The pickpocket you bump into the first time you enter Saint Denis' gunshop takes 5% of your cash wealth. If you chase him down and either hogtie or kill him then loot him you get back 300% of what he took from you. Depending how much you had on you at the time he's the richest NPC.

The richest NPC is the smuggler from Guarma. Remember he gives you 450$ and says “it’s not much but it’s the least I can do”

Technically wouldnt the German father in Chapter 3 be the richest since he gives you a gold bar when you save him.
Significant detail: it was a gold ingot worth $300, whereas a gold bar is worth $500.
I mean if we’re counting npcs in the story then Cornwall is easily the richest and it’s not even close

Fun fact: during the mission where you kidnap angelo bronte & dutch drowns him, you can loot angelos knocked out body when john knocks him out due to an attempted murder & throwing his mauser pistol at john, and he has about $155.
(Also when he throws his gun at you it will remain on the floor after john knocks him out, before you carry him you can aquire his gun.)
The pickpocket you bump into in Saint Denis is actually pretty rich. You can chase him and demand back the money he stole, and he’ll give it to you. If you then kill/hogtie him and loot him, you’ll get another nice chunk of cash!

There's a gang hideout in the grizzlies where each npc has at least $20 and some gold on them. You can make an easy $1000 there.

Also just south of that is a little shack just below the “little” on the map. There you can find Dutch’s requested item.
And all the way up that little creek on the right is a hermit lady in possession of half a treasure map for you. The final piece is within new Austin in a cave, so good luck finishing that one.

the bounty hunters that you chase down in the braithwates manor with charles give around 20 bucks when looted which is quite suprising
Some bounty hunters typically have like 20+ dollars. So if you're doing a few specific things youll find like 5 or 6 of them with a ton of money. Although you typically dont need this petty money in story mode
While at the gray and Braithwaite family manors, if you loot their guards they have roughly $30 each, easy way to make money
I think the guy that pickpockets you is the richest because you can take your money back and other money he's took, adds up to $1000 or $800.
Pickpocket in Van Horn took $600 from me and I got it back and looted him for $655.
And the pickpocket at the Saint Denis Tailor gave me more back after looting him than the gunsmith pickpocket.

In the little hut where the criminals were, there was like four or five you were supposed to leave one on live and he will tell you where the money stash is and then you can take like 50 bucks from them and then after they’re done telling you you can kill him. That’s what you’re supposed to do at that hut.
Love your content mate and gotta say I love your voice, it's so soothing, occasionally I just put your videos on the background when I'm doing other stuff and might not even listen to what you say or watch all of the video itself, but just have your voice as a comforting background sound. Of course besides that your videos are so fun to watch, best rdr2 content on UA-cam for sure!!

When I was a noob, I killed Npcs that had nice looking clothing or suits and loot them. I didn’t get as much as I expected 😂 (it was rdr2 online not story fyi)

The most I’ve got from an NPC that’s not unique (like Bronte who gives like $500) is during the mission where you save Trelawny with Charles from the bounty hunters, the 3 bounty hunters have around $20-$30 on them
Bounty hunters are pretty rich. One time I was attacked by four bounty hunters in New Hanover and each of them had an average of like 30 bucks on them
Angelo Bronte had like 200 dollars but I don’t know if he would count
2:25 if you let one of them live they’ll surrender and tell you where the money is

The bounty hunters that come after you are usually a good source of money/items.

It's probably the ONLY thing in RDR2 that's not really 'built' well as in the reality of people's wealth, even in those times, certainly had more on them than .46 and .64 cents respectively, including the wealthy ones... Wonder why Rockstar developed such incredibly low payouts within nearly the entire coding of this game? Overall, It's a great vid and shows there's really only two candidates. You forgot to search the horses. Most npc’s have gold in the horses saddle

There is a random encounter in van horn where a resident pickpockets you on the way out of the saloon. If you chase him down beat him, then loot him twice, you get your money back plus extra from him. He stole $600 from me and I got that back plus an extra $650

When you loot Brontë after you knock him out, before you kidnap him, he has $155 in his pocket.
When you walk into shops if people pickpocket you and you kill them you can get the money they stole from you and up to $200 extra

actually, during that mission, you do get his Mauser gun if you want which is great. a free Mauser that you won't have to buy from the store.
but the thing that is even better us that after John knocks out Bronte, you can loot him and he has lots of money on him. plus, there are some jewelry that you can steal in one if bis bedrooms, inside the wardrobe.
$405 in 1899 is worth $14,802.65 in today's dollars. That's the equivalent of a guy walking around wearing a Rolex Submariner and a few hundred dollars in his pocket.

If you kill the brother and sister at Aberdeen in the beginning you won’t have access to the hidden stash. You have to let them poison you, rob you and then you have to go back and the hidden stash will be unlocked.
