If the edges need extra attention depending upon the area. We would edge with the vacuum first, pretreat the edges a little heavier as needed. You can also lift the carpet wand higher up if after cleaning it one time it appears it could use more. That area can be very difficult to remove all of the soil from because those can become what's called Filtration damage if its not regularly taken care of it does build up and can cause issues with the carpet. Another trick is our jets on our wands have a spray pattern that slightly exceeds the width of the carpet wand. That way when you're rinsing it will easily reach closer to those types of areas. Generally, until the site glass clears up and only looks like the white rinsing agent we use. The average job takes one full up and down pass to sometimes two. I'm always watching it. Especially in main traffic areas.

Some of them do surprise me because it really looks like the carpet is worn out, but it ends up being just solid dirt.

I like when I get a really dirty one like this. Less pressure than when it's just one stain on otherwise pristine carpet.
Some of my favorites to clean. As long as their isn't permanent damage or stains it will look so much better after a thorough cleaning.

I use a rinsing agent. This one I used an acidic rinse on due to the heavy urine deposits.
Spoiler alert: those were NOT shadows on a brown carpet lol. Great clean!
