Greetings from southern California. Bought the 650 Enfield in 2019 and it's been marvelous all 33,000+ miles. I will say the classic 350 looks even better
Royal Enfield are building some fabulous bikes these days. Interesting to see what they’ll come out with next. A new Classic 500’perhaps. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
Hi, I am on second Classic 350 reborn and fitted FuelX pro, DNA filter with the intake plate, de-cat pipe, bottle silencer, and the 16t sprocket. I can safely say that it was all waste of money.. I can confirm that the only improvement you need to do is fit the de-cat pipe (£25 off Ebay) and leave the original air filter but either fit the DNA inlet or cut the snorkel off the original air filter cover doing this makes the bike the best it's going to be believe me. I have done speed timing runs, top speed runs (Gps), and spending all the cash did NOTHING.. The decat and the air filter cover gave the bike a better torque overall. They are governed to 73 mph (GPS), which shows on the speedo as 75/76 mph. I even removed the ABS fuses as this does away with the speed restrictor (not the rev limiter), and the bike only gained 4-5 mph, but you had no speedo and ABS.. Cheers Stevie
Hi Stevie, thanks for your excellent comments. Yes it’s so easy to throw lots of performance parts at the bike only to be disappointed by the end result. I agree that the de-cat pipe and air filter cover is the pest option. I’m considering doing the same to mine, although I do like it the way it is now. Thanks for watching the video, hope you enjoyed it 🏍️👍
I did the same modifications minus the 16t sprocket. Then I replaced the camshaft with the Hitchcocks high performance one. The camshaft makes a real difference in engine character and power. There is nothing wrong with the stock 350, but for the price of the camshaft and the ease of installation (did it myself in 1,5hrs) I think it is well worth the money. Improved midrange and 5bhp extra power at higher revs.
You need to just remove just one of the ABS fuses, not both. Whichever one does not give you no speedo. I presume you still want ABS though. I prefer my bikes without ABS. Thanks for the useful info about adding tuning stuff, much appreciated. My local RE dealer tried the 865 (I think it is) mod kit on the Interceptor thinking it would improve the bike. He wasn't impressed and doesn't recommend it. 🧐
For long distances, especially on warmer days, I use a sheepskin seat cover. I bought an offcut that fits the seat and it makes a massive reduction in saddle soreness.
Thanks for you input, much appreciated 👍 Personally I find that the standard seat is very comfortable, even on long runs. As for the warmer days, unfortunately we don’t seem to have many of them here in Scotland 🤣
Interesting about the exhaust, I fitted the Hitchcock de cat pipe but after 100 miles removed the pipe back to standard. My reason was the note just lowered to a pitch that resonated in my helmet so back to standard and once again a happy bunny with my Classic 350. Only mods I have done is Daytona heated grips and a top of the range DID chain fitted on the first 300 mile service. The chain has only been adjusted after it’s initial stretch and is now perfect after a further 1100 miles. Quite simply after 53 years of riding this is my perfect bike, just enjoy every ride with a grin on my face. 😊 Just remembered I fitted the 2 touring seats in black in place of the brown seats that came on the Halcyon Green Classic, the firmer touring seat for me is far more comfortable than the standard soft seat and better finished. 😊
A beautifully personalised bike. I totally agree with all your reversed modification. In the long run, you have probably saved a lot of people a lot of money not changing items for little gain. Especially the silencer. All 3 J platform 350s sound just great. I am not a great fun of the single RE pannier but it is definitely useful. I have removed the back seat from my Meteor and fitted a 35L top box. Am also dabbling with fitting a set of 80s Krauser panniers or GIVI E22s but the GIVIs seem a bit small. Love the outdoor style of this video, it worked really well. Besides, your beautiful garage makes me hang my head in shame. Thanks for posting.
Hi Tim, thanks for your encouraging comments. You’re correct I could have saved myself lots of money knowing what I know now. Hopefully others will pause before rushing down the modification route. Now if Givi would make Monokey side frames then I could put my Alaska pannier cases on. That would get the purists going 🤣 Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Hi Nick, thanks for your comments. I’ve been blown away with just how popular this video is, over 7,000 views in 3 days is huge for this channel. Also that 95% of the comments fully agree with what I’ve done to my bike. Thanks for watching 🏍️👍
Great video agree with you on the tyre front , had a puncture on my Himalayan front wheel not a great experience. Have a 350 classic now so I’ll have to save up for some tubeless rims.ta for now Bob.
Hi Robert Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it interesting 👍 I really like my alloy wheels, having tubeless tyres and tyre pressure monitoring is a bonus. I was also very lucky as I got mine at a very low price at a Motogb sale.
Great video and I like the little mods you've done. I've had my Hntr 350 since the beginning of March and I've done nearly 3000 miles. I wasn't impressed with the list of things I had to correct, within the first week, so couldn't see the point in returning the bike to be serviced by people who don't appear to know what they're doing and to pay them as well. Fortunately, like you, I'm more than capable of servicing the bike myself so not too worried about warranties etc. Brilliant little bikes though! Now I've got into the rythm of that long stroke motor, I'm really enjoying it and can't believe the fuel returns ....... between 104 and 121mpg ....... truly amazing! Spoked wheels look good but those alloys, you've fitted, look just great 👍 All the best, Phil
Hi Phil, great to hear that you enjoyed the video. Yes they’re fantastic little bikes, that little engine is the star of the machine. Love the old school simplicity of it. I’m very impressed with the Hunter, it’s another great bike from RE. Thanks for watching 🏍️😂
@@tigerness5555 I agree with you about the 'old school' simplicity, having said that ......... yesterday, the engine management light came on 😮 Took it straight back to the dealer and their machine said it was a fault triggered by the oil temperature sensor. They cleared the fault code and re flashed (whatever that is) the bike's ECU and said that should solve the problem. I've done over a hundred miles today and no further issues 🤞Still a great bike though 😊
Thanks for the round up 👍. I've got a Gunmetal Grey one and in two weeks I've already covered 300 miles. I do like the alloy wheels and I've been thinking of getting some myself. I contacted motoGB but received no reply to my enquiry. Hitchcocks have them for £400 plus vat so I might wait until my standard tyres need replacing then swap to tubeless at the same time.
Do MotoGB have any stock left, now that they are not the RE importers? I bought my alloys from them shortly after they started their "clearance" sale at £275 for the pair, but I noted a couple of weeks later that they were asking something over £300. I'm guessing Hitchcocks will be your only option.
I was lucky getting mine when I did from MotoGB. I’ve looked at them on eBay direct from India at a very good price. Depends if you’re willing to take that chance and also possible importing tax as well. Hope you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
Enjoyed the video. My parents wouldn’t let me near a motorcycle growing up. The first motorcycle I ever rode was my uncle’s Honda CB 900. I got my first motorcycle 1986 Yamaha. Swapped it for an 86 FXWG Harley in 1988. Still have it. I’ve been really wanting a new Royal Enfield 350 classic for a few months now. Found a 2003 500 Bullet with under 3000 miles. Bought it last week and haven’t failed to ride it everyday so far. It’s just flat out fun to ride. I usually go to a popular bike night in Nashville Tn that draws around 60 bikes. I took the R.E. and I noticed people taking pictures of it. I’ve never seen one there before.
Great story you have there. It’s not all about power and street credibility. These Enfields are something special, you have to own one to understand that. I never thought I would buy one, always considered them slow, unreliable with terrible vibration. I now love my wee 350, it puts a smile on my face every time I look at and ride it. Hope you have many more Royal Enfield adventures. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
It’s nice that you’re truthful about the exhaust and other extras you put on , which turns out to be no good or no benefit ,and as I say. It is what it is , a 350cc single that’s why we bought it in the first place, it doesn’t need to be fiddly about with.
Great video! I've also had my Classic 350 for 10 months and done 2,500 happy miles on it. I've left mine completely stock and find it the perfect bike for me. I've watched with interest how owners can't wait to start changing everything on their bikes as soon as they get them but I was never going to do that and it's encouraging to see how many, like you, then put them back to standard spec. Cheers!
Don't think I would touch a classic either, it would be like I was vandalizing a piece of art... I did molest my Meteor a little though, nothing major, just bar end mirrors and a small black fly shield... *Crap Game* 🎉
A front and rear mudguard that are actually fit for purpose!….imagine that …an innovation from 70+ years ago that actually works still….I wish someone would bloomin’ well tell modern bike designers about it…..as a normal everyday motorcyclist I’ve had to spend a small fortune on “fender extenders” to prevent the road detritus mucking up the radiator and undercarriage on normal use on Britain’s/Nothern Europe’s rain sodden roads!!🤦♂️🙄🙈…..nice bike …great vid 😉👍
Hi Tommy, love your comments. Yes the mudguards may look old fashioned but they do a great job of keeping the bike and rider clean. A friend of mile was out on his new Honda NT1100 on damp roads a few days ago. When we stopped he was so happy with it, when I asked him to look at the back of jacket he was shocked. It was filthy with road dirt thrown up from the back wheel. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
@@tigerness5555 they shouldn’t have to be a “fashion” old or otherwise pal…..if brand new cars had no wheel arches or covered engine compartments underneath , could you imagine the furore?!!…..it’s just practical common sense….and when people say well they don’t look “Gucci “on a street bike I just refer them back to the RD 250’s of the late 70’s with their longer mudguards!!they were popular and “down with the kids” and as “street “ as could possibly be!……it’s simple law of kinetic energy and gravity…a spinning wheel with contact with a sh1te surface will spread said sh1te!!!🤣🤣👍…..
Enjoying your videos! Looks a lovely secret Road. I fitted a few extras to my Meteor. Touring mirrors, as original ones, just a blur. Crash bars, deluxe pegs, fly screen, heated grips, and sump plate, which takes the splatters from the road. The wheels do look very nice.
Vielen Dank für ihre Videos . Sie haben mir einiges gelehrt . Ich habe mir die Classic in chrome bronze gekauft und ich bin absolut begeistert . Grüße vom Niederrhein / Germany
Hi Paul, great to hear that you enjoyed my video 👍 The screen is back on my bike for the winter months, I like it for the extra wind and rain protection it gives. Come the summer time it’ll be back off again 🤣
Hi Paul, great to hear that you enjoyed my video 👍 The screen is back on my bike for the winter months, I like it for the extra wind and rain protection it gives. Come the summer time it’ll be back off again 🤣
Added a bunch of stuff to mine, heel/toe, touring seat, engine guard, windscreen, foot pegs, canvas saddle bags (color matched), rear rack, Tackform cell phone holder with 6” usb to Apple cable. But never messed with the engine or exhaust as they just run so beautiful and are easy to work on. Funnest bike(s) I’ve ever owned to date, 3 Classics and 1 Meteor (girlfriends) maybe under powered but NEVER under funned !! (Proper Kings English)
Now after 3 months and 3,000 miles on my halcyon green classic, I agree with everything you say. i've also installed some lower profile chromed bar-end mirrors and the heel/toe shifter. I have the touring seat and can't recommend it enough. Cheers from chicago
I tend to do fairly long runs when I’m out 150 to 250 miles, over that distance the louder exhaust gets a bit wearing. Fine for a short blast. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
K & N filter upgrade only is a benefit it is a better filter overall. No need for the open cover. I use them on all my vehicles and clean them periodically with soap and water then some oil guard rust spray is what I use for the element after it dries... no need for a specific kit. Yes the limited power makes the stock exhaust probably more than enough although the clean look of the free flow is a nice thing.
I agree with you regarding the mods, these bikes are not made to do high speeds and do not really benefit by decat pipes, filters etc, i fitted these and made very little difference in my opinion.
Hi Richard Great to hear that you enjoyed my video. Actually I’ve made a few changes to the bike since that video was made. My bike now has the performance camshaft, decat pipe, standard air filter with more open cover. I agree with you, the decat pipe and DNA filter don’t really make any difference to the bike other than more induction and exhaust noise. The performance camshaft definitely does make a big difference, more power and much more fun to ride. Check out my video on fitting the camshaft if you’ve not already seen it 🏍️👍 ua-cam.com/video/heylXlwUcjs/v-deo.htmlsi=178UfZBQIotgk0hS
In a perfect world I would have one of these to relive my days when I owned a Bullet 500. As with my Bullet I would probably try to move the seat rearwards by a couple of inches to make room for my unfeasibly long legs. I like your cast wheels and cannot understand why RE does not offer the option of these from new, especially for the "Signals" and "Dark" models.
I like to see what you like to do. Also the explanation of your mods. I would do differently but everyone is different. I like my motorcycle seat harder also otherwise I feel the steel pan. Springs useful too. Don't care for the bar end mirrors since they make it wider and harder to split lanes or go in narrow areas. I like the alloy wheels tubeless tires only way to go!
I ride a 42 year old Honda XL250. It has 20hp, but its power to weight ratio is far better. I get to where anyone can go, even if it takes a wee bit longer, and im still getting 90mpg. Tax and MOT free also. I like the new 350 range, deserve the success they are having.
The XL250 is a fabulous bike, I remember wanting one when it came out. My Classic 350 transports me back to what it was like riding small bikes back in the 1970s. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I've sold mine just last week. Nothing wrong with it as a whole, just did not fit my stile and places of riding. I would kept it but unfortunately don't have place for many bikes like you.. I also had done few modifications similar to yours.. Low seat, heel-toe lever but also changed the handlebar with taller one. I see that you have the engine guard.. I guess that you removed the 16t sprocket because you don't do a lot of constant high speed riding. My absolute favorite modification it would be to fit tubeless rims with new spokes and relace the wheels with the original hubs. Or the cheap option would be to seal the spoke holes.. Budget adv riders do it and it keeps the original look of the wheels.
Hi Creo, I’m lucky to have more than one bike, and can enjoy the little Classic 350 for what it’s intended for. You make some interesting comments 👍 Hope you enjoyed the video.
Cheers for this vid mate on the bits and bobs. Having test ridden I may try putting the gear change up a tooth or 2 when I pick up mine this week as i found it a bit ballet dancer to up shift. However I wont be adverse to putting on the heel toe unit if that dont work as Ive had plenty of bikes with rocker changers. Intend to remove the pillion and rear pegs as I only ever ride solo. Seen a chrome rack made for it in solo trim so may get that. Thanks again. Lee
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍 I moved mine up a tooth on the spline when I got my bike. It did help but it still isn’t as good as the heal and toe changer in my opinion.
I know you did not like the noise level with the Hitchcocks silencer but the power increase you get from it actually comes from the Decat pipe. You can keep the original silencer without an issue. The DNA filter kit is actually the easiest way to improve the power, other people who have tested this system have commented on the improvement.
Hi Steven I’m planning on doing the decat pipe and dna this winter. May also be tempted to try the new camshaft. Watch this space 🤣 Hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I prefer the standard exhaust the Hitchcock’s one is too loud a friend of mine has one on his and another lad I know has just decated his and in my opinion that’s spoiled the sound as well the wheels are a great idea 👍 excellent video TM 👍
Thanks Ainsworth Rider, it’s easy to get carried away trying to make your bike better. I recon my bike is now perfect for my needs and lovely and quiet into the bargain. I’m now just going to keep riding and enjoying what is a fabulous little machine. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Greetings from India! I clicked on your video because I noticed alloy wheels on a red and chrome Classic 350. Can't say I've seen alloys on a chrome RE until now. You seem to have the ones you can get through the official MIY app. Anyway, the reason I took interest in your video is that I have an Interceptor 650 in the Mark 2 colourway, red and chrome like yours. I am in a dilemma. On the one hand, the stock wire wheels look perfect on my bike and far better than any alloy wheels could. On the other, cast alloy wheels are far more practical with their ability to mount tubeless tyres AND require no periodic wire spoke adjustment. I was thinking of getting my hands on the alloy wheels from the new black edition of the Interceptor. They won't look as good as the stock wire wheels but your bike looks pretty good. Maybe if I can get chrome mudguards for my bike. Perhaps, chrome vinyl wrap? Or just the silver ones from the older models.
This is the only bike I’ve ever owned that I prefer the factory exhaust. It would be an insult to RE’s engineers to change it. It’s marvellous how they’ve replicated the sound of the original Bullet and kept it E5 compliant.
I bought my meteor 350 in November 22 currently I have 4,300 Mi on it very happy with my purchase I ride the motorcycle roughly 80 miles a day for work on the back roads thumps along at 60 miles an hour and doesn't miss a beat very happy with my purchase. I tried the 16 tooth changed back to stock lost torque with 16 tooth
I would be interested to hear your experience with the 16T gearbox sprocket and why you went back to standard. I have fitted a 16T to mine and find it a really good change.
I found that the bike had less torque and was slightly over geared. I think the standard gearing is perfect for this bike. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍😁
I'm always at a loss for the 16T sprocket idea, yeah it will reduce rpm at cruise speed, but only by about 200 ish rpm, but also what it will do is reduce the acceleration in the intermediate gears, which is kinda defeats the purpose of the dna performance air filter and cover, the de-cat pipe and the fuel X lite, so personally I never even looked at it, but I have done the holy trinity of upgrades for the J-series engine as mentioned 😊
I've seen many comments from owners reverting back to OEMs esp the 16 teeth sprocket. . I added the bar end mirrors, put on side panel racks and added the rocker gear lever. The rear seat also removed. I'm curious about the side box, make & model.
Hi James, the side box is a RE item, see link below. Hope you enjoyed the video and found it useful 🏍️👍 accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/43798?cont_page=Royal-Enfield-350-Classic-Accessories
Great video, picking up my New 350 in gun metal grey on the 1st March, think I will fit the DNA filter as I have fitted one to my Super Meteor 650 and it definitely made acceleration at low revs much better, plus I like the noise. Your modifications are really interesting and I like your honesty. The cam would be something I will consider, did think about the de-cat pipe but I have taken on board what you have said and will shelve the idea for now. The touring seat might also be a future purchase. Awesome videos, have only just subscribed so looking back at your past uploads. Happy Riding 😀👍
I did every single mod available on my Classic 350. If I were to do it all again I would only do the following: Bar end mirrors Engine crash guards Touring seat Solo rear rack Decat pipe DNA air filter (which I found had the most significant improvement in performance out of all the mods)
These bikes are fantastic as standard, there’s really no need to do any modifications to them. But we all like to tinker with our bikes and make them fit our individual needs. Hope you enjoyed the video and found it helpful 😁👍
I left my exhaust stock except for removing the catalytic converter. I feel like it really enhanced the stock sound without making it too loud. I would be interested in your experience with the FuelX and why you don’t still use it. I personally feel it’s the single best thing I’ve done to mine. It didn’t really add power but wow, it sure smoothed out the engine performance. It runs absolutely flawless with the FuelX installed. No more backfire on deceleration. Perfectly smooth acceleration. It seems to have given it a little more top end speed now. Previously, 55MPH to 60MPH was strained. It seems to prefer running at that speed now.
Hi, the one thing I didn’t particularly like about the full exhaust, was that the rear silencer was too small. So preferring the look of the original, but just wanting a little bit louder burble, I fitted the Hitchcock’s de-cat pipe. Still looks factory standard, but sounds a bit sweeter. I have put the open air filter cover on, but might just remove that, as the induction noise can get on one’s nerves after a while, and kind of overwhelms the exhaust note, especially on my video’s. I do like bar end mirrors, but I rely on the originals to look to see if my camera is still recording 😂. Currently, I have a tail bag attached to the original passenger seat subframe, but I might look into fitting just one pannier/bag to the near side of the bike……maybe, the trouble is it might not do much for my ocd 🙄 with it not being equal. Thanks for putting this video together.
Hi Ian, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍 I think that the de-cat pipe is the only modification I’d possibly make to my engine now. I also like the look of the standard exhaust system. The down pipe also doesn’t discolour as it’s a double skin. Sounds like you’ve made your bike fit you which is what it’s all about.
Thank you 👍 I also love the spoked wheels but the benefits of tubeless tyres, tyre pressure monitoring and easier cleaning go with the alloys. If I ever sell the bike it’ll have a set of perfect spoked wheels on it 🤣
Hi Tiger! Can you tell me where you found the heel toe shifter? I know there's some better quality ones out there and yours looks like a nice one. I appreciate your feedback and the great video!
This is the eBay seller where I purchased mine from. Searching on eBay there does seem to be other sellers with the same item but at lower prices. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404919081553?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ihiq-7xpqnm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=cAyCjqvlRea&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Hitchcocks in the UK also sell this item, see link. They didn’t sell it when I purchased mine. Hope this helps 😁👍 accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/48006?cont_page=Royal-Enfield-350-Classic-Accessories
your bike looks great! do you ride all year round and if so, how easy is it to keep shiny in the winter? I'm going to get a classic soon but commute year round in Scotland. Will likely end up with a stealth/signals model, but love the halcyon grey - just worried about the chrome!
Hi Jim, like any bike the Classic 350 will suffer the ravages of a Scottish winter if not cared for. A good coating of ACF50 appears to be the best way to protect the bike. The 350 will make an excellent commuter bike. I have mine on the road all year, I’m lucky to be retired so don’t need to use it when the weather is really grim. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
im hankering for one of these.. ive been passing one occasionally coming the other way on my commute..i had a 17bhp burgman scoot for a while.. and that modest output had me wondering why ive ridden high powered bikes most of my life ? , she whips up to 50mph.. but struggles 2 up on hills.. my 300 forza scooter has 24 bhp.. better for hills with partner on back.. but we are getting shaken to bits on the potholed roads of kent with the scooters small wheels.... im perusing the RE classic dark with mag wheels.. a scram would be slightly better for our 2 up weekend jaunts .. if the cam makes the classic extra 5bhp id be almost there... but.. the triumph 400 is coming out soon... and possibly a kawasaki 400 scrambler retro twin..? im trying to hold on and see what is released... great vid tho
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍 Why not take one out for a test ride, that’s the best way to find out if the bikes for you or not. I also understand where your coming from, the new Triumph 400 looks very tempting and would have that extra power which would be nice. Smaller bikes are a lot of fun, still like the power of my Tiger 900 though 🤣
Definitely keep the vids up for others. But its interesting that you've basically got the same set up as me other than the box, I have a saddle bag instead and I've considered putting all the performance mods on you have, though I've yet to bother. The only thing I really do want to put on it is the filter, can't go wrong with more air and just better quality. I've done about the same miles as well over slightly less months and firm agreement really the bike doesnt need anything. It runs as its supposed to. Must admit yours looks a tiny bit cleaner than mine! My engine casings have gone very dull despite being cleaned. Keep it up.
Sir,Wrap a black colour thin line near the gold colour line on the tanky, mudguard and also to the rear mudguard ,the looks will be nice than this one.Thank you
Yes I have the decat pipe, very happy with it along with the other modifications I’ve recently made. Hope you enjoyed the videos 👍 ua-cam.com/video/kaUzgE9iFQk/v-deo.htmlsi=YDnDMpxJDC5q1hdU
Thanks for these updates, great insight on mods and agreed. I may opt to do a CAT delete and more breathable air filter in the future, but really no rush whatsoever. My immediate needs are bar-end mirrors (ordered), and the Low Rider seat. On the fence about ordering the leather option, vs the standard material - is your low rider seat leather?
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍 My low ride height seat is vinyl and a genuine Royal Enfield part. As far as I know the only leather ones are aftermarket parts.
I absolutely agree, leaving the exhaust standard. It’s perfect as it is. Thumping sound is great✅ Heal & Toe is another great option 👌 Just another question, did your alloy rims come with the wheel bearings installed & did you purchase separate brake discs or just used the spoked wheel ones?
The standard system is best in my opinion. The alloy wheels came with wheel beatings fitted, new bolts got the brake disks were also included. I used the disks from the original spoked wheels. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I love the style of these machines, although I do feel they somewhat copied the Suzuki TU250. I never change the exhaust on any machine I buy. Indeed I generally keep bikes as standard as possible, meaning all I will ever have added are a radiator guard and heated grips. As a Suzuki Hayabusa rider I am miffed at why anyone changes the exhaust "to release a few more ponies". As though there aren't enough in stock form pmsl. Seriously considering a RE as an addition to the 'Busa, for those days I don't want "warp speed Scottie" rides....
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it useful 👍 Having a Busa and a Classic 350 is going from one extreme to another. That said, they would complement each other brilliantly. Buy one, you know you want to 🤣
Greetings from Scotland 🏴 I’m already at the next level with my two Triumphs, an 865 Bonneville and a 900 Tiger 🤣 I do love my little Classic 350, fabulous bike. Hope you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
@@tigerness5555 haha no doubt, but I meant experiencing the next level of RE bikes. Anyways, thumbs up to these cool videos and that super cool Scottish accent.
An interesting and honest video which will probably save a lot of people a lot of money. I've left my Classic absolutely standard apart from some bar end mirrors which I have yet to fit. I had a test ride on the Meteor which I quite liked, but the foot forward pegs and the rocker gear change spoiled it for me, but unto each his own. When the Classic came out I traded in my Interceptor and haven't regretted it for an instant. I think you'd agree these little bikes have bags of character, and hand on heart it's the nicest bike I've ever owned (and that's quite a lot!) It's remarkable how such a modestly powered engine can keep up with the A and B road traffic, indeed I had one bloke pull over to let me pass yesterday. I've done about 1,800 miles so far, and every mile has been a joy. R E got it right didn't they?
@@JTST1234RE have that rare gift of listening to what the customer really wants, and in this day and age what is the point of a machine that will break the national speed limit in first gear? Not only that but the price point is unbelievable. I paid the same for a new Interceptor in 2019 as I did for a Kawasaki W650 in 2002!
Hi, you’re correct, I did have a FuelX on my bike when I had the Hitchcocks Free Flow exhaust system on the bike. I found the exhaust system to be too loud for my liking so sold it along with the exhaust. As I’ve now fitted the performance camshaft and the decat pipe I’ve now fitted a new FuelX Light unit to my bike. I’m now very happy with the performance and don’t see any more changes being made to the engine. Hope this is a good enough explanation 😁
Hi Sandy It was on Glensherup Farm Road, just below the Upper Glendevon Reservoir. It’s an out of the way place just off the A823 on the Glendevon / Gleneagles Road in Central Scotland. Hope you enjoyed the video and the scenery 😁👍
I stepped down from a over powered Hayabusa second generation after some years to a Street Triple first generation and some day i must test out how it feels with only 20 hp those times when i need to go fast. Does it work to overtake another vehicle in 130 km/h without downshifting from 6 gear if it have 6 gears or do i have to stay behind. Take care.
It’s a very different mindset, the 350 only has 5 gears and overtaking requires time and skill 🤣 Take one out for a test ride to experience it for yourself 🏍️👍
I think standard is fine. I Don.t use full throttle much anyway. If I did I would buy a faster bike. Agree with the noise thing. Like to hear the bike but not get a headache. 👍 My 500 classic makes more noise as standard but still OK.
Have you ever had a problem with false neutrals? I'm still running my Classic 350 in and it's fine except for some false neutrals between 1st and 2nd, and occasionally 3rd and 4th gears. I wondered if it was my technique, but fast or slow changes, more revs or less don't seem to make a difference.
It’s happened to me a few times, mainly due to me not fully engaging the gear. I find the standard gear leaver awkward to use, that’s why I fitted the heal and toe lever. In my opinion it gives a much more positive gear selection and is much easier to use. Hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
My bikes still going great, now with 10,000 reliable miles on the clock. At the moment it has: Performance camshaft Decat pipe with standard silencer. FuelX light Hitchcocks more open air filter cover with standard air filter. Very happy with how it is, no plans to make any more changes 😁👍
@@tigerness5555 Thanks for responding. Did removing the free flow exhaust impact performance at all? I'm considering putting the cam and maybe the decat and simple air box free flow cover on. I live it rural hilly area and there are times I'd like a bit more umph up the hills. I don't want more noise. Sounds great as is.
I'm looking at getting the same one here in Italy, with 3,000 km. He wants 3,500 euros, I think I will go for it. Are you still happy with yours? Cheers
Absolutely delighted with the new camshaft, it’s definitely improved the performance of the bike. In my opinion, it’s the best modification you can do to these 350 J series engines 👍
Very nice bike that and I actually agree about keeping an exhaust for the tone and musicality of it rather than just loudness. There is a difference, to me anyway.
Royal Enfield only make the box and bracket for the right hand side. Some people have a modified bracket with the box lid opening in the wrong direction. I like it on this side, makes it easy when using on the side stand. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍😁
I got mine from Hitchcocks, genuine Royal Enfield. Expensive compared to others but well worth the money in my opinion. accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/40373?cont_page=Royal-Enfield-350-Classic-Accessories&page=4 The also need the bar end finishers accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/mirrors/43803 Hope this helps 😁👍
Hello. I am happy for this video. I have the classic ordered 😊. I took two rides at the RE dealer and was thrilled. The sound of the original exhaust sounds great to me. I want to ask what adjustments really make sense?🤔🤔🤔 I was planning to install an open DNA filter and remove the exhaust part with the catalytic converter and replace with a free part from Hitchcocks. I also wanted to mount the Fuel X lite. But after this video, I hesitate if it's necessary... so I'd rather ask.
The engine is the star of the machine. Knowing what I do now, I wouldn’t waste my money on the exhaust, fuelX or DNA. It runs and sounds perfect as standard. The changes I’ve made to mine fit in with how I use the bike. Bar end mirrors, span adjustable levers and heal and toe gear lever have all in my opinion made the bike so much nicer to control and ride. Hope you enjoyed the video and found it useful. Enjoy your new bike 👍😁
@@tigerness5555 I liked the video very much. I'm glad you tried a different exhaust, fitter and fuel x. And then he evaluated everything with the fact that the mentioned modifications have little effect on the performance. And they make rather better sound and look. I personally liked the motorcycle in its original form, located perfectly and with a great sound from the original exhaust. With my weight of 100 kg, it drove up to approx. 110 km/h very briskly and accelerated beautifully. It did not go more than about 112 km/h. But the question is where I will drive 112 on ornamental roads.. So thank you very much for the video. I probably won't edit anything 😀.
Once again a great video and i love your perspective on the bike. It can get a bit tiresome when you hear younger bikers progressing in their biker life as if cc and HP had to increase as experience was gained. The actual joy of biking seems to take second place to this demographic mindset of youth. I think a ride down to the Scottish borders from Fife and back on that bike would be a pleasure. Of all the upgrades you have done in my opinion were the power socket and the alloy wheels. Actually it pains me to say that removing the spoke wheels bordered on blasphemy :) but i have suffered punctures on bikes and i would prefer an alloy wheel any day so absolutely understand why you changed them. The wheels do look nice though. I do love the look of this bike.
Actually, i should say i hate you. I am going to buy a second bike and it has to be "British". My brain is like a ping pong ball bouncing between two good players called Royal Enfield and Triumph. I finally decide on a Triumph then you put up a video like this and i'm back in dither mode, then just to put the cat amongst the pigeons BSA release a 650 thumper......arrrrgggghhh. Brain overload
Hi Caledonianbiker, thanks for your comments, I fully agree with you. I was out yesterday on the Enfield for almost 12 hours on the west coast. Did 286 miles with 3 ferries it was a fabulous day out. You don’t go mega fast but you more than keep up with the traffic. It’s just a brilliant little bike to ride. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
That’s easy to answer. The spokes got through the holes in the wheel rim and if you used tubeless tyres the air would leak out through the spoke holes 🤣
What i want to know is. Are these bikes comparable to the big four brands or are they chinesey tin foil. As i am looking at the 350 classic i don't wnat anymore chinesey headaches
What can I say about this. Well I’ve had my Classic 350 for over 2 years now and it has done almost 10,000 miles. The only repair it has needed in the time has been a faulty speedometer which has been replaced. Rock solid reliable bike, easy to maintain and cheap to run. Great bike and the J series engine is excellent. But if you’re looking for a fast high performance machine, then this probably isn’t for you. The best thing you can do is to go out and test ride one and find out for yourself.
They’re great wee bikes with excellent build quality and reliability. I now have 10,000 happy miles on mine, certainly wouldn’t let made in India put you off. Go out and test ride one and find out for yourself 👍😁

Cheers
Stevie
Also remove center stand and lighter battery lithium and save 4 kg.
For long distances, especially on warmer days, I use a sheepskin seat cover. I bought an offcut that fits the seat and it makes a massive reduction in saddle soreness.
Thanks for you input, much appreciated 👍
Personally I find that the standard seat is very comfortable, even on long runs. As for the warmer days, unfortunately we don’t seem to have many of them here in Scotland 🤣
Please don’t get rid of the videos there informative! Beautiful bike I thinks & great video 👍🏻
Hi John, don’t worry,I’m not going to delete the videos.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Just remembered I fitted the 2 touring seats in black in place of the brown seats that came on the Halcyon Green Classic, the firmer touring seat for me is far more comfortable than the standard soft seat and better finished. 😊
Yes, there fabulous little bikes, I love mine. Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Lovely laid back commentary, and some clever add ons well done 👏 👍🏍
Hi Colin, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
That would get the purists going 🤣
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Congratulations on 1/2 a million.
Thank you Ken, very much appreciated 👍
Good that you dispel the ever pervading groupthink nonsense surrounding so called transformative gofaster quick mods!
Hi Robert
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it interesting 👍
I really like my alloy wheels, having tubeless tyres and tyre pressure monitoring is a bonus.
Agree 100% on the tubeless tyres, it is the main reason I won't buy the new Transalp.
Hi Dondle, I agree, tubes are a thing of the past. The Transalp should have spoked tubeless wheels and cruise control.
Hope you enjoyed the video 😁👍
Thinking one of these or the Bullet. Your review is refreshingly honest and very helpful, thank you.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it helpful 👍
Definitely get the bullet looks majestic especially the brown one
Nice overview of your modifications!
Thank you!

Good one ! Ive taken mine back to stock exhaust as well and now converting it over to a Bullet 350 ( new clothes :)

Your bike looks superb, thanks for sharing your experiences with us! 👏👍😀🏍
My pleasure 😁👍
Hi Anthony, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I actually enjoy fiddling with my little bike, it’s so easy to work on 🤣
Great video! Cheers!
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
should I made a video ?? I have had mine for 14 years and more than 25 K kilometers .... and going
Don't think I would touch a classic either, it would be like I was vandalizing a piece of art... I did molest my Meteor a little though, nothing major, just bar end mirrors and a small black fly shield...

Hi Wee Mark, sounds like your bike has some great additions.

Hi Paul, great to hear that you enjoyed my video 👍
The screen is back on my bike for the winter months, I like it for the extra wind and rain protection it gives.

Now after 3 months and 3,000 miles on my halcyon green classic, I agree with everything you say. i've also installed some lower profile chromed bar-end mirrors and the heel/toe shifter. I have the touring seat and can't recommend it enough. Cheers from chicago
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video, ride safe 🏍️👍
You sound like a happy man,yer speed isn’t everything, myself personally I like a noisy bike as it can wake up the tin cans👌❤️
I tend to do fairly long runs when I’m out 150 to 250 miles, over that distance the louder exhaust gets a bit wearing. Fine for a short blast.
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
That is a beautiful motorcycle!
Thank you, hope you enjoyed my video 👍
K & N filter upgrade only is a benefit it is a better filter overall. No need for the open cover. I use them on all my vehicles and clean them periodically with soap and water then some oil guard rust spray is what I use for the element after it dries... no need for a specific kit. Yes the limited power makes the stock exhaust probably more than enough although the clean look of the free flow is a nice thing.
Hi Daniel, thanks for your comments, hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I agree with you regarding the mods, these bikes are not made to do high speeds and do not really benefit by decat pipes, filters etc, i fitted these and made very little difference in my opinion.
Hi Richard
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video.
Check out my video on fitting the camshaft if you’ve not already seen it 🏍️👍

Nice one Ian, good looking wee bike, prefer the new wheels to the spoked items. Secret wee road no more (LOL).
Hi Kingfisher, great to hear that you enjoyed the video. It’s still a secret if no one knows where it is 🤣👍
In a perfect world I would have one of these to relive my days when I owned a Bullet 500.
As with my Bullet I would probably try to move the seat rearwards by a couple of inches to make room for my unfeasibly long legs.
I like your cast wheels and cannot understand why RE does not offer the option of these from new, especially for the "Signals" and "Dark" models.
It’s a fabulous wee bike, thanks for watching the video 🏍️👍
They do on the Hunter.
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video and thank you for your supportive comments 👍
You make some interesting comments 👍
Hope you enjoyed the video.
Lee
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I moved mine up a tooth on the spline when I got my bike.
Hi Steven
I’m planning on doing the decat pipe and dna this winter. May also be tempted to try the new camshaft. Watch this space 🤣
Hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
The alloy wheels look great.
Glad you like them, I was very lucky as I managed to purchase them at a very good sale price. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 😋👍
This is the only bike I’ve ever owned that I prefer the factory exhaust.
It would be an insult to RE’s engineers to change it.
It’s marvellous how they’ve replicated the sound of the original Bullet and kept it E5 compliant.
Hi Julian, it’s amazing how many people agree with you.

I tried the 16 tooth changed back to stock lost torque with 16 tooth
Hi Danny, I agree with you, the standard gearing is perfect for this bike.
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍😁
Rolling on me Fireball Yellow 🟡 Meteor here in North Thailand... Such a joy. Ideal for this location 🎉

Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it helpful.
Thanks for subscribing 🏍️👍
I did every single mod available on my Classic 350. If I were to do it all again I would only do the following:
Bar end mirrors
Engine crash guards
Touring seat
Solo rear rack
Decat pipe
DNA air filter (which I found had the most significant improvement in performance out of all the mods)
As I’ve put the standard exhaust system back on my bike the fuelX is no longer required. Hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
@@tigerness5555 so basically, the happy triumverate would be dna filter, freeflow exhaust and the fuelx box? don't worry, i'm not from the fsb.
Hi Ian, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
I think that the de-cat pipe is the only modification I’d possibly make to my engine now. I also like the look of the standard exhaust system. The down pipe also doesn’t discolour as it’s a double skin. Sounds like you’ve made your bike fit you which is what it’s all about.
@@tigerness5555 yes, re the de-cat. It looks standard, but sounds better. Cheers
I love those rims even though I would stick with the spoked rims.
Thank you 👍
I also love the spoked wheels but the benefits of tubeless tyres, tyre pressure monitoring and easier cleaning go with the alloys. If I ever sell the bike it’ll have a set of perfect spoked wheels on it 🤣
Hi Tiger!
Can you tell me where you found the heel toe shifter? I know there's some better quality ones out there and yours looks like a nice one. I appreciate your feedback and the great video!

I think the Classic 350 will be recognised as a Classic in the future too (E type jag e.g.)
I agree, everyone who rides them ends up loving them.
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
Great bike! I really wanted one but went with the Himalayan to do some adv riding.
I do want to ride more Enfields, especially the 350.
Nothing wrong with having more than one bike, take a 350 test ride, you know you want to 🤣
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 👍
your bike looks great! do you ride all year round and if so, how easy is it to keep shiny in the winter? I'm going to get a classic soon but commute year round in Scotland. Will likely end up with a stealth/signals model, but love the halcyon grey - just worried about the chrome!
Hi Jim, like any bike the Classic 350 will suffer the ravages of a Scottish winter if not cared for. A good coating of ACF50 appears to be the best way to protect the bike. The 350 will make an excellent commuter bike.
I have mine on the road all year, I’m lucky to be retired so don’t need to use it when the weather is really grim.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
That was very interesting, thank you. Regards Edward.

Great to hear that you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
Why not take one out for a test ride, that’s the best way to find out if the bikes for you or not.
Keep it up.
Also love to know where you got the stickers for the black covers, they look fantastic
Don’t worry, the videos are staying.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Sir,Wrap a black colour thin line near the gold colour line on the tanky, mudguard and also to the rear mudguard ,the looks will be nice than this one.Thank you
Thanks for the recommendation but I think I’ll keep it the way it is.
Hope you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Hi, do you still have the decat pipe on? I was thinking of just doing that for my exhaust. Do you still reccomend it? Thanks
Yes I have the decat pipe, very happy with it along with the other modifications I’ve recently made. Hope you enjoyed the videos 👍

Either seal the spoked rims or switch to the cast, tubeless is so much better for flat repairs !
Yes that’s correct and the main reason I’ve fitted the alloy wheels.
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
Great update TN, thanks 👍
Cheers Ken, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Thanks for these updates, great insight on mods and agreed. I may opt to do a CAT delete and more breathable air filter in the future, but really no rush whatsoever.
My immediate needs are bar-end mirrors (ordered), and the Low Rider seat. On the fence about ordering the leather option, vs the standard material - is your low rider seat leather?
Great to hear that you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
My low ride height seat is vinyl and a genuine Royal Enfield part. As far as I know the only leather ones are aftermarket parts.
Hello. Do the springs under the seat work or are they decorative? Thank you!
They are purely decorative unfortunately. Hope you enjoyed the video 😁👍
I need one of these.
This is a great time to buy one, there’s some great discount bargains on at the moment.
Great wee bikes, hope you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
Great to hear that you enjoyed the video and hopefully found it useful 👍
Having a Busa and a Classic 350 is going from one extreme to another. That said, they would complement each other brilliantly. Buy one, you know you want to 🤣
You must now go to the next level by getting a 650cc RE bike. Greetings from India
Greetings from Scotland 🏴
I’m already at the next level with my two Triumphs, an 865 Bonneville and a 900 Tiger 🤣
I do love my little Classic 350, fabulous bike.
@@williamhuxley yes, RE bikes have got it right. It happens when people make products out of passion instead of for pure profit
Hello, I understood correctly, did you remove fuel x? If so, what was the reason?
Hi, you’re correct, I did have a FuelX on my bike when I had the Hitchcocks Free Flow exhaust system on the bike. I found the exhaust system to be too loud for my liking so sold it along with the exhaust.
As I’ve now fitted the performance camshaft and the decat pipe I’ve now fitted a new FuelX Light unit to my bike. I’m now very happy with the performance and don’t see any more changes being made to the engine.
Hope this is a good enough explanation 😁
@@tigerness5555 thank you
Hi mate were did you film this looks like a place i lived when i was a boy cheers from Australia 😂
Hi Sandy
It was on Glensherup Farm Road, just below the Upper Glendevon Reservoir. It’s an out of the way place just off the A823 on the Glendevon / Gleneagles Road in Central Scotland.
Hope you enjoyed the video and the scenery 😁👍
Which one is better bike or the scenery......
I think they’re both equally good. Hope you enjoyed the video 🤣👍
Take care.
It’s a very different mindset, the 350 only has 5 gears and overtaking requires time and skill 🤣
Take one out for a test ride to experience it for yourself 🏍️👍
@@tigerness5555 👍
I think standard is fine. I Don.t use full throttle much anyway. If I did I would buy a faster bike. Agree with the noise thing. Like to hear the bike but not get a headache. 👍 My 500 classic makes more noise as standard but still OK.
Everyone is different, I like a quiet bike these days, I must be getting old 🤣
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
@@tigerness5555 Yes. Not worth messing around I feel on bike like 350classic. Esp free flow filters. Let more muck in. 😁
@@tigerness5555 Thanks for that, yes I enjoy the channel very much.
Did you put the CAT back on? Is the new CAM still there?
My bikes still going great, now with 10,000 reliable miles on the clock.
At the moment it has:
Performance camshaft
Decat pipe with standard silencer.
FuelX light
Hitchcocks more open air filter cover with standard air filter.
Cheers
I’m delighted with my Classic 350. It’s now done over 5,000 miles and has been totally troubled free.
Fabulous wee bike. Hope you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
Are you happy with the upgraded cam mate?
Absolutely delighted with the new camshaft, it’s definitely improved the performance of the bike. In my opinion, it’s the best modification you can do to these 350 J series engines 👍
I see someone got a new drone for their birthday. :D
Actually I’ve had it for a few years, don’t tend to use it much though.

@@tigerness5555 Always enjoy seeing a Royal Enfield. We do have them here in Australia, but none in my little home town.
I have a Chinese bike with 17 hp. Its fine as long as you dont have a passanger.

Terrific vid.
Thank you 👍
Very nice bike that and I actually agree about keeping an exhaust for the tone and musicality of it rather than just loudness. There is a difference, to me anyway.
Hi Jon, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 🏍️👍
Why didn't you fit the pannier on the other side of the exhaust?
Royal Enfield only make the box and bracket for the right hand side. Some people have a modified bracket with the box lid opening in the wrong direction. I like it on this side, makes it easy when using on the side stand.
Hope you enjoyed the video 👍😁

Don't change anything till the bike is fully run in at 2000 miles.
My mate and I laughed our cocks off the other day when we saw one with something close to 'ace-bars' fitted. Must have been ridden by a chimpanzee.

That’s a good mileage in a year. There great little bikes, very underrated.
Hope you enjoyed my video 🏍️👍
well nice Bike
Thank you, great to hear that you enjoyed the video 👍
I keep hearing ppl say they put on alloys so they can put on tubeless tires. Why can't you put tubeless tires on spoked wheels?
That’s easy to answer.
The spokes got through the holes in the wheel rim and if you used tubeless tyres the air would leak out through the spoke holes 🤣
@@tigerness5555 cheers, had me scrathing my head for a bit. Its a shame, the spoked wheels look amazing on these bikes.
ps, fantastic video
Thank you 👍
What i want to know is.
