We used to get regular Whale Shark encounters while scuba diving in the Musandam (strait of hormuz) Always at the same locations which we were led to understand were way points. Most were Juveniles coming from the supposed nursery near the gas rigs of Qatar. Becuase we were often teh only people up there (private group of friends diving) it was quite common to spend 30 mins with a whale shark. - (we used to dive with underwater scooters) and they would come to us and hang out. It was such a privilege.
