I will always use any excuse to say how godlike they made Jin is in this game. Everything, from his story, his moveset, his costume, his ending, all point to a singular concept of not running away from the devil inside you and instead learning to control it as it is an unremovable part of your being. I mean, just look his costume. It's equal parts black and white, cut right in the middle. His tattoo, which has a circular or oval form, is in his back. Because it's in the middle of the line, half of it is black and the other half white. That's yin and yang. The principle that true harmony can only be achieved by balancing the light and dark side of yourself. Or consider his ending. He was going to give in to the devil gene but flashes of his mother stopped him. Seeing Buddha, the Enlightened One, helped Jin to understand what he must do. He let go of his hate by sparing Heihachi, flying away while a singular white feather floated on to the ground, hinting that Jin is on his way to true enlightenment. This is why I'm so disappointed that in every iteration of Tekken after this, Jin is back to trying to get rid of the devil gene, going so far as to wage world war to do so, and not even succeeding. I feel like they took several steps back on his character development after 4. They even took away his costume.. 😞
T4 Jin, refuses to kill Heihachi and Kazuya and succumb to the devil gene. T5 and T6 Jin, plunges the world into chaos, resulting in millions of death while using the devil gene's power.
The epic prologues in this game engross you in the story as well, which add to the endings like for Paul, Jin, Kazuya, and King. I remember for King: "Armor King was murdered. King is entering the tournament to get revenge on his killer." It's never stated who the killer is, but you connect the dots and then it's revealed in his ending that it's the new character, Marduk. That kind of storytelling makes you want to play the story with each character.
Though it was neat that you could be a giant bear in Tekken 3, Tekken 4 is really what turned me into a Kuma fan. Now here we are at Tekken 7 and he's my favorite character. Truly being fleshed out into a mix-up character as crazy as the prospect of fighting a bear in a kung fu tournament
Dude christe was handled pretty respectfully. I know you hate tekken endings after this and I agree the realness is there but damn give the writers credits where it's due.
I'll never forget the first time I got a PS2 my dad got us Tekken 4 and The Terminator. Tekken was my first fighting game as a kid and it completely set the bar for any other fighting game for that matter. Instantly became a huge fan of Tekken and never looked back since!
The darkest and the best tekken, but I recall that Bryan project was unfinished because he awoke earlier in tekken 5 so he is still rotting to this T7 Bryan
Ya but that is still a poor story that was written for T5 which is what TMM complained about. They could of easily kept the face turn that was setup in T4.
Man, I wish Feng was in Tekken 4. He had character depth in 5 but he barely has had any dialogue since then. He may not be a joke character but he's a bunch of reused sounds just standing there.
Nice choice of topic. Loved the endings and overall feel of this game to no end. Countless hours of Battles on The Building, The Airport and Honmaru! Those stages and beats though 🙌🏿 On that thought TMM, Why do a video on the stages and or music of a Tekken installment . Or each of them over time ✊🏿
i really like tekken 4's ending cause most of them could be and maybe are canon. to bad they never did anything with the others and only focused on the mishima's
I think the comment by the random dude on the twitch chat at 17:42 where he's saying imagine kazuya screaming stupid woman is a possibility if ever Kazuya and Jun met up again and somehow decided to have an English voice actor.
I like how in Hwoarangs ending there are so many soldiers shooting them and they can casually jog behind to the car and they dont even try to move and shoot them
I think the problem is they got criticism over trying to be too realistic (eg changing Devil from possession into a genetic thing, replacing Mokujin with a clunky looking robot, not having a supernatural final boss etc) and decided they needed to throw out EVERYTHING that Tekken 4 established with Tekken 5.
@@fissilewhistle Back then I loved it, but in recent years I've seen T5 as not only unremarkable, but the catalyst for everything wrong that's happened with the series in the past decade or so.
Plot twist: Paul really does die in his ending, and its canonical; everything onwards from Jin taking the Zaibatsu to a dying Heihachi is all just a dream
32:34 I would say he’s learned from Jun to abstain from behavior like that. He’s also kinda sheltered on top of being disciplined, until Jun supposedly dies and he has to train under Heihachi. By that point he’s hankering for vengeance.
Lei's ending in 4 really feels more like a Jackie Chan movie than 5 and 6 (although i liked them both). More stunts involved, the pacing, the music and overall the action comedy feel to it.
@@JunKazamaFan He was mostly a joke character back then, even in Tekken 3, both his ending AND Law's ending portrayed him as a comic relief character. Tekken 4 is what changed his character, not Tekken 5.
@@MaskedGuyCh I hope you do realize *Paul* back in the Tekken 1-3 era was *Kazuya's* rival. That alone should tell you he was no joke. He had funny moments, but not the joke itself.
I see many write this, which isn't true. He had a funny side, but he definitely wasn't as one-sided goof he's now. That's bullcrap, it's like you never payed attention to the lore, or just watched some endings from the older games. Paul before Tekken 1 drawed with Kazuya, and lost to him in a hard fight in Tekken 1. At Tekken 2 and 3 he remained undefeated because of bad luck, in third Tekken he even managed to beat Ogre. Yeah, funny stuff happened to him (like in Tekken 2). And although Kazuya never saw him as a rival, he saw him still as pesky, he never took him easy. Look at the Tekken 6 scenario campaign, when Kazuya said: "You're not what you used to be!" - that alone shows how much his character changed after Tekken 4, and that also even Kazuya had certain respect for him! This is no typical joke character we're talking about here. Having a funny side, and being a complete joke character are two different things.
32:17 very late but is no one gonna talk about how spot on that impression was???? It favored a bit more kazuya imo naturally since this is mainman lol

The FMVs in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7 seem to have low composite picture quality.
Underrated comment
@@AMK316 thanks, forgot i even wrote this wall of text haha..
@@jerichogm14 😂 Jin fans love Jin essays lol
@@AMK316 tekken 4 jin definitely deserves one.. i could go on even 😅😅
Damn, Lei was KO'd by one ultimate tackle from Steve? And they say his Tekken 5 incarnation was strong.
Nobody said Lei was strong in T5
@@crack4184Reading Comprehension: 0
@@intensellylit4100Yeah, I just saw that. Damn
T4 Jin, refuses to kill Heihachi and Kazuya and succumb to the devil gene.
T5 and T6 Jin, plunges the world into chaos, resulting in millions of death while using the devil gene's power.
Insane
@@GoldenAureliush to be fair t5 didn’t do anything yet, he just took control of the zaibastu
Steve’s story with Nina was picked back up in Tekken 7
The only ending I liked in T7
@@Jirudoggu the only one with an inch of story.
Yeah, who would've guessed he has bits of the Devil Gene in him.
Giorgo Almirakis Let's not forget Miguel's T7 ending. That was also one of the few "endings" that were worth watching.
@@E24KLawson bold of you to call them endings 🤣, they're like T5's interludes at best
Even Tekken 4 Heihachi, the evil, greedy, and menacing Heihachi, works well in comedic scenes (Kuma's Ending) and still not break character.
Julia’s ending had me dying lmao
Stoopid womon
Dude christe was handled pretty respectfully. I know you hate tekken endings after this and I agree the realness is there but damn give the writers credits where it's due.
5:29 perfect timing
Jin: "I have no sexual urges what so ever"
Looks at his father and his grandfather
"I'm about to end your whole career!"
I'll never forget the first time I got a PS2 my dad got us Tekken 4 and The Terminator. Tekken was my first fighting game as a kid and it completely set the bar for any other fighting game for that matter. Instantly became a huge fan of Tekken and never looked back since!
Can we all just appreciate that tekken 4 still looks fuckin good
The darkest and the best tekken, but I recall that Bryan project was unfinished because he awoke earlier in tekken 5 so he is still rotting to this T7 Bryan
Ya but that is still a poor story that was written for T5 which is what TMM complained about. They could of easily kept the face turn that was setup in T4.
Heihachi is a good guy in T7 because he's Joseph Joestar. He was just trolling before, never did any bad thing
Jeff Slater is my favorite Tekken character.
Imagine him in Tekken 8 completely a badass after he got k.o'd like that by Marduk, been training since. I think people would go crazy LOL
11:54 “omae wa Koko de shine”
Me: I KNOW THOSE WORDS!!!
Yushimitsu's ending is my favorite of Tekken 4 endings R.I.P Daisuke Gōri what a great voice actor of Heihachi Mishima 💔
6:42 That Heihachi laugh 😂
Daisuke Gori absolutely nailed it.
RIP Gori and his TT2 and Tekken 7 VA Unshō Ishizuka
Man, I wish Feng was in Tekken 4. He had character depth in 5 but he barely has had any dialogue since then. He may not be a joke character but he's a bunch of reused sounds just standing there.
Feng Wei was so cool and had so much potential. All of the new characters in vanilla T5 had so much promise and it's such a shame they go no where.
I miss this paul
Nice choice of topic. Loved the endings and overall feel of this game to no end. Countless hours of Battles on The Building, The Airport and Honmaru! Those stages and beats though 🙌🏿
On that thought TMM, Why do a video on the stages and or music of a Tekken installment . Or each of them over time ✊🏿
Marduk was a silent beast in T4. Interesting to see how he turned out now lol
24:35 i keep watching this over to watch lee change to his stance bruh
i really like tekken 4's ending cause most of them could be and maybe are canon. to bad they never did anything with the others and only focused on the mishima's
"An orangutan that died two years ago" I'm dead. 🤣🤣🤣
Also you completely skipped Combot's ending actually
To be fair to Paul, his Tekken 2 and 3 ending was comical to say the least
Ikr . But his tekken 4 ending was so good
Yeah were comucal but not at the point to make him look out of character like was after 4
I dont know what is comical with losing by default because a giant boulder blocked his way.
I think the comment by the random dude on the twitch chat at 17:42 where he's saying imagine kazuya screaming stupid woman is a possibility if ever Kazuya and Jun met up again and somehow decided to have an English voice actor.
18:59 *Kazuya turns into Thanoszuya*
With the full power of the Devil Gene, I could simply punch my son, and he would cease to exist. I call that... mercy.
22:58 A wild Harada spotted
I like how in Hwoarangs ending there are so many soldiers shooting them and they can casually jog behind to the car and they dont even try to move and shoot them
I can HEAR the thumbnail.
No one:
Lei: FRIZ!
Looking back on it, seeing Kazuya laying unconscious on the ground with Heihaichi running his mouth talking shit is just hilarious to me
Whether it was the result of laziness and/or appealing to the wrong crowd, everything after this game went to shit.
Are you mad? Tekken 5 was great.
@@fissilewhistle
Back then I loved it, but in recent years I've seen T5 as not only unremarkable, but the catalyst for everything wrong that's happened with the series in the past decade or so.
cosmicspider2 t6 is the catalyst
@@cosmicspider2 I agree. Hyped at the time now I never revisit it. In fact I sold it. But kept all my other tekkens
Not EVERYTHING come on now. Gameplay's still good . Tone , lore , content and all that tho...yeah
Plot twist: Paul really does die in his ending, and its canonical; everything onwards from Jin taking the Zaibatsu to a dying Heihachi is all just a dream
And the paul that was seen in tekken 5 onward was actually his long lost twin brother Baul
32:34 I would say he’s learned from Jun to abstain from behavior like that. He’s also kinda sheltered on top of being disciplined, until Jun supposedly dies and he has to train under Heihachi. By that point he’s hankering for vengeance.
Fun fact: the music in christies ending is a remix of Kitsch/Beach theme which is a remix of Tigers Tekken 3 ending music
Lei's ending in 4 really feels more like a Jackie Chan movie than 5 and 6 (although i liked them both). More stunts involved, the pacing, the music and overall the action comedy feel to it.
That’s actually Marduks parents. Tmm trolling as always
This is when you realize that tekken 4 panda has more lore than the half of tekken 5 characters
I remember my first time seeing Christie being so confused my the only word she seemed to know was "EDDY!"
"In Tekken 5 Paul was changed into Law's comic relief friend"
Uh, he was already that in *Tekken 2* . Watch Law's Tekken 2 ending.
Yes, but there was a little more to him than that back then, whereas now it's his defining trait.
@@violetlacksh2o It was a one-sided rivalry. Kazuya never saw him as a rival.

Tekken 2 and 4 are my favs. Tekken 4 had some great ideas great endings and nice unique stages.
I couldn't agree more. Those two games had the best atmosphere.
6:50 "an age of Darkness" ? T7 begs to differ
Yoooo I just noticed that in the chat, Harada said cinematic endings return for T8..hopefully those endings actually move the characters foward in their stories
Eh...
If you closely at 9:13~9:14 you'll see that there's a guy with a rifle standing behind hwoarang not doing anything even though he should attack him 😂😂😂
Best Tekken Ever , Next Game must be a Remastered Tekken 4 and officially for pc
Tekken 4 had the unadmirable job of following up Tekken Tag. No chance.
6:43 now i know where MainMan has gotten that evil laugh from lmao
24:48 The Best Part 🤣🤣 Look at Adrian
TMM checking out the endings of the first Tekken game I’ve ever played? I hit that thumbnail so hard not even wind god fist could be powerful enough to stop it
I've noticed when I first watched the FMVs, the Characters look like as if their in-game Polygon Models were used.
The FMVs in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7 seem to have low composite picture quality. I played the one from the actual Tekken 4 Game Disc and those FMVs from the Disc look a hell of a lot better. Even in S-Video quality.
19:53- More like his family.
22:34- The legendary Quote! LOL 😆
23:34- What I don't get is if Lee is Japanese, why does he speak English? In Tekken 5, the creators got it right.
