1991-1994 Chevy Caprices sure did well for the 90s and early 2000s Does anyone know or remember what was the last year the Caprices roam the NYC roads as taxis and cop cars? I know there were still a few of them left after 2000, as some police Caprices responded to the 9/11 (2001) attacks. I saw some documented videos relating to that event. My guess would be 2005 at latest, not long before NYC taxis and NYPD began adding Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissan models on their fleet, although at a small scale at the start.
@@joelanderson_t id say 2003 at the very latest since nyc doesnt keep their fleet cars for long unlike los angeles or san francisco where they still have cvpis in active service
I was 10 years old in 1994, and I can confidently say that life in the 90s was a whirlwind of excitement and wonder. Every day felt meaningful, and there was a palpable sense of joy in the air. Kids played outside until the streetlights came on, filling the neighborhoods with laughter and adventure. I had the unique experience of growing up between the electrifying buzz of New York City and the tranquil beauty of North Carolina, truly getting the best of both worlds. The 90s were an absolute thrill ride. I remember the sheer exhilaration of playing on my Super Nintendo, then leveling up to the groundbreaking PlayStation 1. Action heroes like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis lit up our screens, making every movie night an event to remember. Friday nights were legendary - we'd head to Blockbuster to rent the latest movies and games, then gather with friends and family for evenings filled with fun and laughter. From the iconic sounds of dial-up internet to the magic of discovering new music on a mixtape, the 90s were a time of endless possibilities and boundless excitement. Growing up in this incredible decade was a true adventure, one filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
After 9/11 it all changed. The character of NYC has long left now its filled with SJW millenial weirdos that run the streets. I remember seeing mob guys and real tough guys. Neighborhoods you knew never to go to at night. The city had an allure and an adventure now thats all gone. Cell phones and technology has also ruined alot of its lure and adventure.
did you ever utilize a CB radio or any sort of radio system? i’ve seen old nyc yellow cab photos with CB antennas on the trunk and always wondered what they had them for.
People seemed more assimilated into American culture and a sense of confidence and intention, purpose, in the moment business, self assured vibe in most if not all.
This was the final days of Rome before extending citizenship to anyone that wanted it. It literally was the collapse of Rome and is also the collapse of the US as a whole.
It has to be from 1995 to 1997. I don't see any 1998-1999 Ford Crown Victorias, as the first of them would be out on the road as early as late 1997. It'll be more convenient if there was a specific year of when this was recorded. I doubt this is 1998 or 1999, maybe early 1998, first quarter. I have no exact information of when the first 1998-2012 Crown Victoria was hired on the NYC taxi fleet or the NYPD. Do let me know if anyone has information, as the 1998-2012 FCVs were designed to last 10+ years on the fleet, a very successful vehicle for those years listed.
@@joelanderson_tif it's 1995, it's very late in the year... Chrysler didn't start making the version of the Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country seen in the video until model year 1996.
Really miss NYC in the mid late 90's. The whole world was just better than in fact it is today for so many reasons.... Everything changed after 9/11. After 2020 everything got unexpectedly worse and lots of America cities lost their character and unique feel becoming generic and overrun with corporate chain businesses. The New York skyline was also ruined by an overbuilding of supertall towers along 57th Street and in various parts of Midtown also which now block views of the Chrysler and Empire State Building. sadly.
Im not a new yorker but nyc uses steam for a lot of things from restaurants to hospitals. In fact there is a big network of steam pipes that. Had not been for steam system, the manhattan skyline would be filled with high rise buildings with chimneys, and pollution.
gotta love the crown vics and the early 90s caprices

@@MSX98FMDnB I see. They apparently still have at least 1 Crown Victoria for display. Last year, it was next to a 2020s Ford Mustang Mach-E.

When we still had cell-phones around, but nobody looking at them for every second or every 5 minutes
This is 96-97!! the new Chrysler vans where and no 98+ crown vics. The aero vics had the 95-97 rear tail lights
I miss those older American made cars they used for cabs back then. The newer imported models have no character.
Yeah reminds me of the cars from GTA. Now they all look all the same.
Wow, first woman is so beautiful
I know, for a car
In 1997
Life when Uber never existed
Great quality!
She pulls the door handle like 5 times in 3 seconds
Judging by the cars this was 1996-1998
Well It look may be 1998-1999
I went in the early 2010s and it was closer to this than today

The real New York City
Nyc taxis Caprice Crown Vic Odyssey 😍🚖
BACK WHEN AMERICA HAD CULTURE AND CARS WERE SAFE AND COMFORTABLE
Cars are safer now wdym
When did the Chevrolet Caprice/impala taxis phased out? I mean the "boxy" designs. By late 90's, I guess?
gta liberty city stories
This is definitely New York 1997 for sure the Minivan cabs & curvy style crown Vic & ‘94 Chevy Caprice definitely ’97
So what year exactly is in this film?
1997 the older Fords and Chevys were retired by this point
Can't believe today's NY has become garbage dumpyard.
It was back then also
One word - Democrats
u dont evn live in NY plz stfu
Back to the time when taxis were big American beasts...now there are only Japanese eco friendly minivans..
You mean the American apex tanks of nyc and I hate to see how the world is now!
minivans are more spacious and eco friendly. no ones losing sleep
Back in the 90s they had Honda Odysseys operating
In the 2000s they had the sienna till this day
And probably the new eco friendly cars are better since they are more fuel efficient and less polluting than the v8s
But yeah I'm gonna miss them
Do your job as a patriot and restore a future American classic. I got two, my LWB LTC and my grandfathers grand marquis.
this looks like 6th ave and 34th street
About 1997 or 1998 I'd say.
It look maybe 1998~1999
