Eh, still prefer Saberlot. The dude can generate stars, absorb them and then deal big boy crit damage with those on consistent basis. Things are usually long dead before I even use his NP. Something that Hokusai can only dream of with her lousy absorption and the CD that would take an eternity or two before re-activation. And remember, Saberlot has not been buffed once in his entire existence over the last 6 years or so.
@@kimguir303 Max both. They're both good. Hokusai has the easier looping options and hits harder with the NP. Saberlot hits with crits more consistently. They're comparable. I personally prefer the Saberlot crits. Considering Hokusai is a welfare that's easy to max in the event, I wouldn't blame you for going for her first.
@@kimguir303 personally, I would go for saberlot. His absorption on 2nd skill is disgusting that can steal all the stars from even Rider at level 1. Which would boost his damage and NP gain tremendously. While Hokusai’s 2nd skill, even at max, still struggle to hoard the stars if there isn’t a bunch already on field. And without crit, she hits like a wet noddle. Level saberlot to 10/6/10 and watch him wipe the floor with anything that isn’t an archer.
After seeing her tested and using her myself, Id have to say she falls slightly short of 4 star ST Arts saber trio of Saberlot, Yagyu and the upcoming saito hajime. Those guys are absolutely ridiculous.
My NP5 Saberlot just hit Bond 10, Summer Oei could not have come at a better time. While Lancelot savors his long break, Oei's gonna be my new main Saber moving forward. That they work similarly to each other and can fit in my usual comp with minimal fuss is an amazing bonus.
So, I didn't bother with finishing Summer 4 on NA due to burn-out from 3's re-run. And the fact I already had a fairly high leveled Lancelot certainly helped me not be bothered to put in the effort. I don't really want looping in a single target character, I want big-dick damage and consistency- which Lancelot has. Pair Lancelot with a CasGil or Lanling and Castoria or Fluffy Tails and he's basically set to melt whatever stamds before him. Especially if he's maxed out, the man is almost like a Berserker that isn't tissue paper
I genuinely think that Saberlot is a much stronger servant overall compared to Hokusai, and Hokusai is largely carried entirely on the back of "Free NP5". Yes Lancelot's NP is only a single hit, but he makes up for that with a very specific niche that is so insanely strong, very few other servants can come close to what he can do. Self sufficiency. Not only does he have an insane 3000% star absorb buff at level 1(ending up with 3K+-6K star draw, compared to Hokusai barely reaching double Rider levels at level 10) to make sure he gets ALL the stars, he has 3 turns of 15 stars, and a star bomb of 20. His crit buff isn't tied to arts cards, but is just a general crit buff allowing him to hit for way more damage on face cards. His NP is a single hit, but his arts cards are extremely solid, and with his ease of generating stars for himself, it means you will almost always be arts critting with him making his refund way stronger. His battery is stronger than hers, and his cooldowns are much nicer to work around compared to Hokusai's crit gather skill being 7 turns at level 10. Plus a fair number of bosses have bullshit anti-NP/specific card type gimmicks which he can bypass since he is so card type agnostic. He also, weirdly enough, can also work as a supportive-DPS by generating stars for another main DPS, and stacking a flat damage increase on the enemy so even the supports can start hitting relatively hard, though that is far more niche. You might say "but he has no defense", which is where that self sufficiency comes into play. He is SO self sufficient, that he doesn't require any supports. Hokusai NEEDS arts crit supports, if she doesn't have them, she struggles greatly since she can't make the stars she needs to crit, and her NP generation, while good, can't keep going in a longer fight without strong support. Lancelot on the other hand is able to do so much himself, that the few things he can't do can be easily covered by support, and f2p supports at that while Hokusai requires higher tier supports if she wants to do anything well. Are you in a hard fight and need defense? Pair him with Mash and a support Jeanne. Jeanne's star gen, Mash's attack buffs, and their defensive arts focused coverage lets Lancelot go to town without fear of dying to an enemy, while also making a ton of stars so that the others can spam their NP more often. Want to rapidly burn down the enemy? A support Merlin and Mozart allows for a single turn of insane burst damage since Lancelot can Buster crit extremely well, followed by 2 turns of strong crit damage, and then Merlin's NP to keep the fight going just in case it didn't work out somehow(plus you could plugsuit Mozart out for Hans or something) Want to go for a longer high damage fight? support Merlin(or double merlin if you have one yourself) plus Hans allows for 24/7, nonstop 20+ stars per turn and constant high crit damage bursts while also offering some defensive ability due to the raw amount of healing and Merlin's invul. If you give them a number based power level, Hokusai might be a solid 90/100 when she is perfectly supported, but that requires specific servants and if she lacks those servants, she is maybe a 40-50/100. Consider how you would rate her if she turned out to be a gatcha unit at NP1, nobody would really like her since her kit is so middle-of-the-road and her NP isn't super amazing without that massive damage buff from NP5. Lancelot on the other hand is so self sufficient that he is a 70/100 no matter what team he finds himself in, and much higher if he gets good supports. Quick team? 70/100 since he is still getting a ton of stars and isn't reliant on arts chains. Buster non-crit team? 70/100 since he makes his own stars and can buster crit well. Non crit arts team? 85+/100 since his arts cards are really good for generating NP. Arts crit team? Easily 90+/100 since it is what he is designed around. As long as you aren't bringing him against archers, Lancelot is always "a really strong choice" no matter what. Whereas with Hokusai, if you aren't bringing her alongside specific supports, she offers basically nothing since all of her damage is focused on either NP, or crits that she can't make her own stars for. Saber Hokusai might hit for far more on her NP, but Lancelot is so flexible that I would rather take him over Hokusai most of the time because when something goes wrong, be it a shitty hand on an important turn, no crit stars, or being 3% off from an NP, he can recover from the situation far better than Hokusai can. If both are NP5, not likely since obviously welfare vs gatcha servant, there is little reason to pick Hokusai over Lancelot unless you are absolutely 100% sure that you objectively can perfectly loop her NP and win the fight in 3 turns, which is something only whales will be able to do reliably. A welfare that is only ideal for whales kind of defeats the point of being a welfare. Its a similar thing to Yagyu vs Lancelot. Yes Yagyu might hit for higher maximum numbers, but it comes at the cost of DEMANDING a very specific kind of team, and he is basically useless outside of that one team type. Lancelot on the other hand, can do everything himself so well that he can fit into any team, be it a defensive team or an offensive team. Hell, you could even do some sort of weird gimmick debuff team with Nero Bride if you wanted to, since both are arts sabers with 5 turn debuffs and can work as supports for each other, crit stars to help spam more NP, and nero's buffs to make up for Lancelot's lower NP damage. Even at NP1, I see myself using Lancelot far more in the future over Hokusai just because of how much more he can do, and only when Castoria drops(which its fucking Castoria, the woman who allows Caster Gil and fucking Emiya assassin to loop) I could see myself intentionally picking Hokusai over Lancelot. If Hokusai wasn't a free NP5, no one would really pay her much mind, but Lancelot, even 5 years later in JP without any buffs at all at NP1 is still a really solid pick. Plus, we haven't seen that many welfares get buffed in FGO's history(only 1 really, Shiki, since Chloe's "buff" is basically an Illya buff and Saber Lily was retroactively made a welfare, then made into a non-welfare due to FP gatcha), meaning Lancelot is far more likely to be buffed down the road.
As an NP5 10/10/10 2000/2000 Bond 12 (currently) Saberlot-in-All-support-slot appreciator, I'd like to convey my respect for this bible to Our Esteemed Deadbeat Dad Of Arts Crits.
i would say she's good but not as good as a Lancelot or a Rama. that's manly due to her second skill cooldown, it's a skill that has a long cooldown just because of the guts which doesn't really do much for her, in my opinion the guts only complicate her situation manking her only way of getting consistent star absorb beign tie to a long cooldown due to one effect thats not even that relevant my recomendation is to get her if you need a high rarity saber, but if you already have one, you'll not see much use for her except maybe looping and beign a arts dps
To be fair, Yagyu isn't there to crit meme, he's there when you need the boss your facing to quite literally shut up with their attack damage with his np and skill. Lancelot and her though...yeah, they kind of have too similar a kit.
@@9751matt I talking in the sense of having 3 ST arts sabers that don't play well with each other! All 3 are selfish and is kinda needs to be the main attacker!
@@santhushmahanama3896 Honestly as long as you don't use Lancelot's or Hokusai's crit absorb skill they don't work TOO bad together, but I understand your meaning. Your talking about main attacker setups. Yagyu will help you with battles Lancelot and Hokusai can't help you with. He's useful against berserker bosses that can get a lot of attacks off since you'll lose less hp with Yagyu around, heck he may sometimes be the key to a lot of unique battles that don't involve berserkers or lancers at all. In fact don't look at Yagyu like a Saber to be honest. He's a monster in stall teams against tough enemies without debuff resist. You want to invest in him and think of him as a separate servant type. Plus, he has evade, so he doesn't have to rely on supports to survive NPs. As for Crit Sabers, its a complete toss up between Lancelot and Hokusai. Lancelot has no survival skills, but his crit absorb has really low cooldown, and his damage is almost instantly ridiculous for all his face cards. You don't need to rely on arts cards only, and he generates enough stars and instant crit damage on his own that, when combined with other good supports, almost makes it seem unfair at times. Yeah, that cool down on Hokusai's 2nd skill might be the only turn off as a crit saber. Sure it has guts, but its hardly the best np survival skill in the game. However, if you are a big fan of Summer BB 3 turn destruction setups, Hokusai is for you. And she has better np loop potential.
Even if you hate Castoria for what she did to the game, she works with any servant that has an arts buff attached to it. Hans/Lanling/Casgil are great for overall performance, while obviously Tamamo and Miss Lion are her best options.
The only reason I don't have her max grailed 10/10/10 already is that I'm going to be out for an entire week and am not entirely sure I'll finish the event 100%.
i dunno why people are comparing her to saberlot. she's a welfare servant so you could basically get her for free at NP5 too. i dont even have saberlot so this is pretty much a steal.

I think you're overlooking Saberlot having a +6000% absorb on shorter cooldown along higher consistent damage. Sure you can crack open your wallet and NP ever boss until you win but if your stuck doing normal strats being Able to Crit NP Crit for a while is incredibly effective regardless of boss gimmicks. And Lancelot'e Cooldowns become a non-issue just throw in a Support Ta- Oh wait She's extinct and doesn't exist on Support lists.

On one hand, she's free and looks cool as fuck...
On the other I have an NP4 lvl100 Saberlot ready to get NP5'd by the next sr ticket...
We haven't gotten an SR ticket in awhile, we got two SSR tickets instead.
For CEs, New Beginnings is also pretty good on her
I cant wait for u to do chadorion and hoa hoa
Thank you for covering my wife (saber)
I knew she was coming just from JP news 2 years ago but I'm not ready to let go of Saberlot 😭😭
She's yet another arts servant who needs castoria to loop properly even with her kit saying she can loop...
The only reason I don't have her max grailed 10/10/10 already is that I'm going to be out for an entire week and am not entirely sure I'll finish the event 100%.
You need 70 missions done to get her permeant and we still got two weeks.
3:17 what's up with all these reversed hokusai and oei
I'm waiting for the Bunny
Missed her
i run Hokusai with a Hans and a Tamamo
i dunno why people are comparing her to saberlot. she's a welfare servant so you could basically get her for free at NP5 too. i dont even have saberlot so this is pretty much a steal.
Got her up to lvl 90 and bond 11
What saber Hokucan Lancenot
Yeah, she's basically Diet Lancelot. I have both and he still edges her out in everything, cool swimsuit and nice JK body tho
saber hokusai is my main saber now, screw them other bikini ssr, they were playing hard to get, hundreds of quartz still no ssr in bunny artoria banner
How do I get her permanently
How to permanently keep hokusai?
Best girl in a swimsuit is all I need to level her up
Eh I can get her next year
Paracelci?
Plural of Paracelsus I suppose
So, funny story. I got an NP1 Summer Medb AND an NP1 Saberlot spook while rolling for BB, whom I did not get. Right before Summer Hokusai came out.
I'm fine. I swear. Gacha good.
Did get NP2 XX though, which was pretty neat.
She ain't a free Lancelot cuz Lancelot is fucking hot-
