No. 52 was Joey Dunlop on 500 triple! That was a great wee bike 2 outright TT lap records (Joey in 84 and Steve Cull in 88) won the 87 Senior, 3 North West 200s. Sadly she was destroyed after catching fire during the 88 Senior TT due to holed expansion chamber. Thanks for posting!!
A 500cc 2 stroke bike with 280 lbs weight with 160hp with a power spread of 3000rpm with no electronics...the engines rev twice as quick as a four stroke engine & put the power down twice as quick...makes a four stroke bike seem like a road bike in comparison...I had a career ending huge highside with the Suzuki 500 2 stroke when the gearbox seized...2 stroke 500s were the greatest race bikes ever made
I believe you without a doubt. My very first (street) bike was a 1974 Suzuki T500. The first bike in the world that got a reliable twostroke oil pump working. Suzuki was really proud of that. Now my nephew bought a 50cc scooter. A twostroke, those are faster. And another fact, we should never forget Walter Kaaden. You know why, I suppose, the rest of the world should Google that man.
Eddie one of my fav riders. Wayne Nice guy met him in his home town in wolongong. But I think the commentators would b missed most. This is the year Australia gain the world champion and really started to promote the sport.
ahhh brings back memories....13 years old going to the little chef for an early starter with mi dad, then to donnington to watch the racing the smell , the noise , the racing, stickers posters, pissed up blokes asleep, nice birds, sticky fucking toilets. donington miles better than silverstone
Never missed a gp at Donnington, better circuit than Silverstone for bikes. Saw my first moto gp last year at Silverstone as it was rossi last one nothing compared to the 500's. Saw his first on 125 at donny and last 👍
Why do they have piston engines? Turbine engines were far more powerful, even those days. Think about helicopters needing light engines and 1500 or 2000 hp. Why didn't they allow those in Moto GP? Races would take half the time!
Gran carrera.
A tank that lasts forever. Rather own any 1993 CB, than a brand new R6. Should I call you names? Just kidding. You got the point. Old bikes have character, new bikes have stupid plastic designers. I regret selling my 1974 Suzuki T500 and my Cagiva Allazura 350 (in fact a Ducati Allazura, the Pantah engine). Yes, stupid, never sell classics.
OMG my neighbor let me ride his '81 CB900F when I was 17. Just down the street he said, not on the highway. I got to the end of the street and there was the hwy, and I just had to power thru a few gears to feel it. Big mistake, with only 4 stroke dirt bike experience when I hit the gas in 3rd gear it pulled so hard I slid back on the seat and the throttle twisted to full. I was hanging on for dear life, accelerating and couldn't release the throttle. Finally I did and was doing 95 in a speed wobble. That day almost ended me.
No problem, everybody paid 25 times more, when numbers of spectators dropped. That trend will continue, until only Yankee billionairs can afford a ticket. It's called good old capitulism. Give up, in Latin.
In the nineties, the first 600cc STREET bikes broke the 100 bhp limit. That was fourstroke, twostrokes are almost TWICE as powerful. And race bikes have always been a lot faster. So, yes, 320/liter, MrStalin.
Wow! Great to see Murray lifting up the Krauser!!! 🙂 His enthusiasm for motorsport knew no bounds.

I was there. A huge Spencer fan, I was absolutely gutted when he fell out of the running.
Look at the crowd.. golden era. Glad I was around to witness these legends before H&S took over
Yes exactly before Silverstone decided to charge 100 quid to get in aand 30 to park!! Absolutely ruined it.
Murray, what a legend :)

"It's dry, Randy!" I bet, Mamola would have appreciated a Gardner hose.
What a fantastic vid, this is why I have an RD 500 in the shed :-)
Wasn't motor cycle racing enjoyable then ? especially when you have two absolute stars. Bless you Barry and Murray ,you are sorely missed. R.I.P.
Couldn’t agree more
Yes that's the one, it's all changed many years ago,but those memories with my dad are priceless
This is REAL moto gp
Great days great days, I had my yamaha rd50m 🇬🇧👊😎

Beautiful ELF colours 💯👊👍🇬🇧
Fausto Gresini won the 125s and Sito Pons in there as well. Names we all should recognise. Poor Gresini was taken out by Covid.

Yes. Mighty Mick Doohan and later Casey!
Been to Donnington 90s to watch fast ford's

These motorbikes were cannons!!!

Awesome, 32hp from 80cc 💯😎👊🪓
Well done Eddie & YAMAHA
Great Race
Randy on the DUNLOPS
Gran carrera. Si señor.

Probably the best of the road going 2 strokes in my opinion...felt more planted & solid compared to the Honda or Suzuki...
the little chef at the traffic island. with the petrol station there too??
Nobody was on Eddie's pace that day -
I was at this one and another a few years later. Great racing. Did Spencer ever lead a GP again?

i rode a 1993 CBR900RR .... compared to my 2012 R6, that thing was a tank!
But what a tank it was 😉

1987 crowd 70,000.... fast forward 10 years & it was less than 10,000

Avon, pneumatiques 👆❤️
what year did they stop running the 80cc championship

Cannae beat a crisp 2-stroke.

320 HP/L, i guess not.
