This really works. Last week, our stone was a complete mess, just like in the video, I turned the oven on full. As I lead a pretty boring life and simple things amuse me, I then sat down and watched the 30-minute process. You can actually watch the marks turn to smoke and lift off! 😮 Sad, I know 😊

Basic stuff. I have experienced failed launches and had a mess of my pizza stones. Burned as much off as I could and used the Ooni brush and scraper that was in the video. Ooni ovens are self cleaning. If your stone gets black or dirty, let the oven cool and then pull the stone out and flip it over as shown and use the fresh side for next round of pizzas. The dirty side of the stone is face down in the oven and the intense heat gets them to near new condition again. Well this process work for it too? Thanks have a great weekend😊
Thanks so much for the comment and for the subscribe! It’s difficult to say for sure as it’s the intense heat of the pizza oven that helps turn all the baked on food to ash to dust away and clean your stone, but your kitchen oven may not get that hot. Give it a try on the hottest setting for 40 mins and if that doesn’t work maybe try the electric grill if your oven has one? Hope this helps
I have a round one I ues no my grill. It works great. it's jet black and I will keep it t g at way. I just give it a good scrub now and then with a stiff brush and no water. It's like glass.
looks like a good result. keep in mind that a bronze (softer) brush would probably be better to prevent damage to the stone. the ooni brush ($29) has stainless bristles. while i like the stone itself, i believe that it is NOT thick enough. it's the same thickness as on my bertello grande oven. the stone is either too hot or too cool. i am considering an italian biscotto stone for more even cooking, but the dang things are so expensive! thanks for your videos!
Thanks for watching! Did you see my review on the biscotto stone? i have a video of that somewhere, i didn't rate it that much, found it to be quite similar results cook wise

Nice vide o but i had problem hearing you because of the music in the background. I have a small hearingproblem and when there is different sound they tend to blend together. So for your followers sake dont play any music while you are talking.
Just a question about the Ooni brush, which I’ve just had delivered. On the packaging it says use in a no fire cold oven, but you did it in a hot fired oven. Is this still okay? I’ve heard that with it being hot some of the metal bristles can detach and go into the stone, potentially then getting picked up by your fresh dough and being eaten. Would you only recommend doing this at the end of cooks and not in between pizzas? Cheers. On a side note your videos have helped me out so much during my first few cooks and what accessories to get
To be honest I use my brush between pizzas, whilst the oven is on too, it’s black, charred missing one of the bolts at the end but still works fine. Probably due a replacement soon! I’ve never had an issue with missing bristles but feel a brush is necessary to remove burnt flour from the stone. Ooni probably have to put this on the packet for H&S reasons
Great tips snd advice Tom. I don’t go for a completely clean stone as a matured stone adds character and flavour to the base of the pizza. The Ooni brush really helps though when needed👍
I think that the black carbon areas are permanent and it just improves the stone to cook better next time around. There's no reason to bring it back to its original grey or white appearance.
I just want to say thank you for demonstrating the cleaning and going as far as putting sauce and cheese directly onto a really clean surfaces! Gives me the confidence in doing it. I just received a Solo Stove Pi and I’m struggling with the frozen dough and what appears to be way too hot of stone… :( the flour was burning onto the stove and even damaged (charred) the Bambu pizza peel.
