we can still feel the dead all around us. It’s duller than it would be if we could detect it without having our sense of pain eliminated, but…I can still sense them. The agony spread across all of those microscopic fragments. It’s…”

“That’s not a strong enough word,” she agreed.
Billions of humans had existed throughout time. And as their bodily functions ceased, their consciousnesses had remained attached to their rotting corpses (or worst of all, made to endure cremation). But once those corpses were gone, the pain was only amplified. The smaller the fragments of those who had once been human became, the greater the suffering of the fragmented spirit that had once occupied the body. And that suffering, that endless, disgusting suffering, had never ceased for as long as there had been humans.
All for the Entity.
“You will do what must be done?” It needed to know for sure.
“We will,” the pale-skinned man confirmed. “We could only disseminate the cure to our organization. Releasing it on a wider scale would have caused the Entity to notice us. So we must now exterminate all those still infected by it.”
“It must be all of them, or the Entity will survive, as will the eternal torment.”
“We know. Every SCP at our disposal will be used to eliminate the human race. Including you.”
If it could, the Creature would have smiled. “I will do my part.”

I would've like to see an alternate version of SCP - 5000 where Ganzir did survive but just barely and they somehow managed to stop the foundation from destroying humanity. Maybe like in the last minute, a divine intervention came from an SCP siding with the GOC and they managed to lure the entity out and kill it. But the aftermath is most of earth is not survivable because of the war against the foundation and a lot SCP's roam free and not to mention, the SCP foundation is gone. So humanity has to live in Ganzir. I just feel like there is a lot of plot holes to the SCP - 5000 story.

I never found out what entity theyre reffering to but if its connected to humanity it deserves to exist alongside us, and so even if it controls us, we owe our existance to it.

According to what I understood, it is a parasite that infected the collective subconscious of humanity from the beginning, causing humans to feel pain, but at the same time it gave us the possibility of empathizing.
That is the reason that anomalies that normally attack mainly humanity did nothing against the members of the foundation, because when they freed themselves from the influence of "it" they stopped being human.

I really love the irony of this part in 5K story here and just how beautiful the entirety of the lore itself.
For clarification, Ganzir isn't just a cool name the GOC came up with for the last bastion of humanity, it is a name of a city of the dead in Mesopotomian mythology. A city that is supposed to rise from the sea and shield humanity from the end of the universe the day the dead outnumber the living.
Yet, unlike its mythological counterpart, it failed...
And only in the last moment of a dying universe, in its last breath, in the unraveling of the future and the possibility that the end is adverted and prevented, not by a great triumph of good over evil or the clashing of Immortal Gods wielding fiery swords in the heavens for the fate of our eternal souls, but by a single man, a pencil pusher that was too afraid to stop, a right man in the wrong place who tragically, will never know *why*

The problem is that I have with SCP-5000 is how massively it under powers the GOC and Ganzir. That place was an absolute fortress. The GOC has advanced mech suits like the orange suit and completely invisible white suits. It’s crazy how powerful the GOC really is compared to the SCP foundation

Finally someone who agrees. I’ve always agreed with the goals of the GOC and Chaos Insurgency
There are many takes as to why the foundation did it but one of them is because of SCP - 2718, a cognitohazard that can change the course of your afterlife. Instead of going to hell, heaven, or even nowhere, you instead remain conscious. You can feel your body decomposing, the insects eating you, and you can't do anything about it. Which is why they had to resort to exterminating humanity
