Filter Out shouldve definitely been mentioned from Aftermath, it’s a softer cyclonic rift that gets all mana rocks, treasures/clues/food, smothering tithes and rhystic studies, and so much more off the table.
There's something I wanted to bring up re: the whole "I'm not on The One Ring because I'm on Collector Ouphe." As someone who has a fair amount of reps on Yisan/Yeva, both decks that mull/tutor for Ouphe fairly aggressively in a lot of tables, I still think the ring is insane. You have a dormant ring sitting on the table and an ouphe. Previously, most decks would want to kill the Ouphe ASAP, if only because it advantages monoG a huge amount to hold everyone back like that. Now? They have to decide "Do I keep the ouphe and prevent the ring from drawing cards or kill the ouphe and give them a one ring?" I've seen that exact bit of discussion appear multiple times at multiple tables. (Side note: I'm pretty sure it's probably better to let the ouphe stay, because monoG heavily lacks repeatable draw engines, and TOR is the best repeatable draw engine outside of Rhystic, and it's pretty close.) That, and Seedborn + The One Ring pretty much guarantees a win unless you're impossibly unlucky or you're already about to lose.
LotR has 5 cards in the top ten, including all of the top three! Each of those cards wholely deserves their placements. What a banger set, across multiple formats. Truly a good year for CEDH.
Sheriff and shirriff are both based off of shire. But shire is pronounced more like scher, hence sheriff being pronounced how it is. So shirriff should be pronounced the same way, but it is a fantasy word so technically it can be said however you want.
I know Talion is going to be mentioned in the next episode, but I think it should have gotten a mention in this episode, since I would rather have a Talion than a boromir or a faerie mastermind
40:09 Legolas quick reflexes really are sweet in the green storm/elves lists with Marywen or Selvala where you can just protect your commander which is a centerpiece of the deck and then use their tap ability in conjunction with Great oak guardian or Hyrax tower scout to take out hate pieces
One kind of nieche card I like with Agatha's soul cauldron is elvish aberration. Forest cycle it away and then all your creatures with plus one counters tap for 3 green. Can go infinte with pilia pala. Even if it gets stopped at least I got a forest out of the deal. Probably better in more casual decks but its a sneaky way to get a ton of mana.
These guys clearly don’t play against or understand Sisay. She got sooooo much better this year from so many of the cards they talked about but they didn’t mention her. She is a top 5 deck for sure.
Saying Agatha’s Soul Cauldron isn’t top 10 worthy is crazy to me. That card is insane for some of the top decks of the format like Kinnan and Sisay, along with just allowing combos in other decks.
Great video guys!! Really fun and interesting. My top for this year would be: 1. The One Ring 2. Orcish Bowmasters 3. Lotho 4. Talion, the Kindly Lord (I know you will Talk about it in your video about commanders, but i think it also goes here). 5. Borne Upon a Wind 6. Invasion of Ikoria 7. Dauntless Dismantler 8. Flesh Duplicate 9. Legolas's Quick Reflexes 10. Beseech the Mirror My honorable mentions would be Faerie Mastermind, Boromir and Kutzil, malamet exemplar. Merry Christmas!
I think battles are a great idea for 1v1 formats especially, in a similar way to planeswalkers they change up the patterns of play in interesting ways.
I agree around 9:30. I've been super obsessed with ob nixilis as a cedh commander, and to me, he seems very similar to tivit. If you go back to the '5 things that makes a cedh commander', tivit 1) is a haymaker 2) gives card advantage 3) gives mana advantage 4) is a combo piece. Then you compare it to ob nixilis which has 3/4 aspects (just doesn't give mana advantage) and is 2 mana cheaper. I think ob nixilis is still worse since it forces you to play bad cards, the combo is worse, and the colours are worse, but it's still a really cool commander!
Mycosynth Gardens goes hard in Equipment decks when Equip costs are reduced. It's a perfect card for casual or just high-powered EDH for a lot of artifact heavy strategies that could use an extra boost for effects that they can't reliably get, or as a way to instant speed copy a combo piece that is being removed when you don't have counterspells.
Something that makes Invasion of Ikoria even more powerful ist that it is very difficult to counter because many cEDH counterspells can only counter sorceries, instants or enchantments 🙂, but it's a battle. Makes this one an even more incredibly tutor 🥰
It is so amazing that Cam excels at the proper pronunciation of make-believe words, while still reaching the pinnacle of making up the pronunciation of actual words. Mad skill range! The floor might be higher than the ceiling.
My favourite card from 2023 for CEDH was Ob Nixilis, Captive Kingpin. I opened it from a promo booster they hand out for FNMs, built a deck and I have proceeded to refine it into something very enjoyable that can win games.
I think the big thing about soul caldron is that it requires many more untaps in order to get value than many other grave yard hate pieces. Graftdiffer's cage needs you to untap on turn 1, dauthi requires you to untap in turn 2. Sould caldron however needs as many untaps, as many turns as there are cards in the graveyard to prove as an actual hate piece in comparison. At that point you'd have enough turns or artifact abuse that you should've won the game by that point, or you'd want it to give tangible power like how much the one ring gives in cards. The best thing about the card: how much fun it was to try and brew with it and figuring out it's place in comander.
Mycosynth gardens also works really well as a ramp card turn 2. Turn it into a copy of one of the 0 artifacts (specifically crypt). Or maybe even Sol ring. I run it in Jhoira and there's been a few times its won me the game.
I’m sure other have said Talion in the 99 has been really powerful. Otherwise, great list. Really interested in your commanders of 23. Talion has also been doing pretty good there.
Sisay plays Legolas. Your three mana bloom tender becomes a 9 mana tapping creatures that kills a creature when you start up untapped combos. Tayam plays it too for the same card.
so a strat I've been using with Invasion of Ikoria that's been beast mode in casual pods but I don't know how well it'd do in comp: I have a Magus Lucea Kane deck that the primary win con is to clone either Invasion of Ikoria or Finale of Devastation just to get a dockside infinite with some form of card draw to draw out and win with another big x spell. I feel like it'd be too slow though for comp so I'm curious what others think.
About Flesh Duplicate, not to mention that if ever you take off all counters from it, it still can be fetched by Invasion of Ikoria or Finale of Devastation in the GY, if that is needed. Borne upon a wind, Invasion of Ikoria for Flesh duplicate into Thassa's Oracle, and go for that Consultation my dude.
Cauldron is just a value piece that's graveyard hate and pumps creatures. It's also makes Kinnan just win with basalt. It's a grandslam of a card. Just got my own promo verison of one for trading a bunch of chaff 3 and 5 dollar cards. So yeah its amazing.
It protects your bowmaster from other people's bowmaaters too. And it protects your birds and other mana dorks too. And if you're running your death rite shaman like you should then you play it for surem turn your whole team into death rite shaman and turn your creatures into guaranteed graveyard hate that let's you make people lose life. It'd a killer combo of Bo graveyard shit is going off and now I'm going to draw and pass and hold up counterspells til endstep before me where a l my lands are gonna Pay for the lose life ability and it turns 5 creatures and 5 lands into 10 loss of life. It's big as hell and leaves me the possibility of holding up a hard cast force of will in hand that whole ass time. It's a great card to set up value locks.
Play it in talion so your bowmastwr is bigger. And that your talion can beat other ralions in the air. And so that you can remove cards that you've countered that have flashback.
I don't think it really changes where Tishana's Tidebinder sits since it's kinda niche, (and 3 mana still too much) but something that I haven't heard you guys mention is that it CAN counter Boseiju.
Not even a mention of roaming throne? I'm guessing it'll be an auto include for magda and krark, and it might fit into some other decks like najeela or yuriko maybe too?
Charismatic conqueror is very very good in one deck, that being Marneus Calgar, where he becomes a Rhystic study -ish card. I don't know how good marneus is in cedh rn tho
Charismatic Conqueror was under my radar too, but in Marneus Calgar it's fantastic. Literally a better Phyrexian Censor. A lot of people are including it rn.
I only needed to play against a D&T deck once with my Burn deck to realize Mom is a MUCH better card than Giver, it's shockingly hard to win a game with Burn if they can resolve Thalia and Mom, so annoying! I do have 2 Seal of Fire now, those can help enable me to get around Mom, for a bad card it sure does an awful lot in some matches. I am curious about Tyvar in stuff like Sisay, but I'm not really sure you need it in there. My concern with Tyvar is that it's quite possible for you to play him and whiff on the minus ability, at which point you've paid 3 mana to mill yourself 3 (and have a 1 loyalty PW). I wouldn't play Tyvar outside combo decks, and their aren't many combo decks that want him IMHO. All Will Be One seems fine in a combo deck, I have no idea why else you'd ever look at it? 5 mana combo pieces are clunky, but it's better than Worldgorger Dragon for Rakdos I guess? I really want to like Ob Nixilis, but it seems like you need to run too many bad cards, I hope to be proven wrong! Faerie Mastermind is a card you can run, but you are not likely to use that 3U ability often, but as noted, it's much better with an Orcish Bowmaster out. Invasion of Ikoria is probably the best card in Green this year, if not the best card period. The tutor ability is pretty solid, and the flip effect is a stupidly big upside for a card to have. It is funny that the flip is cast, meaning Rule of Law hoses it (a bit?), you can't use a bunch of mana and tutor up something big and hasty to flip it that turn. Drana and Linvala is a sneaky card, the ability is incredible (Cursed Scroll is a good effect against a plurality of decks) but people often fail to realize a 3/4 flying vigilance is a very relevant body in cEDH, unfortunately it's smaller than Kraum but if you cast this the Tymna deck is probably looking elsewhere. That said it's also very good in a Tymna deck. I think I prefer this to Mastermind if you don't have support, but 4 mana is a lot of mana, and that's 1WWB, aka very hard for most decks to cast. Now I want to see someone deck themselves with New Samut in Najeela. I now love Mount Doom, I just wish my Rakdos deck ran disposable Legendary artifacts (...shouldn't Mana Batteries be Legendary? I feel like a artifact that bad must be 1-of-a-kind. I like Delighted Halfing in a Commander driven deck, but it's a pretty bad dork in 99 driven decks, who wants colourless? Nobody, that's why nobody ran that Snow dork. I'd play it in my Esper deck, maybe they should have broken the mold and made Delighted Halfling White somehow? Orcish Bowmaster is nuts, it invalidates almost all x/1 creatures, and it can even make a beater or sac fodder, it's a value engine on par with Rhystic Study, only it's also a body. It's also a neat card in Rakdos Pain/Punishment type decks. The One Ring is such a weird card, I personally feel like I don't like a card that achieves Harmonize status if it sticks around for a bit, that's a pretty terrible floor, I never wanted Phyrexian Arena in Zur, even when I had it as a lower power deck. Also, people were all loudly 'you have to Necro huge!!!' and now everyone's gaga over this worse slow Necro effect, and I'm sure everyone also still says Necro sucks. I will say, One Ring is really good in Naya, but in Dimir you already had much better options, and you really should just lean into that stuff if you have access.
Just finished the episode. Good list guys. I think that my only discrepancy would be where you ranked Invasion of Ikoria. It is a great card, but number 4? I would put it in the bottom 5 of the list instead. Just my two cents worth
Man, the aftermath set not getting love with only Samut getting an honorable mention when the new Ob Nixilis came out and has a prominent deck list and following
The funniest thing about the Ob Nix and all will be one combo is that you just need to ping someone. Guess what has 1 power and can start the loop? That's right dockside. As if it wasn't already strong enough.
I love boromir if you have a creature based stax deck he has to be in Creature based decks lose to wipes so easy (does still die to sea rift and toxic deluge) and stops most underworld breach turns
I just assumed the number on a battle is it's health because when you kill the battle you get to play the other side. its kinda weird that it doesn't specify the terminology on the card.
Bruh… yall forgot about Sisay. Legola’s quick reflexes is cracked w/ Selvala and sisay can always have access to selvala as long as they can make WUBRG.
Cauldron is very good in the decks than can exploit the first ability too - kinnan / sisay / najeela / derevi or decks in general that make infinite colorless mana into an actual win. The ability to act as gy hate + combo piece is just the icing on the cake.
No Hoarding Broodlord? I was surprised that such a high cost creature would be so valid in Cedh, but man is it good, especially in K'rrick for Gary devotion, and of course Sawing it in Half is sooo much fun. Obviously it needs to some cheating, but still, I think it deserved to be mentioned.
You all are so wrong with tidebinder. Tymna plus that card is great. Someone has a blocker? Swing this at them so that if they block it and kill it, the other player gets to use their one ring(or kinnan tevesh or whatever commander with activated ability)
Tindebinder is such a good card. 3 mana to stop Atraxa, Tivit, Kraum and all the big commanders is where this card shrines. We’re in big boy winter and this card pulls its weight. Helped me survive Yuriko
To be fair it's really hard to know how good a card is when the set just came out. But yeah I have to agree, Tidebinder is just a house against decks that try to land these huge commanders with the added flexibility of being able to turn off a one ring. plus it's essentially uncounterable with it being a creature lol.
Borne upon the wind isnt something I personally think is all that great. The only time Ive seen instant speed matter was Tylers win after adnaus in the BFB game. I would rather have a ponder, personally, or a consider. "Winning over the top" isnt helpful when we have access to grand abolisher. I would rather have access to sorcery speed things that protect my win than try to win by resolving instant speed things with borne.
Hot take with the insane amount of draw in the meta now from Rystic Study, Fish, Esper Sentinel, and TOR is it time to be thinking about an unbanning of hull breacher?
Whenever you were talking through the rankings and listing them. It seems like you desire consistency over anything. How often is it gonna do what it’s gonna do.
Question about holding priority.. Say i cast Thassa's Oracle and it resolves and the ETB goes on the stack than in response i cast Demonic Consultation than hold priority and cast Legolas's Quick Reflexes targeting Thassa.. Which would dead the stack and make the win uncounterable.. Ive never fully understood holding priority
It doesn't "dead the stack" as you say, it just makes it impossible to activate or cast something while it's on the stack (before it resolves). Note that there are some abilities that doesn't use the stack that can interact with a splitsecond spell like the morph ability.
cards are in decklists and not on the battlefield likely bc they have too specific of a use-case, so the deck isn't digging or tutoring to find it every game
I've played against a lot of Charismatic Conquerer and I feel like it's a meh card. It's a may trigger and it's your opponents choice, if you get any 1/1s you have probably lost and just don't know it. My friends are very high on the card, and I just don't see it.
I've never tried cedh and I don't even like commander but Cam and Dylan are so damn charismatic that this has become my favorite mtg channel
It's only a matter of time!
I am constantly in awe of their chemistry. Always positive and to the point. Helps that they're super knowledgeable.
Yeah don't play cedh but these dudes kick ass
I feel you. I used to play cEDH but ended up quitting but I still watch them.
@@bensteinhauser784 you're playing with the wrong people then bro
Filter Out shouldve definitely been mentioned from Aftermath, it’s a softer cyclonic rift that gets all mana rocks, treasures/clues/food, smothering tithes and rhystic studies, and so much more off the table.
Combining Legolas's quick reflexes with Goblin sharpshooter is hilarious lol
Woah!!! What a combo
@@PlaytoWinMTG I have a jank ass Gruul goblins deck that uses that combo now
Then equip basilisk collar to get insta kills on tap
@@zilkay6558it is kinda neat to have both, but basilisk collar is still better for it.
@@zilkay6558 Collar doesnt give split second hexproof tho, and havibg both is not needed since 2 damage kills a lot of things in the format.

Sisay and tayam use Tyvar like it's crack cocaine. He's a win line enabler in sisay and he's gotta be one of my favorites from the year.
LotR has 5 cards in the top ten, including all of the top three! Each of those cards wholely deserves their placements. What a banger set, across multiple formats. Truly a good year for CEDH.
“Wow that got 5” 59:00 was my favorite part of the episode. Thanks for another perfect top 10 list!
Sheriff and shirriff are both based off of shire. But shire is pronounced more like scher, hence sheriff being pronounced how it is. So shirriff should be pronounced the same way, but it is a fantasy word so technically it can be said however you want.
'Shirriff' is an Old English spelling of the word 'sherriff'. It's pronounced the same way.
I always pronounced it "sure-if." Not quite sheriff but not far off
Tyvar goes absolutely ballistic in 5c sissay. (Especially lists with jegantha)
That’s the choice I’m on right now over chromatic orrery and I love it tbh.
I know Talion is going to be mentioned in the next episode, but I think it should have gotten a mention in this episode, since I would rather have a Talion than a boromir or a faerie mastermind

tyvar and soul cauldron are cracked in that deck and it should have had them bump the ratings for those cards higher.
Given how they didn't mention Kutzil, definitely agree with you. Tutorable grand abolisher ? Why yes of course ILL TAKE FIVE
This aged so well.
@@jonathanclarke9814 it did haha. Dylan realized the Sisay way.

I feel like Talion deserved at least an honourable mention it’s in pretty much all UB core decks in tourney.
I'm assuming it'll be in the commander section

Not even have seen the video but it isn't that hard to see
"The one ring" is probably going to be the #1 by a long shot.
Just finished the episode. Good list guys. I think that my only discrepancy would be where you ranked Invasion of Ikoria. It is a great card, but number 4? I would put it in the bottom 5 of the list instead. Just my two cents worth
Just a things about tyvar is one of the combo in tayam.
I'm glad you took the time to stretch this out for an hour, but everyone knows it boiled down to Bowmaster or one ring
Man, the aftermath set not getting love with only Samut getting an honorable mention when the new Ob Nixilis came out and has a prominent deck list and following
That’s because it will be in next week’s top commanders, Kingpin is great as a commander but meh in the 99
The funniest thing about the Ob Nix and all will be one combo is that you just need to ping someone. Guess what has 1 power and can start the loop? That's right dockside. As if it wasn't already strong enough.
Yeah but any blocker stops it... in a deck full of 1 damage ping effects it's not even worth mentioning
Roaming throne is my pick for sure
In cedh? It's only going to see play in Magda
I love boromir if you have a creature based stax deck he has to be in
Creature based decks lose to wipes so easy (does still die to sea rift and toxic deluge) and stops most underworld breach turns
Thoughts of Kitesail Larcenist?
I was also thinking about kitesail larcenist. It seems better than tishana's tidebinder cuz u can get rid of 1 thing from each player
Charismatic chonqueror really cool in Narset too, stax your opp and pump your creatures
❤❤❤ Have a Merry Christmas fellas! ❤❤❤
Cauldron is litterally insane.... like top 3 easy
Invasion of ikoria and drama and linvala I use in casual pods lol
Didnt touch on the 3 drop Cat Abolisher at all?!?!
The One Ring is so good 💍
I do not think I would include tidebinder in any deck if it were 2 mana. It is still just overoriced stifle.
Cam and Dylan forgot Tyvar in Sisay decks
Whenever you were talking through the rankings and listing them. It seems like you desire consistency over anything. How often is it gonna do what it’s gonna do.
Idk if u ever got the answer but battle have defense counters
In your original review of LTR you said TOR would be good, but not as good as Rhystic Study. Do you still think that now?
Question about holding priority.. Say i cast Thassa's Oracle and it resolves and the ETB goes on the stack than in response i cast Demonic Consultation than hold priority and cast Legolas's Quick Reflexes targeting Thassa.. Which would dead the stack and make the win uncounterable.. Ive never fully understood holding priority
Legolas thing resolves, consult on stack. You can now counter it because nothing more split second
It doesn't "dead the stack" as you say, it just makes it impossible to activate or cast something while it's on the stack (before it resolves). Note that there are some abilities that doesn't use the stack that can interact with a splitsecond spell like the morph ability.
@@sorenstanley3023 ohhhhhh lol well I guess I was thinking split second did wayyyyy more
i think u are forgetting the top part of ASC and how good that is in decks like kinnan, also how good ASC is at shutting down breach loops.
Tyvar is for TnT decks
It’s not the best card of the year but my fav is definitely mount doom. I just love utility lands
cards are in decklists and not on the battlefield likely bc they have too specific of a use-case, so the deck isn't digging or tutoring to find it every game
Poison Dart Frog should've easily been in the top 5. 🐸
You missed hoarding broodlord
I've played against a lot of Charismatic Conquerer and I feel like it's a meh card. It's a may trigger and it's your opponents choice, if you get any 1/1s you have probably lost and just don't know it.
My friends are very high on the card, and I just don't see it.
Cauldron, Tyvar, invasion and kitesail will be higher in my list
My brothers it is time for lifeforce to shine in cedh. Look at the top 10 cedh decks of the year.
What Najeela lists haven't been playing samut...? I haven't seen any lists not playing samut
Just starting the video and I am guessing the one ring
I hope orzhov gets some better combos next year.
No hoarding broodlord talk in MoM? Easily my fav card this year, Mardu storm never felt so good baby
No Talion in this list feels weird. She has been almost an auto include in any dimir deck as a GREAT value engine
Delighted Halfling = Uncounterable Kiki 😎
0:01 Calling either Orcish Bowmasters or The One Ring.
I'd say Bowmasters.
Edit: Totally forgot about The One Ring.
You guys are goofy af, but man do I love listening to you talk about magic lol
