By far the best washboard player I've ever heard. As a washboard player myself I'd give my fuckin front teeth to be able to play like this guy. Brilliant. Gonna have to make my way down to nola one of these days. Really is perhaps one of if not the only place you can just walk down the street and hear any amount of rag time music, much less ragtime played this well.Great post. Cheers from way up north.
A couple of these cats are from a similar group, the Yes Ma'am Band. Highly, highly entertaining. And yeah, washboard dude is great, musical and funny at the same time.
I happened upon these guys playing on Frenchman Street (Nola) back in 2014. I've never been so affected by music before or since. My mouth was literally agape and I couldn't have imagined that I could be so 'amazed' by an artistic performance. Just wow. I still vividly recall one of the songs which may be called "Take A Look At That, Baby" - just so much fun. I don't doubt, the best ragtime group in the USA.
I think that this five piece is the very best sound that Jason Lawrence (reso guitar) ever got out of any of the many bands he assembled. His guitar playing is unmatched anywhere. It's to bad that he has never been able to keep any band together for very long. I see that he has been playing with Tuba Skinny for a while but did not go out of country with them. I hope he has found a home with them.
I busted for 25 years, eventually come to the conclusion that most people are indifferent to music, as is evident with the passerbys. But cool people with good souls take time out to appreciate.
I believe that the clarinet player is James Evans. Joe Faison (banjo) is the only person that could have added to the sound of this great band. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO THE HARMONICA PLAYER IS???
The Clarinet players name is Byron, I dont know his last name. These days he plays with the Smokin Time Jazz Club. The Harmonica player is Garret Hand although he goes by the name 'Ready' and that is always what we called him.
Agree - that has got to be THE BEST washboard playing....all the musicisians are top notch!
never seen anyone play a wash board as amazing as him. lol. he's perfect

Hell yeah, he is like a trained professional and non-sensical all at the same time. The way it should be.
